If CODE VEIN II crashes or freezes on PS5, first update the game and the console, then work through PlayStation’s checks without deleting your save. Bandai Namco’s latest surfaced patch entry, Ver. 2.0.2 dated 15 September 2026, lists a quest-progression fix—not a general crash fix. Its earlier Ver. 1.0.4/1.0.5 notes do document a specific Photo Mode crash at the MagMell hot spring.
Start with the symptom and scope
Before changing anything, note what the PS5 does and when it happens. A game closing to the home screen, a frozen image, an error code, and a console that powers off are different symptoms. Record whether the problem occurs at startup, during loading, in a particular scene or Photo Mode, or only after extended play. The available official guidance does not establish one cause for every CODE VEIN II crash.

- Only CODE VEIN II is affected: follow the game-specific checks below, then contact Bandai Namco if it continues.
- Several games are affected: PlayStation says the console may have an issue; contact PlayStation support or arrange repair.
- An error code appears: write it down exactly and use the PlayStation instructions for that code. A code-specific procedure may not apply to a freeze with no code.
Try these fixes in order
- Update CODE VEIN II. Highlight the game on the PS5 home screen, press the Options button, choose Check for Update, and install any available update. Bandai Namco’s patch notice says to install the latest update before playing. Its latest surfaced entry is Ver. 2.0.2, dated 15 September 2026; check the game’s displayed version and console update status rather than treating that version number as permanently current. - Update PS5 system software. Open Settings and use the system software update option to check for and install an update. PlayStation recommends current system software in its general crash and error-code guidance. PlayStation’s game-crash troubleshooting steps.
- Test the game from the beginning without the existing save. PlayStation recommends this as a way to check whether a save may be involved. Treat it as a diagnostic test; do not start by deleting saved data.
- Check the installation, then reinstall if needed. For a digital copy, confirm that the download and installation are complete before deleting and downloading the game again. For a disc copy, inspect and clean the disc, then reinstall from it. Reinstalling the game is not the same as deleting saved data. See PlayStation’s crash guidance.
- Use Safe Mode only when the matching PlayStation instructions call for it. For startup error CE-109573-5, PlayStation advises restarting and reinstalling first, then using Safe Mode > Clear Cache and Rebuild Database > Rebuild Database if the problem continues. PlayStation also lists database rebuilding for error CE-117740-0 after other steps. These are general error-code procedures, not CODE VEIN II-specific fixes. Do not factory-reset the console as an early troubleshooting step. A reset can erase console storage; if PlayStation support recommends one, back up important data first.
What CODE VEIN II’s patch notes say about crashes
Ver. 2.0.2: a quest fix, not a general crash fix
Bandai Namco’s Ver. 2.0.2 notes, dated 15 September 2026, describe a quest-progression issue under specified subsequent-playthrough conditions. They do not list a general PS5 crash fix. Ver. 1.0.4/1.0.5: one documented Photo Mode crash
Bandai Namco’s combined Ver. 1.0.4 and 1.0.5 notes say an issue was fixed where using Photo Mode in the “MagMell” hot spring after certain actions could sometimes cause a crash. The notes list PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This is a specific historical bug; it does not establish that a different crash has the same cause. Read the Ver. 1.0.4/1.0.5 notes.
Other performance work is not a crash guarantee
On 6 February 2026, Bandai Namco said it planned continuing updates to improve frame rates and address performance issues, naming frame-rate improvements and temporary drops as priorities. Ver. 1.0.7 notes also describe processing-load optimizations involving field collision data, enemy initialization and spawning, partner outfits, and effects for some boss attacks. When to contact support
Contact PlayStation if more than one game fails
If crashes affect multiple games, contact PlayStation support because the issue may involve the console. If an error appears, provide its exact code and follow the instructions for that code rather than trying unrelated Safe Mode steps. PlayStation crash guidance.
Contact Bandai Namco if the issue is limited to CODE VEIN II
Report the exact error message, what happened immediately before the crash, and steps that reliably reproduce it. Include a screenshot or video if possible. This gives the publisher concrete details to investigate. PlayStation’s advice on reporting game-specific problems.
