Crimson Desert Tomb of Perdition Abyss Puzzle: Complete Block-and-Cube Solution

By VGSources Team 11 min read

The Tomb of Perdition Abyss puzzle is solved by moving the power blocks in a strict order. Leave the rotating cube alone at first, remove both long blocks from the accessible right-hand room, rotate the structure to reach the left room, install one long block there, and take the flat block outside. Rotate back, place the flat block in the right-room wall socket, move the remaining long block over the cube to the far-side floor socket, then activate the mechanism to claim the Abyss Artifact.

The sequence matters because rotating the structure before clearing the right room can leave the long blocks on the wrong side of the transfer route. The guide below covers the approach from Passage of Malice, the central mechanism, the optional chest routes, uncertain chest rewards, equipment advice, and fixes for the most common mistakes.

  1. Spire of Frost
  2. Passage of Malice
  3. Tomb of Perdition
  4. Desert Fragment
  5. Cradle of Truth

Follow the Passage of Malice route and its skybridge to reach the tomb. You do not need a separate puzzle item or a special control scheme to start the central challenge. The important abilities are Axiom Force, which lets you manipulate the power blocks, and the control positioned in front of the central cube or prism, which rotates the structure.

Heat-resistant gear can make hotter sections of the wider chain more comfortable, but the available walkthrough guidance treats it as optional rather than a requirement for Tomb of Perdition itself. Do not delay the puzzle because you lack a particular heat-resistant set.

What you must accomplish

The room is built around a rotating central structure with two sides that expose different chambers. The right-hand chamber is accessible when you arrive; the left-hand chamber becomes available after you rotate the cube. Power blocks have different shapes and destinations:

  • Two long power blocks: both begin in the right-hand room. One eventually remains in the left-room socket, while the other crosses over the central structure to a floor socket on the far side.
  • One flat power block: take it from the left room and return it to the right room, where it belongs in a wall socket.
  • Powered mechanism: once the sockets contain the correct blocks, activate the mechanism and collect the Abyss Artifact.

Think of the puzzle as a transfer problem rather than a sequence of random rotations. First empty the starting room, then use the rotation to reach the opposite room, then restore the structure so each block can be delivered to its final socket.

Exact Tomb of Perdition puzzle solution

1. Do not rotate the cube when you first arrive

Approach the rotating structure and leave the rotation control untouched. The right-hand room is already open. Enter it before changing the structure’s orientation.

This is the setup step that prevents the most common failure. If you rotate immediately, the blocks you need may be left behind the closed side, forcing a more awkward transfer sequence. The intended route starts by clearing the accessible room completely.

2. Remove both long blocks from the right-hand room

Use Axiom Force to pick up each of the two long power blocks. Carry them out of the right-hand room and place them where they are easy to retrieve near the central structure. The goal at this stage is simply to have both long blocks outside before you rotate anything.

Do not install either long block into a socket yet. You are staging them for the next two moves: one will go into the left room, and the other will eventually travel over the cube to the opposite floor socket.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. Rotate the structure to open the left side

Stand at the control in front of the central cube or prism and activate it to rotate the structure. The left-hand room should now be accessible. The guide descriptions identify the control by its position, not by a universal button prompt, so use the interaction shown by your own platform’s control layout rather than relying on a guessed key or button.

Once the left room is open, bring one of the long blocks inside.

4. Install one long block in the left-room socket

Use Axiom Force to place one long power block into the socket inside the left room. Check that it is seated before you leave. This block is staying on the left side; it is not the one you will carry back through the central area.

With that long block installed, look for the flat power block in the same left room. The flat block is the piece needed for the right-room wall socket, so pick it up with Axiom Force and carry it outside.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Rotate back to reopen the right-hand room

Return to the rotation control and turn the central structure back to its original orientation. The right-hand room should reopen. You now have the flat block outside, one long block fixed in the left room, and the other long block still staged near the central structure.

If the room does not appear to match the starting orientation, check that you used the same rotation control and completed the interaction. The next placement only works when the right-hand chamber is accessible again.

6. Put the flat block in the right-room wall socket

Carry the flat power block into the reopened right-hand room. Use Axiom Force to insert it into the wall socket. This is the only destination for the flat block in the main solution; it does not replace either long block.

Confirm that the block is fully engaged in the wall socket before moving on. Leaving it loose can make the final mechanism appear incomplete even when the other block is correctly positioned.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

7. Move the remaining long block over the cube

Take the long block that is still outside. Move it over the central structure to the opposite side, following the route around the cube rather than trying to force it through a closed room. The required destination is the floor socket on the far side of the structure.

Use Axiom Force for the lift and placement, and keep the block aligned with the floor socket as you approach. The first long block is already in the left-room socket; this second long block is the one that completes the external transfer.

8. Activate the mechanism and collect the artifact

With the left-room long block, right-room flat block, and far-side floor long block in place, activate the now-powered mechanism. The puzzle completes when the mechanism responds and the Abyss Artifact becomes available to collect.

If the activation prompt does not appear, inspect all three positions rather than rotating the structure again. A block that is touching a socket but not fully inserted is the usual thing to check first.

Block placement at a glance

Piece Where it starts What to do with it Final destination
Long power block 1 Right-hand room Carry it into the opened left room Socket inside the left room
Flat power block Left-hand room, after rotation Take it outside, rotate back, and carry it into the right room Wall socket in the right-hand room
Long power block 2 Right-hand room Remove it before the first rotation, then move it around the central cube Floor socket on the far side

The table also explains why removing both long blocks first is essential: one long block must enter the left room, while the other must remain available for the final far-side floor socket.

Why the order works

The rotating cube controls access, not the final power routing by itself. At the beginning, the right room is the only chamber you can enter, so both long blocks must be extracted while that route is open. Rotating then exposes the left room, where one long block can be locked into place and the flat block can be retrieved.

