Short answer: Complete Riddle Square in the Spire of Clockwork, follow the fan-and-platform route to the Abyss Nexus, move the floating Abyss Core into the broken wire socket with Axiom Force, align the movable pin on each of the three upper rings with the fixed pins in the upper-left of the control view, then return to the central generator and activate it with Force Palm.
The route is more demanding than the mechanism itself because the entrance is a vertical traversal challenge. This walkthrough separates the approach from the socket repair, ring alignment and final activation, and notes where published guides use different control prompts.

What to complete before Origin of Thoughts
Origin of Thoughts is part of The Wanderer’s Way area in the Spire of Clockwork. You cannot simply walk into the puzzle chamber at the start of the route: Riddle Square is the required preceding challenge. Finish Riddle Square first, then use its southwest exit to begin the approach to Origin of Thoughts. Games.gg’s walkthrough, updated June 5, 2026, and Game8’s route guide, updated April 24, 2026, both place the puzzle in this order: Spire of Clockwork, Riddle Square, then Origin of Thoughts.

- Axiom Force for grabbing and repositioning the Abyss Core and interacting with the upper mechanism.
- Force Current or Aerial Force Palm if your control prompt uses one of those names for the final nudge into the socket.
- Force Palm for the final generator activation. VULKK describes that last input specifically as Aerial Force Palm.
Because the returned walkthroughs are third-party guides rather than an official control reference, the displayed prompt on your platform should take priority if the ability label differs.
Reaching the Abyss Nexus
The entrance route is a sequence of updrafts, vents and floating platforms. The exact camera angle can make the next platform look like a dead end, so use the fans as your navigation landmarks rather than trying to follow a straight line through the architecture.
- Leave Riddle Square from the southwest. With the square completed, move toward the southwest corner identified in the Games.gg route. The objective is to reach the first fan section, not to search for the puzzle mechanism inside Riddle Square again.
- Raise the first platforms. Games.gg describes rotating the device near Riddle Square to bring platforms into position. Use the newly raised surfaces to gain height; do not expect the route to be a single jump from the square to the Nexus.
- Climb and glide through the updrafts. Take the successive fans one at a time. When a platform appears offset from your current position, climb first and glide into the next updraft rather than dropping to the lower structures.
- Pass through the floating structure. The fan route continues through a suspended section of the Spire. Continue across its platforms until you reach another series of vents. This is the portion of the route most likely to look like optional scenery, but the fans are the intended path.
- Follow the later fan sections to the island. Continue using the updrafts until the route opens onto the island containing the Abyss Nexus. Game8 summarizes this approach as following the vents from Riddle Square to the teleporter; Games.gg gives the longer climb-and-glide sequence.
- Activate the Abyss Nexus. Interact with the Nexus when you arrive. This establishes the puzzle area and gives you the local starting point for the first ring platform.
If a screenshot-based guide is available while you play, compare landmarks rather than attempting to duplicate every jump. The published route descriptions agree on the fan progression, but only Games.gg supplies the longer platform-by-platform traversal context.

Origin of Thoughts puzzle solution
1. Reach the first ring platform
Stand at the Abyss Nexus and look for the vent leading upward. Game8 directs players to the vent on the left, while Games.gg describes the first fans as being west of the Nexus. These descriptions identify the same opening climb from different orientations. Ride that updraft to the first ring platform.
The first ring is a staging point, not the final control station. Use it to orient yourself toward the next fan and the floating structures beyond it. If you land on a platform with no obvious switch, check above and around its edge for the next vent before backtracking to the Nexus.
2. Locate the unpowered fan and the Abyss Core
Continue from the first ring through the fans toward the second ring area. You are looking for a floating, glowing Abyss Core near structures crossed by visible wires. The core is separate from the ring controls: do not try to rotate the rings until the fan route has been restored.
The unpowered section is identifiable because the next fan will not provide the lift needed to continue. The core is positioned close enough to the wire network that you can see the intended socket area from the surrounding platforms. Approach it from a stable surface so an accidental drop does not interrupt the grab.

3. Put the Abyss Core into the broken socket
Use Axiom Force to pick up the Abyss Core and carry it to the break in the wire or empty socket. The objective is correct when the core is seated in that gap and the nearby fan circuit is restored. Games.gg notes that green leaves around the socket indicate the correct placement area.
The final placement input is described differently in the available walkthroughs. Games.gg says to use Force Palm to push the core into the slot; Game8 mentions nudging it with Force Current or Aerial Force Palm; VULKK calls the object a power cell and likewise places it in the socket to activate the fans. Treat these as control-label variations, not different puzzle objectives:
- Hold the core with Axiom Force.
- Move it into the broken wire opening until the socket’s placement cue appears.
- Use the on-screen interaction or force prompt to make the final nudge.
- Release it only after the circuit reacts and the nearby fan becomes active.
If your character pushes the core past the opening, reposition it rather than trying to force it from a distance. The in-game prompt is the reliable authority for the exact button or ability name on your platform and patch.
4. Use the restored fans to reach the upper mechanism
Once the core is seated, return to the newly powered fan route. The updraft now carries you toward the upper or eastern ring platform. Follow the lift until you reach a platform with a yellow-lit control switch or mechanism.

