What Creature Kitchen is and what this guide covers
Creature Kitchen combines exploration, light environmental puzzles, recipe collecting and creature photography. You explore a strange house and nearby forest, find ingredients and recipe cards, cook more than 40 dishes, photograph creatures and feed each one its preferred snacks. Progress is recorded through scrapbook pages, which also teach the game’s movement and investigation tools.

This guide puts the achievement warning first, then gives every documented keyboard function, the early cabinet and electrical-box solutions, the creature key quests, and a practical route through the 43 recipe cards and 16 scrapbook pages.
Creature Kitchen cheat codes and what each one does
Activate the cheat interface
- Load the save on which you intend to use cheats.
- Hold either left or right Alt key.
- While holding Alt, press Caps Lock and the backtick (`) key together.
- Use the same shortcut again when you want to enable or disable the cheat system.
The backtick is the small key usually above Tab and to the left of the number 1 on a US-layout keyboard. Keyboard layouts can move this character, so look for the key that produces a grave accent/backtick rather than relying on its printed position.
Achievement consequence
The developer-provided instructions reproduced in the community guide warn that, on Steam, achievements are permanently disabled after cheats are enabled. Disabling the system later is not enough. To regain achievement eligibility, return to the Main Menu and start a new game. Keep a separate non-cheat save or finish your achievement run before experimenting.

These are functions, not typed text codes. Press the listed key combination while the cheat system is active; there is no separate password field described for them.

How to open every door without breaking a puzzle run
Alt + U opens all doors. It is the fastest way to reach rooms that would normally require creature favors or keys, but it also bypasses the game’s intended order. If you are collecting scrapbook pages or learning the mechanics, open doors manually first so you know which areas belong to each quest.
The main progression keys documented in the walkthrough are tied to creature requests:
- Square-head key: Trash Cat obtains it after you feed the raccoon any two sandwiches. It opens the cheese cabinet.
- Heart key: the four mice known collectively as Them—Goob, Pird, Ashe and Conn—give it after you provide three cheese dishes. It opens the bedroom.
If a door remains confusing after using Alt + U, return to the creature route rather than repeatedly toggling the shortcut. A bypass can open the room but cannot replace ingredients, recipe cards or photographs needed for other progress flags.

Early puzzle solutions
Ornate cabinet and calendar code: 9174
- Inspect the calendar beside the ornate cabinet.
- Match each calendar symbol to the date number associated with that symbol.
- Read the resulting sequence in the cabinet’s input order.
- Enter 9174.
- Open the box and collect the Crackers and the Alfredo recipe card.
The important distinction is that 9174 comes from the symbol-to-date matches; it is not a generic cabinet password. If the box does not open, recheck that every symbol is matched before entering the four digits.

Electrical-box Lights Out puzzle
The early electrical box uses a Lights Out-style arrangement. Interacting with one switch changes the illuminated pattern, so solve the board by toggling switches until the required lights are off rather than by entering a numeric code. Completing the puzzle reveals a carrot and the Omelet recipe card.
The walkthrough does not publish a universal switch sequence. Treat the board in front of you as the authoritative layout: note which lights change together after each press, then work systematically from one edge until every required light is extinguished. If you lose track, exit and reopen the puzzle to observe the initial state again.
Other first-area finds
The opening exploration also introduces Spaghetti and Meatballs, Egg Sandwich, Cheese and Crackers, Meatball Sub, Grilled Cheese and PBJ Sandwich. Search kitchen surfaces, containers and nearby rooms rather than assuming every item is a finished dish: some discoveries are ingredients, while others are cards that unlock a cooking recipe.

Trash Cat
The first creature you photograph is Trash Cat, a raccoon. Its request is flexible: feed it any two sandwiches. Once satisfied, Trash Cat fetches the square-head key for the cheese cabinet.

Because the request accepts any two sandwiches, use whichever sandwich recipes you have already unlocked. The game’s progression teaches sprinting, crouching, magnifying and cooking as you advance, so do not assume a missed interaction means the quest is broken; you may simply need to use the newly taught movement or inspection action.
The mice called Them
Four mice share the collective name Them: Goob, Pird, Ashe and Conn. Their request is for three cheese dishes. Delivering those dishes rewards the heart key, which opens the bedroom.
Cheese dishes are not interchangeable with arbitrary snacks. Check that each item is a prepared cheese-based dish before delivering it, and keep one of every early recipe available until the mice’s request is complete.
Finding all 43 recipe cards and 16 scrapbook pages
The complete walkthrough is organized in scrapbook order and covers all 43 recipe cards, their dishes and all 16 scrapbook pages. The scrapbook is the best navigation framework because it follows the game’s teaching sequence: movement abilities and investigation tools appear as the player progresses, then new creatures, ingredients and cooking tasks build on those lessons.

These are the recipes and food items explicitly identified in the available walkthrough material; the walkthrough’s total is 43 cards, but a complete name-by-name index is not reproduced here. To avoid losing a card, use the scrapbook pages as a checklist and inspect every newly accessible room after each key, creature favor and puzzle reward.
A reliable collection routine
- Photograph each new creature as soon as the game teaches photography; the photograph commonly starts or advances its request.
- Record every card immediately in scrapbook order instead of relying on memory.
- Search containers and furniture after solving a puzzle, because rewards can combine a usable ingredient with a recipe card, as in the 9174 cabinet.
- Cook newly unlocked dishes before moving on. Prepared food is required for creature requests, and cooking confirms that the card was actually registered.
- Revisit rooms after learning sprinting, crouching or magnifying. A location that looked empty before a tool was introduced may contain the next collectible.
- Use the scrapbook total—16 pages and 43 cards—as your completion check. If the count is short, compare the last completed page with the next unexplored area rather than opening every door with a cheat.
Are any achievements missable?
No. The walkthrough states that no achievement is missable, provided you complete at least one playthrough. After the final sequence, the game lets you continue with your current progress, and there is no time limit. You can therefore finish remaining recipes, photographs, scrapbook pages and achievements before triggering the final cutscene.
The one practical exception is the cheat warning: cheats permanently disable achievements on the affected Steam save until you start a new game from the Main Menu. That is a save-state consequence, not a missable in-game objective.

Using cheats safely
- For an achievement run: never activate Alt + Caps Lock + ` on that save. Solve the cabinet, electrical box and creature quests normally.
- For exploration or screenshots: make a separate save or begin a separate playthrough, then use Alt + U, Alt + N, Alt + C and the other visual shortcuts as needed.
- For a stuck character: use the relevant movement or creature shortcut sparingly, because forcing an NPC or bypassing a door may leave you unsure which recipe or key you have legitimately collected.
- To restore achievements: turning cheats off is insufficient. Return to the Main Menu and start a new game.
