For the Mortal Flames, Eternal Change update, start with Rajapendra Cookie of Mortality in front, Mogra Cookie in the rear, and Burning Spice Cookie as the main synergy damage dealer. Fill the remaining slots with damage Cookies that let you activate the Rajapendra Raid’s same-element bonus without leaving yourself helpless when the boss changes resistance. This core is effective because Rajapendra supplies front-line pressure and Burn, Mogra covers healing, shields, dispels and Seed of Change charging, and Burning Spice receives special advantages in both new story episodes.
There is no permanently optimal five-Cookie lineup for every stage. The raid boss changes its elemental resistance after transforming, while Episodes 11 and 12 reward specific update Cookies. Build around the activity you are actually playing, then adjust element, damage timing and survivability.

What the Mortal Flames update adds
Version 7.9, Mortal Flames, Eternal Change, launched on September 23, 2026. Episode 11, Flames that Devour the Ages, was available first and does not require you to clear earlier episodes. The October 7 update added Episode 12, A Sun That Shines Eternal.

The update’s central combat content is the Rajapendra of Mortality Raid. It also introduces episode-specific Flame effects, the Seed of Change mechanic, and new Toppings Sets, Mirror Toppings and Resonant Toppings. Those systems reward teams that can switch between concentrated elemental damage, cleansing and sustained healing rather than relying only on maximum burst.

The strongest general-purpose team core
| Slot | Cookie | What the slot contributes | Why it matters in 7.9 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front | Rajapendra Cookie of Mortality | Area damage, Burn, Brand of Mortality and ally Rampaging Power | He is the update’s Beast Charge Front Cookie and benefits directly from the new episode and raid mechanics. |
| Rear | Mogra Cookie | Healing, shields, DMG Resist, crowd control, dispels and faster Seed of Change charging | Her utility is useful in every raid season and in both episodes. |
| Damage core | Burning Spice Cookie | High-value offensive pressure with update-specific ATK Up interactions | Burning Spice receives ATK Up instead of the ordinary episode offensive debuffs and gets extra protection from Mogra. |
| Remaining slots | Elemental damage and flex picks | Complete the three-Cookie elemental requirement, add a second damage type or improve survival | The right choices depend on the raid season, the boss’s current resistance and your score target. |
Use this core when you need one roster that can move between story stages and raid attempts. In a score-focused raid run, replace a flex slot only when the replacement improves the current elemental plan or lets the team survive long enough to use another damage cycle.
When to move away from the core
- Use more same-element skills when you cannot reach the raid resonance threshold.
- Use a second elemental damage source when the boss is about to resist the element that carried your opening attacks.
- Keep Mogra instead of adding another attacker when Doomfire, Flame stacks or Max HP reduction are ending runs before your damage matters.
- Keep Burning Spice in Episode 11 or 12 unless another Cookie clearly outperforms the episode’s ATK Up interaction for your account.
How to build a Rajapendra Raid team
Know the season restrictions
The raid is time-limited and divided into four seasons. Seasons 1 through 3 restrict which elemental Cookies you can select. Season 4 permits all elements, while Mogra is allowed in every season. Check the season’s selectable element before spending resources on a lineup; a theoretically strong Cookie is irrelevant if the rules exclude that element.
Activate elemental resonance without creating a trap
When at least three Cookies use skills of the same element, each of those qualifying Cookies grants 15% Element-type ATK. Three qualifying Cookies therefore provide three separate 15% bonuses, but the concentration has a cost: after transformation, the boss resists the element that dealt the most attacks.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Choose the element you can field most reliably in the current season.
- Put at least three skill users of that element in the team so the 15%-per-Cookie bonus activates.
- Assign the other slots to a second element, support or timing tool rather than automatically adding a fourth or fifth Cookie of the first element.
- Watch which element is producing the most attacks before each transformation.
- After the boss adapts, shift your strongest casts to the element it does not resist, or time the second element’s burst for the post-transformation window.
This is a planning problem, not a simple “stack five of one element” test. Concentration wins the opening damage race; a second element preserves damage after the boss changes its defenses.
Plan around transformations
The boss transforms once on Normal difficulty and twice on Hard. Each transformation updates its resistance based on the element that delivered the most attacks. Save a meaningful burst, summon or debuff application for the phase after the resistance change instead of firing every skill at the opening target. If your team cannot control attack distribution, favor a balanced two-element setup and use the same-element bonus as an opening advantage rather than your entire strategy.
Build for ranking, not one lucky clear
Raid ranking uses the sum of your three highest battle scores, with difficulty multipliers applied. A lineup that produces one spectacular score but repeatedly fails the other attempts is usually worse than a stable team that can post three strong results. Record which season, difficulty, element plan and transformation timing produced each score, then improve the lowest of your three results first.
Handle Doomfire deliberately
Doomfire inflicts continuous damage and an ATK-weakening debuff. Mogra can dispel that effect. Bring her when the debuff or damage-over-time pressure prevents your team from completing another attack cycle; choose an additional attacker only when your existing sustain already survives Doomfire comfortably.