This is the control that exposes the three-ring alignment view. It is not the central generator used at the end, so do not leave the platform looking for the reward after the first interaction.
5. Align the three rings
The upper mechanism shows three separate rings, each with a movable circular node or pillar. The fixed reference pins are grouped in the upper-left of the top-down control view. Your goal is to bring the movable pin on every ring into alignment with that fixed group.
Game8 explains that you switch between the three rings with the next/previous function and rotate the selected ring with the corresponding control. The guides do not establish a dependable button sequence or a fixed number of rotations. Ring orientation can also be read differently if the camera is rotated, so a memorized sequence is less useful than the visible pin positions.

Use this visual method:
- Identify the active ring. Confirm which ring is highlighted before rotating. The mechanism lets you cycle through the three rings; rotating while the wrong ring is selected changes a different layer.
- Find its movable pin. On the selected ring, locate the circular node or pillar that moves with the ring. Separate it from the fixed pins in the upper-left reference cluster.
- Rotate toward the reference. Turn the selected ring until its movable pin lines up with the fixed pins in the upper-left. Work from the shortest visible rotation rather than counting clicks.
- Switch to the next ring. Use the next/previous control shown on the interface, then repeat the same visual alignment for the second and third rings.
- Verify the whole stack. Before leaving the mechanism, check all three rings together. A ring that looked aligned while selected can appear offset when the full assembly is viewed.
There is no evidence in the published guides for a universal numeric rotation solution. If a guide or video presents a sequence for a particular camera angle, use it only as a visual reference; the fixed pins in your own control view are the actual target. The important state is all three movable pins aligned with the upper-left group, not the direction in which a ring was turned.

After all three rings are aligned, leave the control view and descend to the central generator in the restored structure. Approach the generator until the Force Palm interaction appears. Use Force Palm to activate it; VULKK specifies Aerial Force Palm for this final action.
The activation completes the Origin of Thoughts challenge. If the generator does not respond, return to the ring mechanism and inspect the upper-left reference area again. The final interaction becomes available only after the three-ring alignment has registered.

Game8 and VULKK report one Abyss Artifact for solving Origin of Thoughts. Game8 says the artifact can be used to unlock and upgrade skills, making the reward relevant beyond this single puzzle.
Games.gg additionally reports a Fast Travel Teleport in the area. That teleport is an extra reward noted by that walkthrough rather than a feature independently confirmed by all three sources, so treat its availability as version- or progression-dependent. The Abyss Artifact is the consistently reported completion reward.

The route ends at a platform with no way forward
Look for a fan above, below or behind the platform edge. The route repeatedly changes elevation, and the next vent is not always in front of the landing point. If you have not yet activated the Abyss Nexus, return to the island and complete that interaction before searching for the first ring route.
The next fan is still inactive
That section depends on the Abyss Core and its socket. Check the wire break rather than the fan housing: the core must be seated in the opening, and the socket’s placement cue should appear before you release it. If the prompt names a different force technique, use the prompt shown by your game instead of assuming the wording from another platform’s guide.

The core will not stay in place
Move closer to the socket and approach it from a level platform. Keep Axiom Force engaged until the object is inside the opening, then perform the final push indicated by the interface. Green leaves around the socket, as described by Games.gg, are a useful visual confirmation that you are targeting the correct location.
The ring view changes the wrong ring
Use the next/previous selector to confirm the highlighted ring before rotating. The mechanism contains three independent layers, so a successful rotation can still leave the puzzle unsolved if it was applied to the wrong layer. Recheck the movable pin against the fixed pins grouped in the upper-left after each switch.
The rings look close but the generator remains inactive
Do not rely on a ring being approximately aligned. Return to the control view and verify the movable pin on each of all three rings against the fixed reference group. The available walkthroughs do not provide a guaranteed rotation count, so the visual alignment state is the meaningful check.
The final Force Palm prompt is missing
Make sure you have exited the ring control and reached the central generator itself. The yellow-lit upper switch opens the alignment control; it is not the completion interaction. If the generator still has no prompt, inspect the three-ring view once more before attempting the descent again.
Control and version notes
The three guides agree on the puzzle’s structure: a fan ascent, an Abyss Core socket repair, three-ring alignment and central-generator activation. They differ in how they name the force used for the core’s last nudge and the final activation. Games.gg was updated June 5, 2026, Game8 April 24, 2026, and VULKK published its walkthrough April 13, 2026. None of the supplied sources is an official Pearl Abyss control reference or patch note, and they do not establish whether a later update changed button mappings or interaction timing.
For that reason, use the ability names in this guide as functional descriptions and follow the prompt rendered by your copy of Crimson Desert for the exact input. The puzzle’s visual conditions remain stable across the accounts: the core belongs in the broken wire socket, every movable ring pin belongs with the fixed upper-left pins, and the restored generator is finished with Force Palm.