Rotating back is not a reset. It restores access to the right room so the flat block can reach its wall socket. Meanwhile, the second long block never needs to return to either room: it travels around the outside of the central structure to the opposite floor socket. Once all three destinations are occupied, the mechanism has the complete power path it needs.

Common mistakes and how to recover

Rotating before removing both long blocks

This is the main point of failure identified by the walkthroughs. If you rotate too early, one or both long blocks can remain in the right room while the left side opens, making the intended transfer harder.

Recovery depends on the current orientation. Use the rotation control to reopen the right-hand side, remove every remaining long block with Axiom Force, and then resume the normal sequence: one long block to the left-room socket, flat block out and back, and the other long block to the far-side floor socket. Do not try to improvise a final placement with the wrong-shaped piece.

Taking the wrong block into the left room

The left-room socket takes a long block. The flat block is the piece you retrieve from that room and later install in the right-room wall socket. If you have carried the flat block into the left room from outside, return it to the room where you found it and identify the long block before placing anything.

Trying to put the second long block in a room socket

Only one long block is installed inside the left room. The remaining long block belongs on the floor socket on the far side of the central structure. If you keep attempting to fit it into an occupied or incompatible room socket, take it back outside and route it around the cube.

Rotating the structure repeatedly

Extra rotations can make it difficult to remember which block is assigned to which side. Once you have placed the first long block in the left room and removed the flat block, rotate back only once to reopen the right room. The main route needs the initial orientation, one turn to the left side, and one return turn.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The mechanism will not activate

Check the three final conditions in order:

  • The left-room socket contains a long power block.
  • The right-room wall socket contains the flat power block.
  • The far-side floor socket contains the other long power block.

Use Axiom Force to reseat any block that is hovering, angled, or only partly inside its socket. If all three are secure, stand near the powered mechanism and use its interaction prompt; the final step is an activation, not another cube rotation.

You cannot find the rotation control

The control is positioned in front of the central cube or prism. Search the approach side of the structure rather than the interiors of the rooms. The walkthrough guidance does not establish a single button mapping across platforms, so look for the interaction indicator presented by your own game settings.

Optional treasure chest routes

The main puzzle and the optional chest are separate objectives. You can complete the block sequence and claim the Abyss Artifact without treating the chest as a required step.

Chest above the rotating structure

One walkthrough reports an optional chest above the rotating structure. Its reported contents are a Faded Abyss Artifact and Surge III Abyss Gear. The description places the chest near or above the prism, so inspect the upper surfaces and elevated route around the mechanism after you have safe access.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Laser-button route below the platforms

A separate walkthrough describes another hidden-chest approach before the main puzzle. Drop below the path platforms, board the moving platform, and wait for it to travel outward. From there, use Focused Shot to mark or hit all three buttons at once. The buttons disable the lasers and open the route to that chest.

That guide reports a Faded Abyss Artifact and Frostward II as the rewards. Because the two walkthroughs list different gear rewards, treat the gear name as route-specific or otherwise unconfirmed rather than assuming every player receives both items. The shared Faded Abyss Artifact report does not eliminate the discrepancy over the additional gear.

How to approach the optional chest safely

  1. Finish orienting yourself around the central structure before jumping toward an upper or lower route.
  2. For the lower route, deliberately drop below the path platforms and board the moving platform instead of trying to cross the laser field directly.
  3. Wait until the platform moves outward and gives you a clear view of the three buttons.
  4. Use Focused Shot to target all three buttons in one sequence so the lasers shut down.
  5. Collect the chest, then return to the main structure and follow the block solution if the Abyss Artifact mechanism is still inactive.

The upper-chest route and the lower laser route are reported separately, and the available descriptions do not establish that they are the same chest reached by two entrances. Explore them as distinct optional opportunities rather than counting on one route to produce the other route’s listed gear.

Abilities, controls, and equipment

Axiom Force

Axiom Force is the required manipulation ability for every power-block transfer in the central solution. Use it to remove both long blocks, place one in the left-room socket, extract the flat block, install the flat block in the right-room wall socket, and set the remaining long block on the far-side floor socket.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Rotation control

The cube rotates through the dedicated control in front of the central structure. The available guidance identifies the control by location, not by a confirmed universal key or controller button. Platform-specific prompts can therefore differ, and you should follow the prompt shown in your installation rather than a fixed button claim.

Focused Shot

Focused Shot is relevant to the optional lower chest route, where it is used to hit or mark all three laser-control buttons at once. It is not part of the central power-block sequence.

Heat-resistant gear

Heat-resistant equipment is useful comfort advice for hotter portions of the surrounding Abyss chain, but it is not established as a Tomb of Perdition entry requirement. Bring it if you already have it; do not treat its absence as a reason to abandon the puzzle.

Fast checklist before you leave

  • You reached Tomb of Perdition by following the Passage of Malice route and skybridge.
  • You left the rotation control alone when you first arrived.
  • Both long blocks were removed from the right-hand room before the first rotation.
  • One long block is seated in the left-room socket.
  • The flat block came out of the left room and is seated in the right-room wall socket after the return rotation.
  • The remaining long block is on the far-side floor socket, not in a room.
  • The powered mechanism has been activated.
  • The Abyss Artifact has been collected.
  • Any optional chest reward is recorded with its route, since reported gear rewards differ.

What to remember

The puzzle’s logic is fixed: empty the right room, rotate to the left room, place one long block and remove the flat block, rotate back, place the flat block in the right wall socket, and send the last long block over the cube to the far-side floor socket. Activation then awards the Abyss Artifact. The optional chest can be pursued separately, and its additional gear reward should not be treated as universal because the documented routes disagree.