Rajapendra is a Beast Charge Front Cookie. His skill begins a Rampage, damages nearby enemies and grants allies Rampaging Power. He then summons a Fire Centipede that damages all enemies, applies Burn and continuous damage, and places Brand of Mortality. Brand can affect even Cookies that are untargetable, so temporary targeting protection does not remove the pressure from the debuff.
At battle start, Spice of Mortality targets the front Cookie with the highest maximum HP. If that target is defeated, the effect transfers to another eligible target. In practice, Rajapendra’s opening pressure is strongest against teams that rely on one unusually durable front line. Protect your own front line long enough to complete his Rampage, and avoid treating his area damage as a substitute for the elemental plan required by the raid.
Mogra Cookie: sustain, control and Seed support
Mogra is an Epic Healing Rear Cookie whose basic attacks heal allies and build Story Records. Her Storytelling skill converts those records into healing over time, HP Shields and DMG Resist, while also stunning enemies. Burning Spice Cookie receives a stronger DMG Resist buff from her skill than other allies.
The skill spreads a Story whose effects scale with the number of consumed stacks. At maximum stacks, the Story also grants an All-type CRIT DMG buff. That makes Mogra more than an emergency healer: she can turn a stabilized team into a stronger damage cycle once enough records have been accumulated.

Episode 11: countering Flame of Annihilation
What the effect does
From the stage named Faint Scent of Jasmine onward, enemies periodically gain stacking Flame of Annihilation buffs that increase their ATK SPD. When those enemies attack, they consume a stack and inflict Max HP and DMG Dealt debuffs on the target. The longer you leave the effect unmanaged, the more likely your team is to lose both survivability and damage output.
Burning Spice Cookie and Rajapendra Cookie receive ATK Up instead of the episode’s ordinary offensive debuff. Mogra receives greatly increased ATK and DMG Dampening, so the update’s three featured Cookies are unusually well suited to this episode.
Use Seed of Change at the right moment
Seed of Change blooms to cleanse Flame of Annihilation debuffs from allies and restore HP. It charges whenever every stack on an enemy expires or an enemy becomes Incapacitated. Mogra significantly increases the charge rate, so include her when your run depends on getting a cleanse before the next stack sequence.

- Continue attacking so stacks can expire, or incapacitate enemies to trigger additional charge progress.
- Use the Seed of Change after the debuffs have landed rather than wasting it before the dangerous stacks are consumed.
- Rebuild charge while maintaining Mogra’s Story Records and shields for the next cycle.
Episode 12: managing Flame of Mortality
Why the effect is more punishing
From The Pulse of Change, enemies periodically gain stacking Flame of Mortality buffs that increase DMG Dampening. Their attacks consume stacks to reduce the target’s Max HP and damage dealt, add Burn damage and, when all stacks are consumed, restore the enemies’ HP. This combines damage reduction, healing and offensive weakening, so simply adding another fragile attacker can make a run shorter rather than faster.
Burning Spice and Rajapendra gain ATK Up instead of the normal debuff, while Mogra again gains greatly increased ATK and DMG Dampening. Their update-specific advantages make the Rajapendra–Mogra–Burning Spice core a strong starting point for Episode 12.
Seed of Change now covers both episodes
In Episode 12, Seed of Change cleanses both Flame of Annihilation and Flame of Mortality debuffs and restores HP. It charges when enemy stacks expire or when enemies become Incapacitated, and Mogra greatly increases its charge rate. Time the bloom after the Max HP, damage and Burn effects have been applied; using it too early leaves the next stack cycle intact.
Version 7.9 Toppings choices
Version 7.9 added Toppings Sets, Mirror Toppings and Resonant Toppings. Two new set families are relevant to the update:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →| Set | Availability and use |
|---|---|
| Pride-Filled Toppings | Broadly equipable by eligible rarities; useful when you need a flexible set across several Cookies. |
| Cycle-Burning Toppings | At launch, restricted to Rajapendra, Mogra and Burning Spice, making it the targeted option for this update’s featured core. |
The patch reference lists Raspberry, Walnut, Peanut, Apple Jelly, Chocolate, Almond, Hazelnut, Candy and Kiwi variants for both sets. Select the variant that supports your role: offensive stats for a damage Cookie, cooldown or survival-oriented stats for a support, and enough durability for a front Cookie expected to endure transformation phases. Mirror and Resonant versions should be treated as build options, not automatic upgrades; compare the completed stat profile with the demands of the stage.
A practical battle checklist
- Before entry: verify the raid season’s allowed elements and identify which three Cookies will activate the 15%-per-Cookie elemental bonus.
- At the opening: let Rajapendra establish Rampaging Power and Fire Centipede pressure while Mogra builds Story Records.
- Before a transformation: note which element is generating the most attacks and prepare a different element or delayed burst.
- During debuff cycles: watch Flame stacks, Doomfire and Max HP reduction instead of waiting for the health bar alone to signal danger.
- For Seed of Change: charge through expiring stacks or incapacitated enemies, then bloom after the harmful debuffs are present.
- For ranking: save the three best battle scores and improve the weakest score, because the ranking total uses three scores rather than one.
Common mistakes and fixes
Stacking one element for the entire raid
The same-element bonus is valuable, but the transformed boss resists the element that attacked it most. Keep a second element or a timing plan so your damage does not collapse after the resistance change.
Dropping Mogra for a fifth damage dealer
If Doomfire, Flame debuffs or Max HP reduction ends the run, another attacker contributes less than Mogra’s cleanse, shields and accelerated Seed of Change. Test survival first, then remove support only when the team consistently reaches the next phase.
Using Seed of Change immediately
The Seed is most valuable after the relevant Flame debuffs have been applied. Firing it before the dangerous stacks resolve wastes the cleanse and delays the next useful bloom.
Ignoring score consistency
Because ranking adds your three highest scores, repeatable clears on the correct difficulty can beat a single high-roll attempt followed by failed runs. Standardize your opening rotation and transformation timing before chasing a more fragile damage build.
