What did the CoD 2024 map leak claim?
Insider Gaming reported that a leak named WMD, originally from Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Grind, a downloadable-content map from Black Ops II, as returning maps for the next Treyarch game. Insider Gaming’s October 2023 report presented this as a leak, not a confirmation from Activision or Treyarch.

The report also described separate, broader sourcing: many classic Black Ops maps were understood to be in development for the next title. It could not say which would be in the core launch game, arrive later as downloadable content, or appear in Warzone. Those possibilities matter: a map reportedly in development is not necessarily a map included at launch, or even in the same game mode.
Insider Gaming attributed the appeal of remakes partly to reducing development time, but that was the outlet’s explanation based on its sourcing—not an official Activision or Treyarch statement.

What was Call of Duty 2024, and when did it launch?
The game became Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, released on October 25, 2024. Activision’s June 2024 reveal described multiplayer maps as small-to-medium in size, built around a classic three-lane design and intended to support varied playstyles. That design description did not confirm any specific returning map.
Were WMD or Grind in the Black Ops 6 launch maps?
No. Activision’s October 16, 2024 launch guide listed 16 multiplayer maps: 12 new Core 6v6 maps and four new compact Strike maps. Neither WMD nor Grind was on that launch roster.

Did Grind return to Black Ops 6 later?
Yes. Activision’s February 19, 2025 map guide identifies Grind as a Black Ops 6 multiplayer map, notes that it was first introduced in Black Ops II, and describes its setting as a skatepark. That confirms a later appearance, not inclusion at launch.

The official launch roster establishes that WMD was not among the 16 multiplayer maps available at launch. The sources cited here do not settle whether it appeared in Black Ops 6 later, so they are not enough to call it definitively cancelled or to say it never returned. The leak report’s mention of Warzone as one possible destination for classic maps is not proof that WMD appeared there.

Which Black Ops maps returned in Black Ops 6?
For the two maps named in the leak report, the evidence supports different answers: Grind was later documented as a Black Ops 6 multiplayer map, while WMD’s full post-launch status remains unresolved by the official sources cited here. The report’s claim and its broader development reporting should not be read as a confirmed roster: the launch guide gives the official launch lineup, and the later Grind guide confirms Grind’s subsequent appearance.
