Gameranx attributes the full-reboot possibility to Rebs Gaming and its unnamed source. The reported idea would reset Halo more broadly and focus on Master Chief’s origins. That describes an option reportedly under consideration, not a chosen story direction or an announced game.

The reporting describes two different possibilities, not two confirmed stages in a finalized plan. What else do the reports claim about the project?
Gameranx says Sledgehammer Games had worked on concepts and gameplay prototypes for both a multiplayer project and a story campaign, using Infinity Ward’s engine. GamingBolt also reports that Activision had considered separate free-to-play multiplayer and campaign-only projects before shifting to a combined package. These remain reported project details, not official confirmation of the studio, engine, or final format.
What has Activision confirmed?
GamingBolt quotes Activision president Rob Kostich as saying: “For Halo, our goal is clear: make the greatest Halo game ever, worthy of its universe and legacy, while staying true to what made players love it in the first place.” That is a stated ambition, not confirmation of a reboot, a continuity choice, or an origin story.

Is there a release date or platform list?
The reports do not establish a release date, final studio assignment, engine, final game package, or platforms for this rumored project. GamingBolt mentions PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in connection with Halo: Campaign Evolved; those platforms refer to that existing title, not necessarily Activision’s rumored project.
