Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutecrliui.dll errors usually appear when Corel software cannot load its Corel User Interface component. You may see “This application failed to start because CrlIUI.dll was not found,” “The file CrlIUI.dll is missing or corrupted,” or “Error loading CrlIUI.dll.”
This is a Corel application file, not a Windows system DLL. The safest fix is to repair or reinstall the Corel product that owns it, rather than downloading a replacement DLL and copying it into a Windows folder.
Which fix applies to you
Use the first matching description:
- CorelDRAW or another Corel graphics application stopped launching after an update, cleanup, or crash: use Corel’s Repair option first.
- The Corel program no longer appears in Control Panel: reinstall it from your official Corel account or original installer.
- The file exists but Windows reports that it is corrupted or “not designed to run on Windows”: suspect a mismatched or damaged Corel installation.
- The problem started after antivirus activity: check Windows Security protection history and confirm whether the file was quarantined.
- The error names
MSVCP*.dll,VCRUNTIME*.dll, ormfc*.dllinstead: repair the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime named in the message. - The application is an older 32-bit Corel program running on 64-bit Windows: install the x86 dependency where required. Do not assume an x64 runtime is suitable.
- Corel launches, but crashes after startup: reset its workspace with the F8 startup procedure before reinstalling.
- Several unrelated Windows applications also fail: investigate Windows component corruption with DISM and SFC.
What crliui.dll is and where it belongs
crliui.dll, also written as CrlIUI.dll, is identified as Corel User Interface. It is associated with the Corel Common Framework and Corel graphics applications from Corel Corporation.
It is not normally installed by Windows, and it should not normally be placed in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. The correct copy belongs inside the Corel product’s own installation directory, beside the application components that were built to use it.

The exact path depends on the product generation. Older 32-bit Corel installations may use a Programs directory. Newer CorelDRAW installations can use Programs64. That means there is no single universal crliui.dll file that is safe for every Corel release.
A historical 32-bit Corel Graphics installation used a path similar to:
C:Program FilesCorelCorel Graphics 12Programs
Later CorelDRAW builds have used paths similar to:
C:Program FilesCorelCorelDRAW Graphics Suite [version]Programs64
Do not treat those examples as installation instructions. Use the path created by your own Corel installer.
Fix 1: Repair the Corel installation
This is the most likely solution because Repair restores the matching application files, shortcuts, registry entries, and other components as a set.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Before you start
- Close CorelDRAW and every other Corel application.
- Save any work in other programs.
- Temporarily note the exact wording of the error.
- Check whether the Corel application still appears in the installed-programs list.
Run Repair from Control Panel
- Press
Windowsand type Control Panel. - Open Control Panel.
- Select Uninstall a program under Programs.
- Find the installed CorelDRAW or Corel graphics suite.
- Double-click the Corel entry.
- Select Repair.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Restart Windows when the wizard finishes.
- Launch the same Corel application that produced the error.
A successful repair normally lets Corel start without the missing-DLL message. It may also restore missing shortcuts or correct damaged installation records.
If Repair is unavailable, fails immediately, or stops because the original installation source cannot be found, use the official Corel installer associated with your license. Choose the same product family and edition rather than installing an unrelated Corel application.
If Corel opens but behaves strangely
A damaged workspace can cause startup failures that look like a file problem.
- Close Corel completely.
- Hold the
F8key. - While holding it, start the Corel application.
- Confirm the prompt to reset the workspace if one appears.
- Release
F8after the reset prompt appears.
This resets user-interface settings. It does not replace crliui.dll, so return to the installer Repair option if the missing-file message remains.
Fix 2: Reinstall the exact Corel product
Use a complete reinstall when Repair cannot restore the file or the Corel entry has disappeared from Control Panel.

