The official command reference lists the syntax, but the wiki notes that cheats must be enabled. On a multiplayer server, the command you can actually run also depends on operator level, the installed Cobblemon version, the mod loader, server software, and any permission plugin.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
Use the official documentation as the syntax baseline, then verify access in your own server with a noncritical account. Keep commands that modify or erase another player’s data in a narrow staff role; many administrative actions are immediate and difficult or impossible to undo.

Before you use any Cobblemon command
The official Cobblemon wiki says its listed commands require cheats to be enabled. A command appearing in the reference therefore does not, by itself, give a player access. In single-player, enable cheats when creating the world or through the world’s settings. On a dedicated server, check the server’s operator configuration and the permission system used by your loader and server software.
Command availability changes between Cobblemon releases and between Fabric, Forge, and other supported environments. A command can be renamed, aliased, restricted, or absent in a particular build. Treat the official wiki and the command-reference repository as the starting point, then test the exact command in-game. If the game reports an unknown command or invalid argument, compare your installed version and loader with the documentation before granting broader permissions.

How to read Cobblemon command syntax
- Text in angle brackets, such as
<target>, is required and must be replaced with a player name, slot, coordinate, move, or other value. - Text in square brackets, such as
[attributes], is optional. - A Pokémon name normally uses its species identifier. Attributes can be appended using the format supported by your installed Cobblemon version.
- Coordinates in a command are world coordinates. Confirm the dimension and position before spawning anything at a remote location.
When troubleshooting, enter the command without guessing extra punctuation, use tab completion where it is available, and test with a player or world that does not contain valuable data.
Commands for giving, editing, and removing Pokémon
These commands operate on party data. The “other” variants let staff target a different player and therefore deserve stricter access than self-service commands.

| Command | What it does | Scope and risk |
|---|---|---|
/givepokemon <pokemon> [attributes] |
Gives a Pokémon to the command user. | Self; grants data and may affect progression. |
/givepokemonother <target> <pokemon> [attributes] |
Gives a Pokémon to another player. | Another player; staff-only in most communities. |
/pokemonedit <slot> [pokemon / attributes] |
Edits a Pokémon in the user’s party. | Self; modifies an existing party entry. |
/pokemoneditother <target> <slot> [pokemon / attributes] |
Edits a party entry for a target player. | Another player; can change species or attributes. |
/takepokemon <target> <slot> |
Removes a Pokémon from a target’s party. | Another player; destructive and not a routine player command. |
/levelup <target> <slot> |
Raises a party Pokémon’s level by one. | Another player’s party; progression-changing. |
/teach <target> <slot> <move> |
Teaches a move to a party Pokémon. | Another player’s party; verify the move identifier first. |
/held_item <target> <slot> <item> |
Changes the held item for a party Pokémon. | Another player’s party; modifies inventory-equivalent data. |
/healpokemon [target] |
Heals a party. Omitting the target applies it to the command user. | Self or another player; generally reversible but still an administrative action when targeted. |
/pokebox <target> <slot> [box] |
Moves a Pokémon from a party slot to a PC box. | Another player; changes storage location and can disrupt an active party. |
Party slots are counted by the game’s party interface, so confirm the slot number before editing or removing anything. For staff workflows, ask the player for their exact slot and species, record the change, and perform one operation at a time.
Destructive reset and storage commands
Three commands require special care because they can erase or reset player Pokémon data:

/clearparty <target>clears a target’s party./clearpc <target>clears a target’s PC storage./pokemonrestartresets the command user’s Pokémon data./pokemonrestartother <target>resets another player’s Pokémon data.
The official wiki warns that, in the behavior it documents for version 1.4, the clear commands do not ask for confirmation and erase data immediately. Before granting these commands, make a server backup, obtain explicit player approval where appropriate, and restrict them to a role that handles verified recovery requests. If a clear command was run by mistake, stop further changes and restore the relevant world or player-data backup; do not assume Cobblemon provides an undo command.
Spawning Pokémon and checking natural spawns
| Command | Use | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
/spawnpokemon <pokemon> [attributes] |
Spawns a specified Pokémon near the command user. | Creates a world entity; check the species and attributes before running it. |
/spawnpokemonat <x> <y> <z> <pokemon> [attributes] |
Spawns a specified Pokémon at exact coordinates. | Confirm dimension, coordinates, and chunk loading. |
/spawnallpokemon |
Spawns one of every available Pokémon. | Can slow low-end computers and create a very large number of entities. |
/spawnpokemonfrompool [number] |
Attempts to force natural spawning from the configured pool. | It can fail when configured spawn limits would be exceeded. |
/checkspawn <rarity> |
Checks spawn chance for a rarity at the player’s exact position. | Results are position-specific; move to the area you want to diagnose. |
Use /spawnpokemon for a controlled test and /spawnpokemonat for a scripted build or event location. Reserve /spawnallpokemon for a temporary test world or a controlled showcase, because the entity load can affect clients and server tick performance.

