What you need to install
Create – Forge Frontier is a Create-focused modpack from LandscapesReimagined. It combines automation with exploration, quests, custom progression, redesigned dimensions and late-game planetary content. The supported v3.1.5 target is Minecraft 1.20.1 with the Forge loader.
| Component | Required target | What to download or verify |
|---|---|---|
| Server pack | Create – Forge Frontier v3.1.5 | Create - Forge Frontier - v3.1.5 Server Pack.zip, approximately 1.1 GB |
| Player client | Create – Forge Frontier v3.1.5 | The v3.1.5 client profile, approximately 332.0 MB, installed through CurseForge or a launcher that can reproduce the same profile |
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 | Use this version on both the server and every client |
| Mod loader | Forge | Read the exact Forge build from the release files; the public project page does not state the build number |
| Java | The version required by the supplied launch files | Read the Java requirement in the pack’s scripts, installer metadata or README instead of guessing |
The project pages do not publish a precise Java major version or Forge build number. Those values can change between releases, so inspect the files you actually downloaded and use the same runtime and Forge build for the server and clients.

Before you download: lock the version
Decide on v3.1.5 before creating the server directory. Do not combine a v3.1.5 client with an older server pack, or use a normal client ZIP as a dedicated server. Forge checks the installed mod set during login; even a small version difference can cause a missing-mod, channel or registry mismatch.
Choose a clean server directory
Create a directory used only by this server. An otherwise-empty folder makes it easier to identify the pack’s scripts, keep backups, and roll back an update. Do not extract the ZIP into an existing vanilla world or into another modpack’s folder. Keep the original ZIP outside the live directory so you can rebuild the installation if a file is deleted or modified.

Plan memory and disk space
The project author recommends at least 4 GB of RAM. For a larger factory, several players or long sessions, allocate 6–8 GB instead. These are project recommendations rather than an independent benchmark. Leave enough memory for the operating system and other services; assigning all physical RAM to Java can make a server less stable, not more.
The server archive itself is about 1.1 GB. The world, logs, backups and generated dimensions will require additional disk space, especially after players explore in several directions. Keep free space available before starting a long-running world and monitor the directory as it grows.

Download and extract the official server pack
- Open the Create – Forge Frontier v3.1.5 release page from LandscapesReimagined.
- Download the asset named
Create - Forge Frontier - v3.1.5 Server Pack.zip. Select the dedicated-server asset, not the ordinary client download. - Make a new, dedicated server folder and extract the complete ZIP into it. Preserve the directory structure supplied by the author; do not move individual mods into a separate folder.
- Locate the included launch files and read any README or setup note before starting. These files contain the pack’s intended Forge launch arguments and may identify the required Java runtime.
- Record the Java major version and Forge build shown by the files. Install that Java version if it is not already available, and plan to use it for every client as well.
The supplied launch files are part of the server distribution. Use them instead of replacing them with a vanilla Forge command. Substituting a generic command can omit JVM arguments, libraries or paths that the pack expects.
First launch and basic server configuration
Run the launch script included in the extracted pack. On Windows this is normally the supplied batch launcher; on Linux or another Unix-like system it is normally the supplied shell launcher. Use the exact file shipped with v3.1.5 rather than inventing a filename or command.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Start the included launcher once. The first run may create libraries, configuration files, a world directory and an EULA file before the server can continue.
- Read the Minecraft EULA notice and accept it in the generated EULA file only if you agree to its terms. The server will not complete startup until the EULA requirement is satisfied.
- Start the same launcher again and wait for the console to report that the server is ready. The initial run can take longer while Forge and the modpack create registries and configuration data.
- Stop the server cleanly from its console before editing configuration files or copying the world. Avoid closing the terminal forcefully while chunks are saving.
- Open
server.propertiesand review the server name, game settings, view and simulation distances, difficulty, player limit, spawn protection and network port. Save a backup of the original file before making major changes. - Set operator access deliberately and configure a whitelist if the server is private. Add only the accounts that should join; do not publish an operator account or leave administrative access to an unknown player.
- Configure a backup routine before inviting players. At minimum, retain a copy of the complete world directory and the server configuration while the server is stopped.
Do not assume a particular port from a generic Minecraft guide. Use the port displayed in server.properties, make the corresponding firewall or router rule only when necessary, and avoid exposing the server until a local test succeeds.
Install the matching client profile
Every player needs the v3.1.5 client profile on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge. The project’s manual instructions are to download the latest release, install the required Forge version, place the files in the Minecraft instance and allocate memory. A CurseForge profile is the simplest way to reproduce the published mod list; another launcher is acceptable only if it produces the same files and versions.