Identify what you need before uninstalling
Write down:
- The exact Corel product name.
- The edition or suite name.
- Whether it is a 32-bit or 64-bit application, if shown.
- The account or license used to install it.
- Any custom plug-ins or templates that must be backed up.
Do not uninstall first if you cannot access the installer or confirm that you can reinstall the product.
Reinstall Corel
- Open Control Panel → Uninstall a program.
- Select the affected Corel product.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
- Sign in to your official Corel account or use the original Corel installation media.
- Download or run the installer for the same product and edition.
- Complete the installation with the normal components selected.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch Corel and test the operation that previously failed.
A reinstall is preferable to copying an individual DLL because it restores the complete group of files and dependencies built for that release. Mixing an older crliui.dll with a newer Corel executable can produce a different error, an immediate crash, or an architecture mismatch.
Fix 3: Check the actual file path and architecture
If the error appears even though a file with the same name exists, the file may be in the wrong directory or belong to another Corel generation.
Locate the Corel executable
- Open the Start menu.
- Search for the affected Corel application.
- Right-click it and select Open file location.
- Right-click the shortcut that appears and choose Open file location again if necessary.
- Inspect the application directory for
CrlIUI.dll.
The DLL should be inside the Corel installation tree, commonly under a directory named Programs or Programs64. A copy in Downloads, a temporary folder, System32, or SysWOW64 is not a reliable solution.
Understand 32-bit and 64-bit differences
The file name does not tell you which architecture the DLL uses. Historical Corel products include 32-bit builds, while newer CorelDRAW installations can include a 64-bit CrlIUI.dll under Programs64.
A 32-bit Corel application can run on 64-bit Windows, but it may require x86 supporting components. Conversely, a 64-bit Corel program needs its compatible 64-bit application files. Replacing one with the other is not a valid repair.
To check the application architecture:
- Open Task Manager with
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Start the Corel application if it will launch.
- Open the Details tab.
- Right-click a column heading and choose Select columns if needed.
- Look for an architecture indicator where Windows provides one.
The most dependable architecture check remains the official Corel installer and the directory it creates. Restore the file through that installer rather than selecting a DLL based only on its name.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix 4: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine a damaged-looking application file. A filename alone does not prove that a file is safe, so verify the path and publisher before restoring anything.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Open any detection associated with the Corel installation.
- Check the detected path, threat details, and action taken.
- Confirm that the file came from the legitimate Corel installation directory.
If a legitimate Corel file was quarantined, Windows Security may offer Restore or Allow on device. Only use that action when the installation source and file location are trustworthy. Microsoft warns that a restored file can be detected again.

The safer approach is usually to repair or reinstall Corel from official installation media. That replaces the file and lets antivirus scan a fresh, complete installation rather than relying on a manually restored item.
After reinstalling, update Windows Security and run a scan. If the same file is repeatedly detected, do not keep restoring it. Record the detection details and contact Corel Support.

Fix 5: Repair a specifically named Visual C++ dependency
Do not assume that crliui.dll is itself a Visual C++ runtime. It is a Corel component. Visual C++ repair is appropriate only when the error also names a Microsoft runtime such as:
MSVCP*.dll
VCRUNTIME*.dll
mfc*.dll
It can also be relevant when Corel Support identifies a missing runtime dependency.
Repair or install the matching runtime
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps → Installed apps.
- Search for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
- Open the entry matching the runtime named by the error.
- Choose Modify if available.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows and test Corel.
If the required package is absent, obtain the current supported Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft. Match the package to the application, not simply to the Windows installation. A 32-bit Corel application may require the x86 package even on 64-bit Windows.
Do not install unrelated runtime packages blindly. Do not replace crliui.dll with a Visual C++ file.

Fix 6: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and System File Checker repair Windows components and protected Windows files. They normally will not recreate a missing third-party Corel DLL, so use them as a secondary step when Windows itself also shows corruption or several unrelated programs fail.
Run DISM first
- Press
Windows. - Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the operation to finish.
- Restart Windows if DISM requests it.
Run SFC afterward
Open an elevated Command Prompt again and enter:
sfc /scannow
Wait until verification reaches 100 percent. Then restart Windows and test Corel.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test the application again. If it reports that it could not repair some files, repeat the DISM command after installing pending Windows updates, then run SFC again. If only Corel is affected, return to Corel Repair or reinstall instead of repeatedly running Windows repair commands.

