What is Commandos: Origins?
Developed by Claymore Game Studios and published by Kalypso Media, Commandos: Origins is a World War II real-time tactics and stealth game released on April 9, 2025, according to Steam and the publisher’s product page. Rather than focus on direct action, it asks you to move a small squad through guarded environments, exploit each character’s strengths and coordinate a route toward mission objectives.
Kalypso describes its approach as “Challenging Real-Time Tactics and Stealth Gameplay.” That is a publisher description, not an independent verdict, but it captures the central premise: observe, plan and act before enemies can disrupt the plan.
How do the tactics and stealth systems work?
The game runs in real time, but the player can use Command Mode to queue actions for multiple commandos and execute them together. This gives the squad a way to coordinate simultaneous moves—useful in principle when one character must distract a guard while another slips past or handles a target. The publisher also lists environmental interactions, detectable footprints, reduced enemy vision at night, and both lethal and non-lethal takedowns.

Do the six commandos make for varied missions?

That combination gives the game a clear basis for squad-based problem-solving: missions can ask you to choose who handles a task, and optional objectives add goals beyond simply reaching the main one. But character count and mission count alone cannot confirm that every specialist feels essential or that the campaign avoids repetitive pacing. Those qualities require play evidence not established here.
Does Commandos: Origins have co-op?
Yes. Two players can play online or locally in split-screen. The publisher says every mission except the first supports co-op, so the opening mission is the exception. Steam also lists online, LAN and shared/split-screen co-op features on its store page.

Which platforms can you play it on?
Kalypso lists Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its FAQ also describes digital PS4 and Xbox One versions as later releases, and warns that retail-edition timing can vary by region. On PC, players can use mouse and keyboard or a controller; the FAQ says the game offers two control schemes and custom key bindings.

What do player and critic ratings say?
When accessed on October 8, 2026, Steam showed 78% positive user reviews from 1,870 reviews. This is a dated, changeable snapshot, not a permanent score. Steam’s listing also displayed review summaries of 9/10 from Shacknews and 8/10 from IGN; those blurbs are store-page references, not a substitute for reading either outlet’s full review.