- Create or import a profile for Create – Forge Frontier v3.1.5.
- Confirm that the profile uses Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge, not Fabric, NeoForge or another Minecraft version.
- Allow the launcher to finish downloading the complete mod list and configuration files. Do not add optional mods until the unmodified profile can connect.
- Set the client’s memory allocation to at least 4 GB. Use 6–8 GB when the client is loading a large factory, many dimensions or a long multiplayer session, provided the computer has adequate total memory.
- Launch once in single-player or at the title screen to verify that Forge loads without a crash, then close the game before joining the server.
The client and server do not need identical graphical settings, but they do need compatible mod, Minecraft and Forge versions. A resource pack, shader or client-only performance mod can be added later after the base profile works.
Test locally before sharing the address
- Start the server with the supplied launcher and wait for the ready message.
- From the same computer, or from another device on the same network, use the server address and port configured in
server.properties. - Join with the v3.1.5 client and watch the server console while the player logs in. Confirm that the player can move, open a container and place or break a block.
- Test a second account if multiplayer is the goal. This catches whitelist, authentication, port and memory problems that a single local connection may hide.
- Stop the server normally and check that the world timestamp and logs update. Keep the original ZIP and a copy of the world before opening external access.
If the local connection works but an outside player cannot connect, investigate the firewall, router forwarding, address and port separately. Do not change mod files to fix a networking problem.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow much RAM should you allocate?
| Allocation | Best fit | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| 4 GB | Minimum project guidance; a small private server or ordinary client session | Start here only when the machine has operating-system headroom and the world is not a large, busy factory |
| 6 GB | Several players or a growing automation base | A sensible middle setting when chunk loading and mod activity are increasing |
| 8 GB | Larger factories, extended sessions and busier multiplayer | Use only when the host computer has enough total memory; more allocation is not a substitute for diagnosing a runaway process or overloaded world |
The author supplies the 4 GB minimum and 6–8 GB recommendation; no independent player-count limit, TPS benchmark or hardware minimum has been published. Watch actual memory pressure, garbage-collection pauses and operating-system swap activity instead of treating 8 GB as a guaranteed performance target.
World compatibility and safe updates
| World origin | Upgrade to v3.1.5? | Required action |
|---|---|---|
| Created in v3.0.0 or later | Supported | Make a complete backup while the server is stopped, then test the copy on v3.1.5 before replacing the live world |
| Created before v3.0.0 | Not supported for a direct continuation | Start a new world; v3.0.0 changed progression, world generation, storage, recipes, structures, dimensions and core gameplay |
Version 3.1.5 is described as a maintenance, performance and stability release without major progression or world-generation changes. That makes a v3.0.0-or-newer world the supported upgrade path, but it does not remove the need for a backup.

A reliable update procedure
- Announce a maintenance window and stop the current server cleanly.
- Copy the entire world directory, the server properties file, whitelist and operator files, and any important configuration or scripts to a dated backup location.
- Keep the old server installation untouched. Extract the v3.1.5 Server Pack into a new directory rather than overwriting the old files.
- Inspect the new launch files for the required Java and Forge values, then install or select that runtime.
- Copy only the intended world and carefully reviewed configuration into the new installation. Do not blindly overwrite new modpack configuration with every old file.
- Start the new server privately and check the console for registry, recipe, dimension and chunk-loading errors.
- Join with a matching v3.1.5 client, inspect important bases and machines, and only then switch the public address to the new installation.
Changes in v3.1.5 that matter to server operators
Chunk loaders replace Create Power Loader
The release replaces Create Power Loader with Chunk Loaders and adds Create-based chunk-loader crafting and progression. Existing automation that depended on the old loader may need inspection after the update. Verify which chunks remain active, whether recipes are available at the expected progression stage and whether machines behave correctly when no player is nearby.
KubeJS recipes and registries changed
Updated KubeJS recipes and registries can alter crafting outcomes or the availability of an item. If a familiar recipe appears missing, check the v3.1.5 pack data before assuming that the server failed to load. Avoid copying old scripts into the new installation unless you know they are still compatible.
Natural mob spawning was adjusted
Several mobs have changed natural-spawn behavior. A farm that previously depended on a particular population may produce different results, and a newly generated area may feel more or less active than an old one. Check the server log and in-game conditions before changing unrelated performance settings.
ServerCore distance settings were reduced
The release lowers ServerCore distance settings as part of its optimization work. This can affect how far entities or activity are processed and may change the feel of a busy base. Treat the shipped settings as the baseline, then change one setting at a time while watching server behavior.

