The boss rewards are therefore a chest, a head piece, and a sword. The Blackwing set has five armor pieces in total, so you must explore Hernand after the battle to find the remaining cloak, gloves, and boots. There is no fourth armor item hidden in the Crowcaller reward screen, and the three exploration pieces are not alternate choices. You need all three to finish the named set.

If your immediate goal is the weapon, the story victory is enough: you do not need to visit any of the three Hernand locations before the boss to receive the Tauria Curved Sword. If your goal is the complete appearance or armor collection, plan a second sweep after the fight rather than repeatedly defeating Crowcaller.
Reach Crowcaller through Toward the Nest
Crowcaller is not a free-roaming drop. The encounter is the final battle in the Chapter V story mission Toward the Nest. The mission follows Secret at the Church in the route recorded by LUDO.guide. Its major locations are the Spire of Soaring, Crescent Skybridge, and the final battleground.
The sequence matters because an apparently missing boss can simply mean that the preceding story objective is incomplete. The named locations also provide useful landmarks when a map marker or older video uses a different interface. You are moving from northern Demeniss to the tower, through its traversal and power puzzles, across the skybridge, and finally to the battleground where the reward event occurs.

- Start the story chain. Complete Secret at the Church, then begin Toward the Nest. The quest database describes the mission as a main-story chapter transition rather than a separate equipment hunt.
- Travel to the Spire of Soaring. The tower is in northern Demeniss. At the structure, look for the cave on the right side and use it to enter the tower basement. Approaching the visible tower entrance alone does not describe the route; the right-side cave is the entry point documented by the walkthrough.
- Work through the tower. Use the tower’s wind lifts to gain height. You will also encounter power-routing panels; solve those panels to restore the route upward. The exact control input can vary by platform or patch, so follow the on-screen interaction prompt rather than relying on a controller-specific instruction from an older video.
- Reach Crescent Skybridge. The tower route leads to the bridge area. The bridge is disabled until its light and cable mechanisms are repaired. If the crossing appears inactive, continue checking the nearby puzzle elements instead of searching for a separate route around it.
- Align the light orbs. Direct the light from the orbs onto the wall panels. The objective is not simply to interact with an orb; the light must be directed at the panels as described in the walkthrough.
- Repair the two cables. When the panels are illuminated, repair both broken cables shown in the bridge mechanism. Missing one cable leaves the activation step unavailable.
- Activate the bridge. Interact with the repaired mechanism to power the Crescent Skybridge, then cross it and continue toward the final battleground.
- Defeat Crowcaller. The encounter at the end of this sequence awards the two Blackwing pieces and the Tauria Curved Sword listed above.
LUDO.guide’s Toward the Nest walkthrough documents this progression. It is a community-verified route, so button names, prompts, or puzzle behavior may differ on another platform or after a later update. The location order remains the useful part of the route even when an interaction prompt is worded differently.
What to check immediately after the boss
