Why is the Vargo-S challenge not showing up in Warzone?
When the Vargo-S arrived with Vanguard Season 4 Reloaded in July 2022, GameSpot reported that the Warzone unlock challenge was not shown in-game. Its guide said it would be updated if the actual Warzone requirement became known. Do not treat 15 close-range kills as a confirmed Warzone requirement. GameSpot confirmed that requirement for Vanguard Multiplayer and described the equivalent Warzone challenge only as a possibility. If your Warzone client does not show a Vargo-S challenge, the source does not establish an official Warzone requirement to substitute for it.
Vargo-S challenge not tracking: separate the game mode and reward
“Vargo-S challenge not tracking” can describe two different problems: earning the base weapon or progressing a camouflage challenge. The documented tracking bug concerned a Zombies camouflage challenge, not the Warzone weapon unlock.

What to do if the Vargo-S is not unlocking
- Confirm the game, mode, and reward. Check whether you are playing Warzone, Vanguard Multiplayer, or Vanguard Zombies, and whether you are trying to unlock the base weapon or a camouflage. The documented camouflage tracking issue was in Zombies.
- Check the live Warzone challenge. If a Vargo-S unlock challenge appears, note its exact wording and current progress before testing it. Do not use Vanguard Multiplayer’s 15-close-range-kill requirement as a substitute for a missing Warzone challenge.
- Finish the match before checking progress. GameSpot’s 2022 guide said Warzone weapon challenge progress required completing matches. Treat that as launch-era guidance; it does not verify that the same rule applies in the current client.
- Check Activision’s current Warzone known issues. Activision describes the list as ongoing and directs players to its Warzone Bug Report form for issues that are not listed. The support portal also offers issue categories for missing unlocks or rewards and challenge progress. Start at Activision’s Warzone Known Issues page and follow its current support links.
- Include useful details in a report. State your platform, game or build, mode, exact challenge wording—or that no challenge is displayed—whether you completed the match, and what progress you observed. Add a screenshot if available. These details can help explain the issue; they are practical suggestions, not a published list of Activision requirements.
Is the Vargo-S Warzone unlock currently bugged?
The available official support pages provide a route for checking known issues and reporting unlisted ones, but they do not establish whether this legacy weapon’s original challenge is currently displayed or available in every Warzone build, platform, or linked title. Check what your game shows and report the problem through Activision if the challenge is absent or fails to progress.
