To host Create a Colony – MineColonies / Create / MCA, first lock the exact CurseForge release, Minecraft Java Edition version (the listed pack targets 1.19.2), and Forge build. Then either deploy a matching server pack through a managed host or install the same Forge release and mod files on your own machine. Every player must use the identical pack release, Forge loader, and configuration files.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
This guide covers both deployment methods, the settings that matter after installation, player onboarding, and the version and connection errors that most often prevent a modded server from starting.

Create a Colony – MineColonies / Create / MCA combines MineColonies settlement management with Create-style automation and the MCA content included by its listing. The specific listing discussed here is a Minecraft 1.19.2 Forge modpack. MineColonies itself has releases for several Minecraft versions and both Forge and NeoForge environments, so a MineColonies file from another project or version is not interchangeable with this pack.
MineColonies supplies the town-management systems: players establish a settlement, assign NPC workers, construct specialized buildings, automate production, and defend the colony. Typical roles include builders, farmers, guards, miners, bakers, cooks, couriers, and animal herders. A developed town can include a warehouse, town hall, barracks, library, university, and school. Create provides the engineering theme and machinery used to move and process resources, making logistics a shared planning problem rather than a collection of isolated single-player builds.

Pin these four items before downloading
- The exact Create a Colony – MineColonies / Create / MCA release number.
- Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.2, unless the release page explicitly identifies another version.
- The Forge build required by that release.
- The matching server pack, if the release publishes one, plus any configuration files shipped with it.
Write those values in a short server note and give the note to every player. Do not let the launcher automatically update one client while the server remains on an older release.
Choose hosted or self-hosted deployment
The right route depends on how much control you need and who will operate the machine. A managed server removes port-forwarding and most operating-system work. Self-hosting gives you direct control over files, backups, and configuration but makes you responsible for networking and maintenance.

| Setup effort | Lower: select the pack and server pack in the hosting workflow, choose a plan and region, then use the provider panel. | Higher: install Forge, assemble or unpack server files, configure the machine, and operate the process yourself. |
| Control | Provider panel controls the instance; file and service access depend on the plan. | Direct control of the server directory, launch script, logs, mods, configs, and backups. |
| Recurring cost | Requires a hosting plan; current price depends on region and plan and is not stated for this pack. | No separate hosting fee if you use your own hardware, but electricity, bandwidth, and maintenance remain your responsibility. |
| Port forwarding | Not normally required for the hosted workflow. | Usually required on the home router, unless all players connect through a network arrangement that avoids inbound forwarding. |
| Backups | Use the provider’s backup tools when included, and verify how restores work. | You choose the backup destination, schedule, retention, and restore procedure. |
| Server-pack availability | The CurseForge workflow depends on a matching server pack being available. | Use the server pack when published; otherwise assemble the server and mods from the same release. |
| Player count and performance | Choose a plan appropriate to your expected players and automation load; no pack-specific RAM recommendation is established. | Test your hardware with the intended player count and machines; no universal RAM number is established for this pack. |
Hosted setup with CurseForge Servers
CurseForge’s server workflow is the simplest path when the selected pack has a matching server pack. The service is powered by Shockbyte, while billing, regions, and available plans are presented during setup and can change over time.
1. Confirm that a server pack exists
In the CurseForge app, identify the exact pack release you intend to run and check whether that release publishes a server-pack artifact. The filename is release-specific; do not assume that a server pack from another version will work. If no matching server pack is offered, use the self-hosting method or a host that explicitly supports assembling this release.

2. Start the server workflow
- Open CurseForge and select Servers.
- Select Create a Colony – MineColonies / Create / MCA.
- Choose the server-pack filename that corresponds to the pinned pack release.
- Select a plan and a region. Treat the displayed price and availability as current, regional values rather than permanent pack specifications.
- Enter the server name and requested account or instance details.
- Finish creation and open the instance in the provider’s management panel.
The resulting panel normally provides the start and stop controls, console, file access, and any included backup functions. Read the panel’s status and console before inviting anyone; a server that has not completed its first startup is not ready for players.
3. Record the connection details
Copy the address and port shown by the provider. Send them privately to the intended players, and keep the address out of public posts if this is a small friends-only world. Turn on the whitelist before the first public connection.

4. Check the client installation
Have one player launch the client profile for the same pack release and Forge loader. Join as a test account before announcing the server. A successful test confirms that the server pack and client profile agree; it does not prove that a different release or manually modified client will work.
Self-hosting the Forge server
Self-hosting is appropriate when you want complete file access, custom backup policies, or a machine already available for Minecraft. The exact launch command and Java requirements are supplied by the chosen Forge distribution and pack release, so use the files included with that release rather than copying a command from another Minecraft version.