Before leaving the final battleground, verify the reward outcome in the quest completion or inventory interface. Look specifically for Blackwing Leather Armor, Blackwing Mask, and Tauria Curved Sword. This avoids confusing the boss’s visual equipment with the names of the items actually added to your inventory.
The distinction is especially important for the weapon. Crowcaller is shown using two blades, but the reward is recorded as one Tauria Curved Sword. Seeing two weapons in the boss encounter is not evidence that two copies should appear in your rewards. If only one sword is listed, that matches the item guide’s recorded reward quantity.
Likewise, do not treat the absence of a cloak, gloves, or boots as a failed quest reward. Those pieces are deliberately placed elsewhere in Hernand. A complete inventory check after the fight should show three boss items, not all five armor pieces.
Find the three missing Blackwing pieces
Once the boss rewards are in your inventory, the rest of the set is an exploration sweep through Hernand. Each item is in a different secret or concealed chest; none is awarded by replaying the Crowcaller battle. The locations are complementary, so there is no acquisition decision to make between them.
Blackwing Leather Cloak — Pororin farm
- Region: southeastern Hernand.
- Landmark: Pororin, at the western edge of the farm.
- Exact hiding place: a chest in a small shed behind a hut.
- How to open the route: break through the boards blocking the shed, then loot the chest.
The farm’s west edge is easy to misread as the hut itself. Circle behind the hut and look for the separate little shed; the breakable boards are the obstruction hiding the chest. If you have reached Pororin but cannot see a chest in the main building, you are in the right general area but the wrong structure.
This is the simplest of the three pickups because it requires no special ability sequence beyond breaking the boards. Mark the farm’s western edge rather than the center of Pororin, and inspect the rear side of the hut before moving on.
Blackwing Leather Gloves — Sanctum of Penitence
- Region: Hernand.
- Landmark: Sanctum of Penitence.
- Exact hiding place: a secret room below the main floor.
- How to enter: break through the floor to drop into the room, then search the interior for the gloves.
If the Sanctum appears to contain only ordinary rooms, inspect the floor rather than searching for an exterior entrance. The gloves are reached by destroying the concealed floor section. The important clue is vertical: the destination is beneath the building, not in a visible upper-level chamber.
Search methodically across the interior floor. If you only circle the outside walls or look for a locked door, you can pass the secret room without finding its entry point. Once the floor gives way, enter the room and collect the gloves before leaving the Sanctum.
Blackwing Leather Boots — St. Halssius’s House of Healing
- Region: eastern Hernand.
- Landmark: St. Halssius’s House of Healing.
- Exact hiding place: a secret room beneath the steeple.
- How to open the route: climb to the top of the steeple, crouch on the tile inside, and use Force Palm to trigger the trapdoor.
The interaction is conditional: standing on the correct tile and crouching are both part of the trigger. If Force Palm does nothing, reposition on the steeple’s interior tile, crouch again, and use the ability while centered on it. Using Force Palm elsewhere in the building is not the documented solution.
Approach this location as a small sequence rather than a single button prompt: reach the House of Healing, climb the steeple, identify the interior tile, crouch on it, and then activate Force Palm. The trapdoor leads to the secret room containing the boots.

