To open the sealed door in Crimson Desert’s Polar Opposites quest, use Axiom Force on the two stone dials beside the Axiom Archive entrance. Rotate both until the blue energy forms one uninterrupted path into the altar on the right, then enter and speak with Alustin. Do not pull the large block beside the left altar; walkthroughs report that interaction can leave the puzzle unable to complete.
Quick solution
- After reaching the Abyss, step onto the glowing platform to activate the Abyss Nexus fast-travel point.
- Follow the route toward the large Axiom Archive building. Approaching the entrance triggers the scene that grants Kliff Axiom Force.
- Stand at the front of the building and look to the ground on the entrance’s right. Two circular stone dials are set into the floor there.
- Activate Axiom Force, aim at a dial, attach the tether and rotate the dial. Repeat with the second dial while watching the blue channels.
- Stop when the energy runs continuously through both dials and reaches the altar at the right side of the doorway.
- When the altar lights, go inside and speak with Alustin. This completes the relevant part of Polar Opposites and moves the story toward Abyss Without Balance.
Reach the puzzle without missing the trigger
Activate the Abyss Nexus
The first glowing platform in the Abyss is not decorative. Step onto it so the Abyss Nexus fast-travel point becomes active. Doing this gives you a return point if you need to reload or leave the area while diagnosing the mechanism. It also provides a clear starting landmark: if you become disoriented, return to the platform and follow the main route toward the archive rather than circling the outer area.

Approach the Axiom Archive
Follow the visible path toward the large building. Axiom Force is granted by the approach sequence; it is not an item you need to find in a chest or equip from a separate inventory screen. If the ability prompt has not appeared, continue toward the entrance until the scene has finished. Do not start experimenting with unrelated objects while waiting for the ability. The building approach is the trigger, and the puzzle is intended to be solved after that sequence has completed.

Face the entrance, then scan the ground immediately to its right. The controls are low, circular stone mechanisms rather than upright statues. Their position makes them easy to overlook if you remain on the central approach or look only at the door itself. Both dials belong to the same circuit, so finding one is not the end of the search; check the nearby ground for the second circular mechanism before trying to activate anything.

What the Axiom Force circuit is doing
Each dial redirects the blue energy line running through the puzzle. The door is not opened by activating the two dials in a particular order or by entering a code. It opens when the route is continuous: energy must pass through both floor dials and finish at the altar on the right-hand side of the entrance.
Think of the blue channels as a visible wiring diagram. One segment feeds a dial, the dial turns that flow, and the next segment must meet the outlet of the other dial. The right altar is the destination and the clearest completion signal. A dial can be targetable and visibly moving without being in its useful position, so interaction feedback alone is not proof that the puzzle is solved.
Use the glowing line as the authority for every adjustment. A dial can look correctly oriented from one camera angle while its outlet is still disconnected. Rotate it a small amount, then check whether the line leaving that dial joins the next segment. Continue until there are no visible breaks between the incoming channel, the first dial, the second dial and the altar. If a segment lights only partway, treat that as a clue about the next dial rather than as a completed step.
Detailed dial-alignment procedure
1. Target a dial with Axiom Force
Activate Axiom Force and aim at one of the circular mechanisms. When the game recognizes the target, attach the tether using the interaction prompt shown for your current control setup. Stand close enough for the mechanism to be selected, but keep the reticle on the stone dial itself rather than the surrounding floor. If the prompt does not appear, adjust your position a little and aim at the center of the circle.
2. Rotate while watching the channel
With the tether attached, move around the dial or use the displayed rotation input to turn it. One walkthrough describes holding Tab on a keyboard or L3 on a controller to aim and attach before using the listed prompts; those inputs are not guaranteed if you have changed bindings or are playing on another platform. Use the command shown by your own HUD as the final authority.
Do not count turns from a guide as if they were fixed instructions. Camera orientation changes what clockwise means on screen, and the same action can feel different with inverted or customized controls. The reliable test is visual: rotate until the blue segment leaving the dial lines up with the next channel. Make one modest adjustment, release or pause, and inspect the connection before making another. This prevents a large correction from carrying the dial past its useful alignment.
3. Align the second dial
Release the first dial once its connection is clear, then target the other mechanism. Make the same incremental adjustments. If moving the second dial breaks a connection made by the first, return to the first and fine-tune both until the entire route is unbroken. The two components are linked, so a correct-looking first dial can still need a small revision after the second is positioned.