1. Install the exact Forge build
- Read the pack release information and note the required Minecraft version and Forge build.
- Install the Forge server for that Minecraft version on the machine that will run the world. The MineColonies installation guidance uses Forge for this CurseForge-oriented setup.
- Create a dedicated directory for this server. Keeping it separate from vanilla worlds and other modpacks prevents accidental mixing of files.
2. Add the server pack or matching mods
If the pack publishes a server pack, unpack it into the server directory and preserve its directory structure. If no server pack exists, assemble the server installation from the same pack release and place every required mod JAR in the server’s mods folder. Do not copy a client’s mods folder from a different release and hope that the loader will resolve the difference; missing dependencies and incompatible versions commonly stop startup.
3. Perform the first launch
- Start the server once with the Forge launch script or command supplied by the distribution.
- Read the console output until startup stops for input or reports a completed initialization.
- Accept Minecraft’s EULA in the file created by that server distribution, as required by its current terms.
- Stop the process cleanly before making configuration changes.
The first run may create directories, libraries, configuration files, and the world folder. If the console reports a dependency, loader, or Java error, fix that error before proceeding; repeatedly restarting with the same incompatible files will not repair the installation.
4. Configure server.properties
Open the generated server.properties and set the policy you want before inviting players. At minimum, review:
- Server port: keep the default only if it does not conflict with another service; otherwise choose an available port and use that same value in router and player instructions.
- Difficulty: select the world challenge appropriate for your group.
- Whitelist: enable it for a private friends’ server and add players by their Java Edition usernames.
- View distance: start conservatively and raise it only after observing performance with your actual player and machine count.
- Other policy settings: review PvP, command, spawn, and gameplay options before the world becomes established.
Exact property names and defaults can differ by Minecraft distribution. Preserve a copy of the original file so you can identify later changes.

5. Start, monitor, and expose the server
- Start the server with the supplied Forge script or command.
- Watch the console for missing-mod, wrong-version, dependency, or world-generation errors.
- Create a backup of the server directory and world after a clean startup, before opening access.
- Configure router port forwarding and the machine firewall for the chosen port if outside players must connect directly.
- Share the public address and port privately, and keep the whitelist enabled.
Never test port forwarding by publishing your home address in a public forum. Give players only the connection information they need.
Player connection checklist
Every player must reproduce the server’s software environment, not merely install MineColonies. Before troubleshooting a connection, ask the player to verify each item:
- Minecraft Java Edition, 1.19.2 for the listed pack release.
- The same Forge loader build used by the server.
- The same Create a Colony – MineColonies / Create / MCA release.
- The same required mods in the client profile.
- The same configuration files when the server pack or release supplies them.
- The correct server address and port.
A matching server pack is the cleanest deployment artifact when one is available. If the client reports a missing mod or mismatched version, compare the client’s mods and configuration directories against the release used by the server before changing Java, router, or world settings.
Plan the colony before the first build
MineColonies worlds become easier to operate when the group agrees on ownership and logistics early. Decide who places the initial town hall, who can add or remove workers, and how new players claim building space. A simple written plan should answer:
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
- Who has permission to make colony-wide changes?
- Will the group operate one shared colony or several independent colonies?
- Where are public farms, warehouses, Create factories, roads, and residential areas?
- How are rare resources and machine components allocated?
- Who handles defenses, repairs, and backups?
The town hall, warehouse, and courier network form the practical backbone of a shared settlement. Builders and resource workers keep construction moving, while guards and barracks address threats. Create machinery can support mining, farming, smelting, and transport, but automated lines still need agreed locations and maintenance access. Establishing these boundaries prevents a machine line from blocking a worker building or a private project from consuming the colony’s shared stock.

| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Server stops with a missing-mod or dependency error. | A mod JAR is absent, from another pack release, or built for a different loader. | Compare the server’s mods folder with the pinned release and replace the complete set rather than adding random files. |
| Client reports an incompatible mod or loader version. | The player selected a different Minecraft, Forge, or pack version. | Create a fresh client profile for the exact server release and remove the old profile’s overrides. |
| Server starts locally but friends cannot join. | Wrong address or port, blocked firewall, missing port forwarding, or a provider instance that is still stopped. | Confirm the provider status or local console, verify the configured port, then check firewall and router rules. Do not change mods until basic network reachability is confirmed. |
| Players join but experience severe delays. | View distance, world generation, or Create automation is exceeding available processing capacity. | Lower view distance, pause unusually large machine lines, inspect console warnings, and add players gradually. There is no pack-specific RAM figure that guarantees a result. |
| Colony workers will not perform a task. | The required building, worker assignment, resource, or permission is missing. | Check the building’s status, worker role, courier and warehouse access, and the colony permissions before rebuilding the modpack. |
| A world or colony appears to have reverted. | The wrong world directory was started or a restore used an outdated backup. | Stop the server, identify the active world path in the launch configuration, and restore only after preserving the current directory. |
Backups, updates, and version discipline
Back up the world and the server configuration before installing a new pack release, changing Forge, adding a mod, or restructuring a large Create factory. Keep more than one dated backup and store at least one copy away from the running machine. A backup is useful only if you know which world directory it contains and have tested that the files can be restored.
For an update, stop the server cleanly, copy the complete existing installation, read the new release’s server-pack and Forge requirements, and test the updated copy before replacing the live instance. Never update only the client or only the server. MineColonies and Create changes can alter block, recipe, worker, or configuration behavior, so treat a release change as a migration and keep the original world untouched until the new version has been verified.
How to choose the finished setup
Choose the hosted CurseForge route when you have a matching server pack and want the provider to handle the machine, network exposure, and basic controls. Choose self-hosting when direct access to scripts, logs, configurations, and custom backups matters more than convenience. In either case, the reliable formula is the same: one pinned pack release, one matching Forge server, one documented connection address, and clients installed from that exact release.