PC, starter, battle, and Pokédex administration
PC and starter interfaces
/pcopens the command user’s PC interface./openstarterscreen <target>opens the starter-selection interface for a specified player. Use it only when the target is ready to make or revisit that choice.
Battle controls
/stopbattle <target>stops a target’s current battle./abandonmultiteamremoves the command user from a multi-battle team.
Stopping a battle is useful for stuck encounters, but confirm the target and situation first; it can interrupt a legitimate match.
Pokédex entries
The Pokédex command supports grant and revoke operations. To grant every entry in a dex, use /pokedex grant <player> all <dex>. To grant only a species and form, use /pokedex grant <player> only <species> <form>. Replace grant with revoke to remove entries. Check the dex identifier and form syntax with tab completion in your release before applying a bulk change.

- COMMUNITY PLAY — Connect with players on community servers, or subscribe to Realms Plus (sold separately) to play with up to 10 friends on a private server.
NPC commands and their experimental status
The wiki marks NPC functionality as experimental, so test these commands in a backup or staging world before using them in a live spawn:
/spawnnpccreates an NPC./spawnnpcatcreates an NPC at specified coordinates./npcdeleteremoves an NPC./npceditedits an NPC./applyplayertextureapplies a player texture to an NPC.
Because experimental behavior can change, verify the current argument order and any required entity selector in-game rather than copying syntax from an older release.
Developer and testing utilities
These utilities are intended for development, demonstrations, debugging, or controlled events rather than normal player access:
/bedrockparticlecontrols a bedrock particle effect./cobblemon inforeports Cobblemon information useful for diagnostics./freezepokemonfreezes a Pokémon./opendialogueopens dialogue./runmolangscriptruns a Molang script./changeeyeheightchanges eye height./changescaleandsizechanges scale and size./changewalkspeedchanges walking speed.
Grant these only to builders or developers who understand the consequences. A utility that looks cosmetic can still affect entities, scripts, or client performance.

How operator status and permission nodes interact
There is no single permission rule that applies to every Cobblemon server. Cheats are a prerequisite in the official documentation, while the effective gate is also shaped by Minecraft operator level, the server implementation, the mod loader, and a permission plugin. A player may therefore see a command in tab completion but still receive a permission error, or have access through an alias that is not shown in an older guide.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →An unofficial CobbleDex reference describes full node names in a pattern such as cobblemon.command.example and maps them to Minecraft fallback levels. It labels itself a fan project, so use those names as a cross-check, not as a universal list. Confirm the exact node and required level against the Cobblemon build and permission plugin installed on your server.
Least-privilege role design
| Role | Reasonable access pattern | Keep out of the role |
|---|---|---|
| Player | Ordinary gameplay commands exposed by your server policy, if any. | Commands targeting other players or changing global data. |
| Moderator | Low-risk healing, battle-stuck assistance, and narrowly scoped support tools. | /clearpc, /clearparty, restart commands, and broad spawn tools. |
| Administrator | Verified player-management and event commands, with logging and backups. | Unrestricted wildcard access unless the administrator role genuinely needs it. |
| Developer or builder | Testing utilities and NPC or world-spawn tools in a controlled environment. | Production data-erasure commands unless separately approved. |
Grant one node at a time, test it with a noncritical account, and record which Cobblemon version, loader, server software, and permission plugin were used. Avoid granting a blanket Cobblemon wildcard when a small set of nodes will solve the job.
Troubleshooting a missing or failing command
- Check the installation. Confirm the Cobblemon version and loader match the documentation you are reading.
- Check prerequisites. Verify cheats are enabled and that the test account has the intended operator or permission-plugin role.
- Use in-game discovery. Press tab after the base command to reveal aliases and argument names exposed by your build.
- Validate the target. Check player names, party slots, species identifiers, forms, move names, coordinates, and dex identifiers.
- Check configuration limits. A forced spawn can fail when the configured spawn cap would be exceeded; move away from crowded areas or adjust the server’s intended limits.
- Reproduce safely. Test in a backup or staging world, especially for NPC, script, reset, and bulk-spawn operations.
- Document the result. If a command is uncertain, mark it for in-game testing instead of inventing syntax or copying an unverified alias.
Choosing the right command by risk
When several commands appear to solve the same problem, compare five things: target scope (yourself, another player, everyone, a position, or an entity), effect (inspect, grant, modify, move, or erase), access sensitivity, dependence on version or loader, and reversibility. For example, /healpokemon is a targeted service action, while /clearparty is an irreversible-style erase operation; /spawnpokemon creates a known entity, while /spawnpokemonfrompool depends on configured natural-spawn limits. This framework helps staff choose the smallest command that accomplishes the task.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I see a Cobblemon command but not run it?
The official command list assumes cheats are enabled. Your server may also require a particular operator level or permission node, and the command may differ in your Cobblemon version or loader. Verify all four conditions in-game.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Are Cobblemon permission nodes universal?
No. The fan-maintained CobbleDex reference uses names such as cobblemon.command.example, but node names and fallback behavior should be confirmed against your installed release and permission plugin.
Can I undo /clearparty or /clearpc?
The documented 1.4 behavior clears data without confirmation. Do not rely on an in-game undo; restore an appropriate server or player-data backup if one exists.