4. Confirm the altar state
The right-hand altar is the completion indicator. A lit altar means the circuit has reached its destination and the entrance should respond. If the channels appear nearly aligned but the altar remains dark, at least one segment is still disconnected; reposition the dial whose outgoing line has the visible gap instead of repeatedly interacting with the door.
Check the whole route from its starting channel to the altar, not just the connection immediately beside the dial you most recently touched. The useful state is a single continuous blue path through both dials. Once the altar activates, stop rotating and move to the doorway so the opening sequence can complete.
Do not pull the block by the left altar
A large movable block sits near the altar on the left. Dexerto and Games.gg walkthroughs warn against pulling it during this puzzle. Their reports say that removing the block can cut power and leave the door unable to open even after the block is returned. This is a walkthrough-reported softlock hazard, not a behavior confirmed by an official developer bug notice or patch note.
Leave that block untouched and work only with the two circular dials on the right side. The block is especially dangerous because it looks like an obvious environmental interaction in a room built around manipulating objects. It is not part of the alignment route described for opening this entrance. If you already moved it and the circuit no longer responds, reload the latest autosave. The safest recovery is the save from before the interaction, then return to the entrance and solve the circuit without touching the block.
If the door still will not open
The Axiom Force scene did not trigger
Back away from the building and approach the entrance again. The ability is awarded during the approach sequence, so verify that the scene has completed and that Axiom Force is available before trying to manipulate the dials. If you arrived by an unusual route, return to the main approach and walk toward the building normally. A dial that cannot be tethered may simply indicate that the ability sequence has not finished.
You cannot attach to a dial
Stand close enough for the target prompt to appear, aim at the center of the circular stone rather than the surrounding floor and activate Axiom Force. Check the binding shown in your prompt; a keyboard, controller and remapped layout may use different inputs. If another object is highlighted, move the reticle until the dial itself is selected. Repositioning your character can also give you a clearer angle on the interaction point.
The blue line stops between components
Inspect the circuit from the first channel to the altar and identify the exact break. Rotate the dial feeding that break, then recheck the connection from the opposite camera angle. A line that seems continuous while viewed from the side can still be offset at its endpoint. Follow the energy in order rather than turning both dials randomly: locate the first gap, adjust the component immediately before it, and then inspect the route again.
The altar stays dark after both dials move
Trace the full route again rather than assuming that each dial only needs to glow. The required state is one continuous blue path through both dials and into the right altar. Also confirm that you have not interacted with the nearby left-side block. If the puzzle stopped responding after that interaction, reload the latest autosave as recommended by the walkthroughs.

The entrance remains closed after the altar lights
Wait for the activation to finish, then approach the doorway. If it remains closed despite a lit altar, move away and return to refresh the interaction state. A reload from before any risky block interaction is the appropriate fallback when the mechanism does not react. Do not reset the aligned dials immediately; first confirm that the altar is genuinely lit and that the opening sequence has had time to begin.

| Action | What to do | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Activate Axiom Force | Use the ability command shown on your HUD. | No single universal key or button is established. |
| Aim and attach | Target a dial and use the attach prompt. | One guide cites holding Tab on keyboard or L3 on controller; remapping and platform can change this. |
| Rotate a dial | Use the listed movement or rotation prompt while tethered. | Follow the visible energy route, not a fixed clockwise recipe. |
| Verify completion | Check that the right altar is lit and the entrance responds. | A dial being targetable does not prove that the circuit is complete. |
Because the puzzle is visual, changing the camera is often more useful than forcing a remembered input sequence. View each dial from the direction of the incoming and outgoing channels, make one adjustment, and then inspect the whole route before making another. If your camera makes the lines overlap, step to one side until the gap or connection is easy to see.
Common mistakes and their fixes
- Looking for a switch on the door: The interaction is on the two floor dials, not a conventional lock or keypad.
- Searching for Axiom Force elsewhere: The ability is acquired when you approach the Axiom Archive during this quest.
- Working on the wrong side: The relevant dials are to the right of the entrance when you face the building.
- Using a memorized turn count: Camera position and control settings make turn-by-turn recipes unreliable. Match the blue channels instead.
- Pulling the nearby block: Leave the large block beside the left altar alone because walkthroughs report that it can interrupt the puzzle.
- Entering before checking the altar: The lit right altar is the useful confirmation that the route has reached its destination.
- Adjusting both dials at once: Work on one tethered mechanism at a time so you can identify which movement changes the visible break.
- Assuming a partial glow is enough: Trace the line all the way to the altar; the destination must light before the door opens.
What to do after the door opens
Walk through the newly opened entrance and locate Alustin inside. Speak with him to finish this section of Polar Opposites. The conversation advances the quest line toward Abyss Without Balance; there is no additional dial sequence required at the doorway once the altar has activated. If you are planning the next objective, enter the building and complete the conversation rather than leaving after seeing the door move.
Quest and platform context
Crimson Desert launched on March 19, 2026 (UTC). Pearl Abyss lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam, Mac and Epic Games among the available platforms and presents Standard, Deluxe and Collector’s physical editions. The puzzle solution itself does not require a special controller, consumable or collectible; only the platform’s normal controls and the Axiom Force ability are used.

- The large block beside the left altar has not been pulled.
- You enter the building and speak with Alustin after activation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are the Polar Opposites door controls?
Face the Axiom Archive entrance and look on the ground to its right. The two controls are circular stone dials set into the floor.
How do I get Axiom Force for this puzzle?
Approach the large Axiom Archive building through the main route in the Abyss. The approach scene grants Axiom Force; it is not collected from a chest.
Do the dials have a fixed clockwise or counterclockwise solution?
Use the blue energy as your guide instead of counting turns. Camera orientation, platform and remapped controls can make a universal turn recipe unreliable.
What proves that the puzzle is solved?
The blue path must run continuously through both dials into the altar on the right. When that altar lights, the entrance should open.
Can I move the large block beside the left altar?
Avoid it. Dexerto and Games.gg report that pulling the block can cut power and leave the door unable to open, even after the block is replaced.
What should I do if I already pulled the block?
Reload the latest autosave, preferably one from before the interaction, then return and solve the circuit using only the two right-side dials.
Which button attaches Axiom Force to a dial?
Use the prompt shown on your HUD. One guide cites Tab on keyboard or L3 on controller, but bindings vary by platform and remapping.