When manually hunting through Windows components and repeating SFC or DISM without knowing what changed becomes the problem, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for broader issues and show what needs attention; its full version performs repairs. It is optional, and reinstalling Corel remains the definitive fix for a missing Corel-owned DLL.
Fix 7: Update drivers only when the symptoms point there
A graphics-driver update is not a normal fix for a missing crliui.dll file. Consider it when Corel began crashing after a display-driver change, the application shows rendering problems, or other graphics applications fail as well.
Check Device Manager
- Press
Windows+X. - Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics adapter.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Review the provider, date, and version.
- Use Update Driver only with a driver from the computer or graphics-chip vendor.
- Restart Windows and test Corel.
If the problem began immediately after a driver update, open the same tab and select Roll Back Driver when available. Do not remove the display adapter unless you have the correct replacement driver ready.
Manually checking hardware IDs, vendor packages, and driver versions can take time, especially when several devices are stale. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify driver updates, while installation through the hardware vendor remains the safer definitive path for a graphics-specific issue. It is optional and does not replace repairing Corel when crliui.dll itself is missing.
Fix 8: Use System Restore after a recent change
If Corel worked until a driver installation, application update, or system change, System Restore may undo the change.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Press
Windows. - Type Create a restore point.
- Open the result.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the failure.
- Review the affected programs and drivers.
- Start the restore.
- Restart Windows and test Corel.
System Restore affects system files, registry settings, and installed programs, but it normally does not remove personal documents. It is not a substitute for reinstalling Corel if the installation is damaged.
Do not use these common DLL fixes
Do not download a random crliui.dll
Unverified DLL download sites can provide malware, the wrong Corel release, or the wrong architecture. Even a clean file may not match the exports and dependencies expected by your Corel executable.
A copied DLL often leaves the actual damaged installation untouched. It can also move the problem to another missing component.
Use the official Corel installer, your Corel account, or original licensed installation media. Use Microsoft pages only for Windows components and Microsoft runtimes.
Do not copy it into System32 or SysWOW64
Those folders are not general-purpose storage for application DLLs. The correct file belongs in the Corel program directory. Windows may continue loading the wrong copy, or Corel may reject a binary that does not match its build.
Do not run regsvr32 by default
regsvr32 is intended for self-registering COM and ActiveX DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. crliui.dll is identified as a Corel user-interface component, not as an established self-registering COM server.

If you run:
regsvr32 crliui.dll
and receive a registration error, that does not prove the file is missing. It usually means registration does not apply, a dependency is absent, or the DLL does not provide the required entry point. Repair Corel instead.
Do not use Windows Features for this Corel file
The Turn Windows features on or off panel is for Windows components such as .NET Framework features, not for restoring Corel’s private application files. Use it only when a separate application error specifically identifies a Windows feature that is missing.

If the error remains after reinstalling
Collect this information before contacting Corel Support:
- Exact Corel product and edition.
- Exact Windows version.
- Full error text.
- Whether the error names
CrlIUI.dllor another dependency. - The full path where Corel expects the file.
- Whether
CrlIUI.dllexists inProgramsorPrograms64. - Whether antivirus quarantined it.
- Whether Repair completed successfully.
- Whether a clean reinstall changed the error.
- Whether other applications fail in the same way.
If the file exists in the correct Corel directory but the application still will not load, the DLL may be only one part of a damaged installation. A dependency, user profile, workspace, registry entry, or incompatible plug-in may be the real cause.
Prevention
- Keep the Corel installer or official account access available before uninstalling.
- Avoid registry cleaners and DLL “fixer” utilities.
- Do not move the Corel program folder manually.
- Review antivirus quarantine after major Corel updates.
- Keep Windows and graphics drivers current when Corel supports the update.
- Back up custom workspaces, templates, fonts, and plug-in settings before a reinstall.
- Record whether your Corel application is 32-bit or 64-bit before installing supporting runtimes.
FAQ
Is crliui.dll a Windows file?
No. It is a Corel User Interface component associated with the Corel Common Framework and Corel graphics software. It should not normally be copied into a Windows system directory.
Which program installed crliui.dll?
Corel graphics applications, including CorelDRAW-related installations, are associated with the file. The complete list depends on the Corel product and release. Check the installation directory and the application that displayed the error.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIs crliui.dll always 32-bit?
No. Older Corel products used 32-bit builds, while newer CorelDRAW installations can contain the file under Programs64. Restore the version supplied by the exact Corel installer you use.
Can I download only crliui.dll?
Do not use an arbitrary DLL download. The correct fix is Corel Repair or a reinstall from official Corel media so the file matches the rest of the application.
Should I run SFC for this error?
Run SFC when Windows shows broader component problems. SFC normally will not restore a missing third-party Corel DLL. Repair Corel first when Corel alone is affected.
Should I install Visual C++?
Only when the error names a Visual C++ runtime or Corel identifies it as a dependency. Match x86 to a 32-bit application and x64 to a 64-bit application.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Why does Windows say the file is “not designed to run on Windows”?
That wording often indicates a damaged or mismatched binary. Reinstall the parent Corel product instead of replacing the file with a random copy.
What if Corel launches but crashes later?
Reset the workspace by holding F8 while starting Corel. If the crash continues, repair the installation and check plug-ins, antivirus history, and the exact module named in the crash message.
