It uses observed information from your Counter-Strike and Steam activity to place players who are more likely to have a good experience together. Valve has named examples such as Counter-Strike play time, cheating reports, time spent in other Steam games, a phone number and Counter-Strike rank, but it does not publish the complete factor list, weights or a personal score.
You cannot repair Trust Factor with a single purchase, commendation, setting or fixed number of matches. The evidence-backed approach is to play legitimately over time, behave constructively, avoid cheating-related software behavior, use Trusted Mode when practical, and avoid accounts with someone else’s history. A poor match can also result from region, time of day, map selection or the available player pool, so one bad lobby does not prove that your Trust Factor is low.

What Trust Factor means in CS2
Trust Factor is an account-level matchmaking signal created by Valve. It is designed to help Counter-Strike players meet opponents and teammates whose observed history is compatible with a fair, cooperative match. The system looks beyond the old Prime boundary and incorporates behavior associated with both Counter-Strike and the wider Steam account.

Valve introduced the system to improve match quality rather than to give players a visible rating. The company has said that the experiment resulted in fewer reports in matches, but it has not published a percentage or any other numerical measurement. That qualitative result should not be turned into a claim about how much any individual player’s score changes.

Trust Factor is not the same thing as Competitive Skill Group, Premier rating, a commendation count or a public reputation label. Those systems may describe different parts of a player’s experience. Trust Factor is a matchmaking input that Valve keeps hidden and updates over time.
How the hidden matchmaking system works
When the game searches for a match, Trust Factor is considered alongside ordinary matchmaking constraints such as region, selected maps, queue type and the players currently available. The goal is to form a group in which the participants’ observed histories are broadly compatible.
Valve does not publish the formula, thresholds or relative importance of individual inputs. It also says the system is continually updated. That means a community-made list of “confirmed weights,” a color-coded score or a precise recovery recipe is speculation unless Valve has directly documented it.
The party rule that matters most
If you queue with friends, Valve says matchmaking uses the lowest Trust Factor of any individual in the party. A single party member with a weaker history can therefore affect the quality of the group’s search. This does not mean that person has been formally labeled a cheater; it means the party is matched using the least favorable Trust Factor represented in that party.
Why a match is not a score report
Match quality changes with time of day, geographical region, maps queued and the size of the available player pool. A difficult lobby, a teammate who abandons or a match containing suspicious behavior can therefore have several explanations. Treating one game as proof of a “red” or “yellow” score is not supported by Valve’s public information.

Factors Valve has publicly named
Valve’s Trust Factor FAQ gives examples rather than a complete formula. The following table separates what Valve has explicitly mentioned from what remains unknown.
| Observed element | What Valve has said | What you should not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Counter-Strike play time | Overall time playing Counter-Strike is among the examples used by the system. | There is no published hour target or guarantee that grinding a particular number of matches raises Trust. |
| Reports for cheating | How frequently a user was reported for cheating is an example of account information considered. | Valve has not published a numerical penalty for one report, a threshold of reports or a way to distinguish every report type. |
| Other Steam games | Time spent playing other Steam games is listed as an example of broader Steam-account history. | Buying games, spending money or owning a large library is not documented as a Trust increase. |
| Phone number | A phone number is among the factors Valve has named. Phone history also formed part of earlier Prime benefits. | Adding a number is not a published guarantee of a score change, and Valve does not state a universal amount. |
| Counter-Strike rank | Counter-Strike rank is another named factor. | Reaching a particular rank is not documented as a Trust threshold or shortcut. |
| Steam-account behavior | Valve describes a wider range of observed Steam behavior than the old Prime boundary. | The complete list, weights and update schedule are not public. |
These examples describe the kinds of history Valve has acknowledged, not a checklist that players can optimize mechanically. The system can use additional signals, and the company has specifically declined to publish the full factor list.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteCan you see your Trust Factor?
No. Valve has said it does not plan to display a personal Trust Factor. There is no official green, yellow or red meter, no supported command that reveals a score and no Valve page that converts your account history into a number.
Websites, browser extensions, console commands or screenshots that claim to reveal an exact score should be treated skeptically. Even if a community tool notices patterns in lobbies, it cannot establish Valve’s private value or its weighting. Giving a third party your credentials to “check” Trust also creates an unnecessary account-security risk.
Why you may be getting poor lobbies
A run of unpleasant matches can be frustrating, but it is not enough to diagnose a low Trust Factor. Consider the following explanations before changing your account or computer:

- Queue conditions: The player pool changes by region, time of day, map and queue type. A thin pool can force broader matches.
- Party composition: The lowest Trust Factor in a party is used for the group’s matchmaking.
- Normal variance: Abandonments, arguments, uneven skill and suspicious opponents occur in individual matches without proving a persistent account issue.
- Recent history: Trust is based on observed information over time, so a new or recently changed account may not yet have much history for the system to evaluate.
- Software mode: Launching outside Trusted Mode can expose the game to third-party file interaction patterns that Valve says may affect Trust over time.
Use several sessions and different queue conditions when judging whether a problem is persistent. Do not assume that a single opponent’s accusation, a single report or a single match result identifies your account’s status.
How to improve matchmaking quality, step by step
1. Play Counter-Strike and Steam games legitimately
Continue playing Counter-Strike 2 and other Steam games without cheats, unauthorized modifications or attempts to manipulate matchmaking. Valve says that more legitimate play gives the system more information and makes it easier to determine who should be matched with you. This is an accumulation of authentic account history, not a one-session repair.
2. Keep conduct constructive
Avoid harassment, abusive chat, griefing, deliberate team damage, match manipulation and other behavior that can generate credible reports. Valve’s public instruction is to be “a positive member of the CS:GO and Steam community.” It has not published a separate penalty table for insults, a particular chat message or one report, so do not assign a made-up numerical effect to any individual incident.
3. Prefer Trusted Mode when your setup allows it
Use the default Trusted Mode unless a legitimate compatibility requirement prevents you from doing so. Trusted Mode is enabled by default and blocks third-party files from interacting with CS2. Valve explains that software-injection patterns can become associated with cheating over time, which can negatively affect Trust.
4. Remove unnecessary injection or overlay tools
Review software that injects files, hooks into the game or modifies its process. Keep only tools you genuinely need and use versions that are compatible with the game. This is a risk-reduction step, not proof that a particular overlay automatically lowers Trust.

5. Do not buy or borrow a premade account
An acquired Steam account brings its existing Trust Factor and history with it. Valve warns that premade accounts commonly have very low Trust and advises players not to acquire accounts. Starting with your own account gives the system a history that reflects your own legitimate activity.
6. Allow time for new information to accumulate
Valve does not publish a recovery timetable. Keep playing normally rather than trying to manufacture a target number of matches, hours or reports. Any timetable stated as guaranteed is unsupported by the official material.
Steam Support describes Trusted Mode as a protection that blocks third-party files from interacting with Counter-Strike 2, and it is enabled by default. Valve’s concern is not limited to software that a player believes is harmless: patterns of injection or process interaction can resemble cheating behavior when observed over time. Launching in normal, non-Trusted mode is not an automatic Trust penalty. Valve explicitly says that playing outside Trusted Mode does not guarantee a Trust-score penalty or automatic separation from Trusted Mode players. The practical distinction is that non-Trusted mode removes a protection and can expose the account to software-injection patterns that may influence Trust. If a tool is not essential, the lower-risk choice is to close it and use the default mode. Prime Status and Trust Factor are related to the broader matchmaking environment but are not interchangeable guarantees. Valve has named a phone number and Counter-Strike rank as Trust-related examples, and earlier Prime benefits also involved a phone number and in-game experience. That historical connection does not establish that purchasing anything, adding a number today or reaching a specific rank will produce a guaranteed Trust change. Do these 3 things before closing this tab: A phone number can be useful for account-security and eligibility reasons, but Valve has not published a formula that converts verification into a fixed Trust increase. Likewise, rank reflects play performance; it is one named input, not a publicly documented Trust threshold. These claims may circulate in community discussions, but they should not be presented as Valve-approved methods. The absence of a published effect is important: it means you cannot calculate a return from any of these actions. Valve has not published a recovery duration, decay rate, score threshold or schedule for reassessment. Legitimate play supplies new information, but the system may update continuously and the amount of history needed can differ between accounts. Use a long-term standard instead of a countdown: keep your conduct consistent, avoid unauthorized software interaction and let normal play provide a reliable record. If a guide promises recovery in a fixed number of days or matches, that promise is not supported by Valve’s public documentation. What’s actually slowing this PC down? Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away. If matchmaking quality remains poor after you have ruled out those conditions, email Valve with the subject line Trust Factor Feedback. Include a clear description of what you are experiencing and your Steam ID. This channel is for feedback; Valve does not promise a manual score reset or disclose the hidden value in response. Do not give your Steam login, session tokens or two-factor codes to a site claiming it can inspect or repair Trust. Do not purchase an account as a replacement. An account transfer can move an unfavorable history to you rather than solving the underlying issue. Trust Factor is a hidden, evolving Valve assessment based on account history and observed behavior. The reliable path is deliberately unglamorous: play Counter-Strike 2 and other Steam games legitimately, treat other players constructively, avoid cheating-related software behavior, use Trusted Mode when compatible, and keep ownership of your own account. Prime Status, a phone number, rank, commendations, spending, VPNs, reinstalls and hardware purchases do not come with a published Trust guarantee. Because Valve provides no visible score or recovery timetable, judge progress by sustained legitimate play and match quality over time rather than by community-made labels or promised shortcuts.