Troubleshooting common setup failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The server stops immediately on first launch | EULA not accepted, missing Java, or the wrong Java major version | Read the console, satisfy the EULA requirement, and use the Java version identified by the v3.1.5 scripts or README |
| Client reports missing mods or a channel mismatch | Client and server are on different releases, Minecraft versions, Forge builds or mod files | Reinstall the exact v3.1.5 client profile and compare it with the official v3.1.5 Server Pack; do not add or remove mods until a clean profile connects |
| Forge reports a registry or dependency error | Files were copied from another pack, an old configuration was overlaid, or the server was launched with a substitute command | Restore a clean extraction of the server ZIP and use its supplied launcher; reapply only deliberate configuration changes |
| Players on the same network can join, but outside players cannot | Firewall, router forwarding, address or port configuration | Verify the port in server.properties, permit the Java process in the firewall and test the external address without changing the mod list |
| The server runs out of memory or pauses heavily | Large automation, extensive exploration, too little allocation or insufficient host headroom | Check operating-system memory use, reduce unnecessary view or simulation distance, pause heavy machines while diagnosing, and move from 4 GB toward 6–8 GB only when the host can support it |
| A pre-v3.0.0 world behaves incorrectly | That world is outside the supported direct-upgrade path | Create a new world and keep the old save as an archive; do not attempt to force conversion by deleting random data folders |
| Chunk-loaded machines stop or behave differently | The v3.1.5 change from Create Power Loader to Chunk Loaders | Rebuild or reconfigure the affected chunk-loading setup using the new Chunk Loader progression and test it while the area is unloaded and reloaded |
Self-hosted server or managed hosting?
A local or rented machine gives you direct control over files, backups, Java, Forge arguments and network policy. It also makes you responsible for port forwarding, firewall rules, uptime, operating-system updates and recovery when the process stops.
The Create – Forge Frontier project FAQ says official server packs are released alongside the modpack and identifies BisectHosting as a one-click deployment option. Treat that as a hosting lead, not a guarantee of current availability. Before paying, verify that a v3.1.5 template is offered in your region, which Java and Forge build it installs, how backups work, the included memory, player limits, pricing, uptime terms and cancellation policy.
Recommended Free Tools
| Consideration | Self-hosted | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Control | Full access to files, scripts, Java and network settings | Depends on the provider’s panel and allowed settings |
| Initial setup | Download, extract, configure, secure and test everything yourself | Often includes a modpack template and one-click deployment, but confirm the template version |
| Recurring cost | Uses an existing computer or your own server and internet connection | Monthly service cost; compare the actual RAM, storage, backups and renewal price |
| Networking | You handle firewall and router access | The provider supplies an external address, while you still manage player permissions and pack versions |
| Recovery | You must maintain tested backups and restore procedures | Check whether automated backups are included, retained and downloadable |
For a small private group with an available computer, self-hosting is the most controllable route. Managed hosting is convenient when you do not want to maintain a machine or expose a home network, but the one-click label does not remove the need to confirm versions and backups.
Backups, administration and routine maintenance
Back up before every change
Stop the server cleanly before copying the world. Keep at least one recent local backup and one separate copy. Label backups with the date, pack version and world name so you can identify the correct restore point. A backup that has never been restored is only an assumption, so periodically test it in a separate v3.1.5 directory.
Keep the live installation reproducible
Save the original v3.1.5 Server Pack ZIP, the launch-file notes, the Java and Forge values you discovered, and the configuration files you intentionally changed. Avoid making undocumented edits directly inside the mod JARs. If a repair becomes complicated, a clean extraction plus a known-good world backup is safer than trying to remember every manual change.
Watch the console and logs
Review the console after updates and whenever a player reports a broken machine, missing recipe or unusual mob behavior. Keep an eye on repeated exceptions, failed chunk loads, registry warnings and long pauses. A single warning during startup is not automatically fatal, but repeated errors involving the same mod or dimension deserve investigation before the world grows further.

Control access
Use a whitelist for a private server, grant operator privileges sparingly and remove accounts that no longer need access. Share the address only after the local and second-account tests pass. If you later change the port or address, update your players and record the change with the server backup notes.
Quick Recap
Final setup checklist
- Minecraft is set to 1.20.1 on every client and the server.
- Forge is installed with the build identified by the v3.1.5 release files.
- The server was extracted from the official v3.1.5 Server Pack ZIP, not the client archive.
- The supplied launch files are being used, with the required Java runtime.
- The first launch completed after the EULA requirement was handled.
server.properties, port, whitelist, operator access and backups were reviewed.- Each player installed the matching v3.1.5 profile and allocated at least 4 GB of client memory.
- The server has 4 GB available at minimum, with 6–8 GB planned for larger factories or multiplayer when the host has sufficient headroom.
- A private join and a second-account test succeeded before external access was shared.
- The world is from v3.0.0 or newer, or a new world has been created for a pre-v3.0.0 save.
- A dated copy of the original ZIP and world backup is stored outside the live directory.
