Sealed in Stone begins after you clear Karin Quarry during Stolen Quarry. Speak with Erich at the quarry, take the Crane Control Room Key he gives you, ride the nearby hand-cranked lift, and use the crane controls to line the claw up over the buried relic. Lower it until it latches automatically, then raise the crane to extract the relic. Return to Count Roberts afterward to start The Count’s Honor.

If the crane is difficult to see, adjust the camera before moving the mechanism: the important alignment is the claw directly above the relic, not simply the crane’s position relative to the room.

What Sealed in Stone requires

Sealed in Stone is a short continuation of the House Roberts quest chain at Karin Quarry. It does not appear as a completely independent activity at the start of the game. You must first complete Stolen Quarry by clearing the enemies in Karin Quarry. Once the quarry is cleared, return to the site and find Erich. Speaking with him unlocks Sealed in Stone.

  • Prerequisite: Complete Stolen Quarry and defeat the enemies at Karin Quarry.
  • Quest giver: Erich, at Karin Quarry.
  • Key item: Crane Control Room Key.
  • Main objective: Use the quarry crane to retrieve the buried relic.
  • Next quest: Return to Count Roberts for The Count’s Honor.

If Erich is not offering the quest, check that every enemy in the quarry has been defeated and that Stolen Quarry is complete. Leaving the area and returning after the clear can also make the follow-up conversation easier to find.

How to reach the crane controls

1. Talk to Erich

After the quarry fight, speak with Erich in Karin Quarry. The conversation starts Sealed in Stone and gives you the Crane Control Room Key. You do not need to locate the control room first; the key is supplied as part of the quest conversation.

2. Take the hand-cranked lift

Use the nearby hand-cranked lift to reach the upper section of the quarry. The lift is the intended route to the crane controls, so search around the quarry floor if you initially try to climb the surrounding rock or find another entrance.

3. Unlock the control room

At the upper level, use the key on the control-room door. Enter and approach the crane controls to begin the extraction puzzle. The quest does not require a separate tool or a second key.

Crane puzzle solution

The mechanism has one essential condition: the crane’s claw must be positioned above the buried relic before you lower it. Lowering from the wrong angle will not complete the extraction. The exact button prompts can vary by platform and control scheme; use the actions shown on your screen rather than relying on a universal button label.

1. Find the relic before moving the crane

Use the camera to identify the buried relic in the quarry chamber. It can be hard to see when the camera is tight behind the crane or pointed at the machinery. Pull the view back, rotate around the room, and look for the relic’s position on the floor or in the excavation area. Establish a visual reference point before operating the controls.

2. Move the crane over the relic

Operate the crane horizontally until the claw is centered over the relic. Think in terms of the claw’s end point, not the crane arm or the control-room window. A large arm can appear aligned while the claw is still offset from the object below.

3. Lower the claw

With the claw above the relic, use the lowering control. Continue until the mechanism reaches the object. When the alignment is correct, the claw latches onto the relic automatically; there is no separate manual grab timing described for this sequence.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Raise the crane

Once the claw has caught the relic, use the raising control to pull it out of the ground. Wait for the extraction animation or the objective update before leaving the controls. Raising the crane before it has latched will not retrieve the relic, so lower it again if the mechanism comes back empty.

What to do if you cannot see the relic

Visibility is the most common source of confusion in this objective. The crane room can place the camera behind the arm, and the relic may blend into the quarry floor. Use a deliberate camera setup instead of moving the crane blindly.

Improve the camera angle

  • Rotate the camera to view the chamber from the side rather than directly behind the control console.
  • Pull the camera back as far as the current view allows before making a horizontal adjustment.
  • Use fixed landmarks such as the excavation edge, rock wall, or floor seams to judge the claw’s position.
  • Make small horizontal movements, then pause and check the claw’s position from a second angle.

Confirm alignment without a clear view

If the relic is obscured, lower the claw only after you have matched its position to the location where the relic is buried. The automatic latch is the confirmation: a successful alignment causes the mechanism to catch the object as it reaches it. If no latch occurs, raise the claw, reposition horizontally, and try again. Do not assume that a failed grab means the quest is broken.

  • Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game set in the beautiful yet brutal continent of Pywel. Take on the role of the Greymane Kliff and embark on a journey across the continent to reclaim everything youve lost. Explore uncharted lands, encounter mysterious factions, and experience firsthand a world that is as breathtaking as it is merciless.

Check the on-screen prompts

The available crane actions and button assignments are presented in the game’s current control layout. The consulted walkthroughs do not establish one button mapping that applies to every platform, control preset, or input device. Players using a remapped controller, keyboard, or alternate preset should follow the displayed prompts and identify which action corresponds to horizontal movement, lowering, and raising.

After the relic is extracted

When the relic comes free, leave the crane room and return to Count Roberts. This conversation advances the House Roberts chain and leads into The Count’s Honor. Sealed in Stone is therefore a transition quest: its key purpose is opening the next part of the chain rather than awarding a separate bundle of loot.

Do not combine the quest rewards

Sealed in Stone itself is reported as having no direct reward. Rewards shown for The Count’s Honor belong to that follow-up quest, not to the crane extraction. A separate quest database may describe rewards for the broader chain, but those chain-level rewards should not be assigned to Sealed in Stone alone.

The underground passage and the Palmar Pill claim

One quest-data listing says that extracting the relic opens a hidden underground passage. That passage is worth checking after the crane animation and objective update, especially if the game marks a new route nearby. The same listing claims that a Palmar Pill is inside.

The Palmar Pill claim is not corroborated by the other walkthrough consulted for this quest. Treat the item as unverified rather than a guaranteed Sealed in Stone reward. If you do not find it, you have not necessarily missed a required step, and the quest can still continue through Count Roberts.

Common problems and fixes

Erich does not start Sealed in Stone

Verify that Stolen Quarry is fully complete, not merely that you have entered or explored Karin Quarry. The follow-up becomes available after the quarry enemies are defeated. Return to the quarry and speak with Erich again once the clear is complete.

The control-room door will not open

Make sure you received the Crane Control Room Key from Erich during the quest conversation. The intended route uses the nearby hand-cranked lift to the upper area, then the locked control-room entrance. If you reached the upper level before speaking with Erich, go back and complete that conversation.

The claw lowers but does not grab anything

The claw is not centered over the relic. Raise it, move the crane horizontally, and lower it again. Use the automatic latch as your success signal. A near miss can look aligned from one camera angle, so check from a side view before the next attempt.

The crane moves, but the objective does not update

Wait for the claw to latch and finish the extraction animation. Raising an empty claw or moving away before the interaction completes will not satisfy the objective. If the relic has been visibly pulled free but the quest marker remains, return to the control position and allow the sequence to finish before leaving.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You cannot find the passage after extraction

The hidden route is described in one game-data listing, not consistently in every walkthrough. Confirm that the relic extraction completed and then inspect the nearby excavation area for an opened route or objective marker. The passage is not needed to assign the unverified Palmar Pill claim as a guaranteed reward.

What is known about platforms and versions

The walkthrough information does not specify a particular game build or provide a universal platform-specific control map. The quest sequence—Erich, the key, the hand-cranked lift, alignment, automatic latch, extraction, and Count Roberts—is therefore safer to follow by objective and on-screen prompt than by memorizing controller buttons. Physical PlayStation 5 editions are confirmed to exist, but availability varies by region and is unrelated to unlocking the quest for players who already own the game.
