Cookie Clicker’s shadow achievements are special, mostly difficult unlocks: they are cosmetic, do not grant milk, and do not count toward normal achievement completion. The Cookie Clicker Wiki’s roster for version 2.058 lists 17. This guide explains their role, the best-known unlock conditions, the restrictions on True Neverclick, and why Steam’s achievement total differs.
What shadow achievements do
The Cookie Clicker Wiki describes shadow achievements as unusually difficult or unfair to attain. Unlike normal achievements, they do not grant milk and do not contribute to the game’s normal achievement completion percentage. They are an optional challenge rather than a requirement for ordinary achievement completion.
The Wiki’s list is identified as current for game version 2.058 and contains 17 shadow achievements. Achievement requirements and counts can be version-sensitive, so treat that roster as a versioned reference rather than a promise that every platform or later game version displays the same list.
How to unlock notable shadow achievements
| Achievement | Requirement | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Four-leaf cookie | Have four golden cookies on screen simultaneously. | The condition is simultaneous; collecting four at different times is not the same requirement. |
| Seven horseshoes | Click 27,777 golden cookies. | This is a cumulative golden-cookie click milestone. |
| All-natural cane sugar | Harvest a golden sugar lump. | The listed condition is harvesting a golden sugar lump. |
| Endless cycle | Ascend 1,000 times. | Each counted ascension must grant at least one prestige. |
How to get True Neverclick
True Neverclick requires making one million cookies without clicking the big cookie. It is listed under the Born Again challenge mode. The Cookie Clicker Wiki’s challenge-mode reference says the achievements listed for that mode cannot be earned while benefiting from prestige, so do not rely on prestige benefits during the run.

How the bakery-name unlock works
The Wiki documents an in-game method for Cheated cookies taste awful: rename the bakery so its name ends with saysopensesame. This is a game unlock method, not evidence that the achievement exists as a Steam client achievement; the Wiki says it is not implemented there.
Why Steam’s achievement count is different
The in-game roster and Steam’s client achievement list are different measures. The Wiki’s version 2.058 listing reports 622 normal achievements plus 17 shadow achievements, for 639 in that roster. Steam’s global achievements page reports 637 achievements. The totals are not directly comparable: they come from different platform-specific lists, and the Wiki notes that Cheated cookies taste awful and Third-party are not Steam client achievements.