The five listed pieces form the complete Blackwing armor set described by VULKK. The set is wearable by Kliff, and the guide reports that all five pieces can be upgraded. It characterizes the leather equipment as having moderate defense, with lightning-resistance properties on some pieces. Those stat descriptions come from a guide updated June 18, 2026; treat them as that guide’s dated values, not guaranteed post-patch numbers.
Because the available information describes the pieces as moderate-defense leather gear rather than giving a universal endgame ranking, the useful comparison is practical: collect the set if you want its complete five-piece identity, upgradeable armor, and reported lightning resistance on applicable pieces. If you are choosing between exploration and immediate story progression, the sword and two armor pieces arrive from the boss, while the remaining benefits require the Hernand detour.
Tauria Curved Sword: name, attack range, and sockets
The weapon’s exact name is Tauria Curved Sword. It is not called the Crowcaller Sword or the Blackwing Sword in the item information. VULKK’s item listing records an attack value from 12 to 34 across upgrade levels.

The three listed Abyss Gear entries are Crow’s Pursuit, Destruction I, and Swift I. They are recorded as included gear in the item guide, while the weapon itself has three Abyss Gear sockets. The guide does not establish a broader damage ranking against every other sword, so use the in-game comparison screen for your current loadout rather than assuming this reward is universally best.
Crowcaller is shown wielding two blades, but the reward information specifies one Tauria Curved Sword. Do not assume that receiving one item automatically unlocks a second copy or proves anything about every possible dual-wield setup.
The attack range and included Abyss Gear are item-guide data dated June 2026. If your current build displays different values, use the in-game item screen as the authoritative value for your patch and upgrade state. A later upgrade level, equipment change, or patch can make the displayed number differ from the dated listing without changing the acquisition route.
A practical collection order
The most efficient route depends on whether you are already at the story mission or are cleaning up the map after the boss. The items do not form competing reward choices; they are complementary parts of one set and one weapon acquisition.
If you have not started Toward the Nest
- Finish Secret at the Church so the Chapter V mission becomes available.
- Complete the Spire of Soaring and Crescent Skybridge objectives in order.
- Defeat Crowcaller and confirm that the chest armor, mask, and sword appear in your rewards or inventory.
- Travel to Pororin farm, the Sanctum of Penitence, and St. Halssius’s House of Healing to collect the three remaining armor pieces.
This order keeps the story-gated items together and prevents an unnecessary return to the final battleground. It also lets you confirm the exact item names before beginning the Hernand search.
If you already defeated Crowcaller
- Check your inventory for Blackwing Leather Armor, Blackwing Mask, and Tauria Curved Sword before revisiting the arena.
- Mark the three Hernand destinations on your map.
- Search the Pororin shed first if you want the least complicated pickup: break the boards behind the hut and open the chest.
- Go to the Sanctum of Penitence and inspect the floor for the break-through point.
- Finish at St. Halssius’s steeple, where the crouch-and-Force-Palm interaction opens the trapdoor.
The locations can also be visited in another order; there is no stated dependency between the cloak, gloves, and boots. The order above simply moves from the most direct chest to the two concealed-entry puzzles.

The boss died, but the set is incomplete
That is expected. Crowcaller awards only the chest armor, mask, and sword. The cloak, gloves, and boots are separate Hernand pickups, so replaying the boss is not the normal way to obtain them.
You cannot find the cloak chest
Check that you are at Pororin in southeastern Hernand and have gone to the farm’s western edge. The chest is not in the main hut; it is in the small shed behind it, concealed by breakable boards.
The Sanctum has no obvious secret room
Search the floor for the concealed break-through point. The gloves are below the building, not in a visible room on the upper level. An exterior-door search will not reveal the intended entrance.
Force Palm does not open the steeple trapdoor
Climb to the steeple’s top, move onto the tile inside, crouch, and then activate Force Palm. The ability must be used from the crouched position on that tile; using it elsewhere will not trigger the mechanism.

Toward the Nest is unavailable
Check the preceding story objective, Secret at the Church. The route documented for the mission places that quest before the Spire of Soaring sequence. The Crowcaller reward is tied to this story route, not to a free-roaming encounter marker.

The bridge will not activate
Confirm that the light from the orbs is directed onto the wall panels and that both broken cables have been repaired. The bridge activation occurs after those steps. If one cable remains unrepaired, the mechanism can appear incomplete even when the orb puzzle has been solved.
An older guide shows a different Crowcaller-related location
Separate the original gear route from rematch collectibles. Pearl Abyss’s official version 1.13.00 patch notes, dated July 3, 2026, say that locations of Memory Fragments for certain rematchable bosses changed and specifically include Draven, the Crowcaller. The notice does not announce a change to the original Toward the Nest reward trio or to the three Hernand locations listed here.
The quest database labels its entry version 2.0.0 and records an update on September 30, 2026, but it is fan-maintained rather than an official publisher record. If a future patch changes an item location, the in-game quest and inventory screens should take precedence over either dated guide. In particular, do not use a changed Memory Fragment location as proof that the original Blackwing or Tauria reward has moved.

Do you need the entire set to use the sword?
No combined acquisition requirement is recorded. The Tauria Curved Sword is awarded from the Crowcaller victory, while the cloak, gloves, and boots are separate armor pickups. You can therefore claim and equip the sword after the story battle without first collecting every Blackwing armor piece. Conversely, collecting the three Hernand pieces does not replace or unlock the sword; the boss reward remains the source of that weapon.
This separation is useful when planning a playthrough. Story-focused players can secure the weapon and two armor pieces first, then return for exploration. Completion-focused players should treat the boss reward and the three Hernand locations as six distinct checklist entries: three rewards from Crowcaller and three concealed armor pickups afterward.
