At the Conundrum Unsolved cave, place the three single-symbol slabs in their matching outer positions, then arrange the double-symbol slabs in the middle so adjoining edges show matching symbols. Check the cave’s vase-like containers for missing slabs, and use the hand interaction to choose the orientation that fits. The cave is northeast of Kenabres and can be visited during Act 2.
Where to find Conundrum Unsolved
The cave is northeast of Kenabres. It is an Act 2 location in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. The puzzle is inside the cave, where floor panels mark the slab positions and vase-like containers can hold slab items. Prima Games’ guide describes the location and puzzle; Neoseeker’s guide places it slightly northeast of Kenabres.
Check that you have the slabs
Loot every vase-like container in the cave and check your inventory before placing pieces. The puzzle uses three slabs with one symbol and four with two symbols, according to Prima Games. Some guides describe slabs being collected earlier in the campaign, while another search result reports them in urns near the puzzle; acquisition details may vary with progression or version. AltChar’s guide describes earlier pickups in Topaz Solutions and the Underground Hideout. If you are short a piece, first make sure you have searched the cave containers, then revisit the earlier locations available in your playthrough.
How to solve the slab puzzle
- Place the single-symbol slabs on the outer panels. Match each distinctive piece to its corresponding outer position. These pieces constrain the rest of the layout.
- Arrange the double-symbol slabs in the center. Treat the pieces like dominoes: symbols on adjoining edges must match. Use the symbols on the outer pieces as clues to the central pattern.
- Choose the correct orientation at each hand interaction. The hand icon lets you select how a slab is turned. If the choice shows no suitable slab, try the other orientation and compare the displayed symbols with the pieces in your inventory.
The central arrangement is not simply a matter of putting any remaining slabs into empty panels: each join must preserve the matching-symbol pattern. A community clarification cited by GosuNoob also notes that outer symbols correspond to positions in the central loop; treat that as an additional solving clue rather than a separately confirmed in-game rule. What happens when you finish
Completing the arrangement opens a secret room with two sarcophagi. Prima Games lists Elven Notes for the Storyteller and Hide Barding among the rewards. The Ancient Ghost then points you toward the Heart of Mystery and the Secrets of Creation quest.

The Heart of Mystery is a later destination, not an immediate continuation of the cave puzzle. Prima Games describes it as a later Act III visit; AltChar says the western location appears on the map after completing Drezen. If it is not available yet, continue the main campaign and check the map again after that progression point.
