cublas64_100.dll is a 64-bit NVIDIA cuBLAS runtime library associated with CUDA 10.0, and the safest fix is usually to repair the application that requests it. Do not download cublas64_100.dll from a random DLL site or copy it into a Windows system folder; restore it through the application’s installer or the matching official CUDA package.
What this file actually does
cuBLAS is NVIDIA’s GPU-accelerated Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms library. Applications use it for operations such as matrix calculations and other numerical workloads on a CUDA-capable NVIDIA GPU.
The filename indicates both architecture and CUDA-era compatibility:
64indicates a 64-bit Windows library.100corresponds to the CUDA 10.0 library naming convention.- The related CUDA Toolkit package is identified by NVIDIA as
cublas_10.0, or the CUBLAS runtime libraries.
NVIDIA documents the cublas64_<version>.dll naming pattern rather than printing this exact filename in its public installer documentation. The identification of cublas64_100.dll as the CUDA 10.0-era 64-bit cuBLAS binary follows that documented pattern.

The correct location depends on how the application was built. Do not move the file between applications without confirming that the binary, dependencies, and license allow that deployment.

| What you see | Most likely cause | First action |
|---|---|---|
| “The program can’t start because cublas64_100.dll is missing” | The application’s bundled CUDA files were deleted or damaged | Verify, repair, or reinstall that application |
| “cublas64_100.dll was not found” after moving to another PC | The application or its CUDA runtime was not migrated completely | Run the application’s official installer again |
| “The specified module could not be found” | The named DLL may exist, but another dependency is missing | Inspect the dependency chain and check the next error |

No single application owns this filename. Different games, media tools, scientific programs, and other CUDA-enabled applications can request it.
Fix 1: Repair the application that reports the error
This is the most reliable fix for ordinary users because the application vendor may package a tested set of CUDA libraries.
- Close the affected application.
- Read the error window and note the program name.
- Open the application’s launcher.
- Look for Verify files, Verify integrity, Repair, Scan and repair, or Manage installation.
- Start the verification or repair process.
- Allow it to replace missing or damaged files.
- Restart Windows.
- Start the application again.
If the application has no repair option:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Find the affected program.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Choose Modify, Repair, or Uninstall, depending on what is available.
- If repair is unavailable, uninstall the program.
- Download its installer from the developer or software vendor.
- Reinstall it to its normal location.
- Run it once as administrator if the installer or vendor specifically requires elevated access.
A successful repair normally means the application starts without the DLL message. If a different DLL error appears, record that filename. It may reveal a missing Microsoft runtime or another dependency rather than another copy of cuBLAS.
Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can remove or quarantine a CUDA library after an application update, migration, or scan.

- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an entry mentioning the affected application or
cublas64_100.dll. - Confirm that the application came from a trusted developer.
- If the detection is clearly a false positive, follow your security software’s restore procedure.
- Add an exclusion only if your organization’s security policy permits it.
- Repair or reinstall the application afterward from its official installer.
Do not restore a DLL downloaded from an unknown source. If the file was quarantined because the application itself is untrusted, remove the application instead.
Fix 3: Install CUDA 10.0 only when you deliberately use CUDA
If you are a developer or intentionally installed CUDA for a scientific or technical application, install the matching CUDA Toolkit rather than a newer version chosen at random.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps.
- Search for CUDA or NVIDIA CUDA Toolkit.
- Remove or modify the damaged CUDA 10.0 installation if appropriate.
- Restart Windows.
- Obtain the CUDA Toolkit 10.0 package from NVIDIA’s official CUDA 10.0 download archive.
- Run the installer as an administrator.
- Select the CUDA Toolkit components required by the application.
- Complete the installation.
- Confirm that the expected file is present under the CUDA 10.0
bindirectory. - Restart Windows and test the application.
CUDA Toolkit 10.0 was version 10.0.130, and NVIDIA’s Windows archive provides an x86-64 installer for Windows 10. A newer CUDA Toolkit is not guaranteed to provide the older, versioned filename that an application requests. Do not rename a newer cublas DLL to cublas64_100.dll.
Multiple CUDA Toolkit versions can coexist, but PATH ordering may cause an application to load an unintended version. Prefer application-local libraries or the vendor’s documented environment configuration.
Fix 4: Confirm 64-bit versus 32-bit architecture
cublas64_100.dll is a 64-bit library. A 32-bit application cannot use it.
To check the application:
- Open the application’s installation folder.
- Right-click its main executable.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Details tab and note any architecture information.
- If that information is not shown, check the vendor’s system requirements or inspect the executable with a reputable dependency inspection tool.
On 64-bit Windows, a 32-bit program normally uses 32-bit libraries and may request a filename such as cublas32_100.dll instead. Do not place the 64-bit file in C:WindowsSysWOW64, and do not place a 32-bit replacement in C:WindowsSystem32. Those folders are not a substitute for the application’s correct runtime package.

Fix 5: Check for a missing dependency
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that cublas64_100.dll itself is absent. Windows may have found the named DLL but failed to load one of its dependencies.
- Open the application’s installation folder.
- Confirm whether
cublas64_100.dllis present beside the executable. - Use a reputable dependency inspection tool to examine the executable and the cuBLAS library.
- Look for missing Microsoft runtime, CUDA, or other vendor libraries.
- Repair the application rather than copying individual dependencies from another computer.
If the next error names MSVCP*.dll or VCRUNTIME*.dll, install or repair the appropriate Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft. Match the architecture: x64 for a 64-bit application and x86 for a 32-bit application running on 64-bit Windows.
Installing Visual C++ does not install cublas64_100.dll. It only addresses a separate Microsoft runtime dependency when that dependency is actually missing.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components only when Windows itself is damaged
SFC and DISM repair protected Windows files and the Windows component store. They do not normally recreate a missing third-party CUDA library, so use them when you also see broader Windows corruption, failed system updates, or damaged built-in components.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application.
Success means DISM reports that the restore operation completed and SFC reports either that it found no integrity violations or repaired protected system files. If the application still reports cublas64_100.dll, repair the application or CUDA installation instead.
When manually repeating SFC and DISM becomes guesswork, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for the Windows issues it identifies and apply repairs through its full version; reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix when that program owns the missing CUDA file.
Fix 7: Check the NVIDIA driver only when the error points to the driver
A missing cuBLAS DLL is usually not fixed by reinstalling the display driver. Driver work becomes relevant when the application finds the DLL but reports no CUDA device, driver initialization failure, or an incompatible driver.

- If Windows reports a problem, select Uninstall Device only when you have the correct replacement driver ready.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the driver supplied by NVIDIA or the computer manufacturer.
- Restart again and test the CUDA application.
When finding the right driver manually means comparing hardware models and driver packages, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver issues and install updates through its full version; it is not a replacement for repairing the application that bundles the CUDA runtime.

Do not run:
regsvr32 cublas64_100.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose the COM-style DllRegisterServer entry point. cuBLAS is a runtime library, not a self-registering COM component. Registration will not repair a missing dependency and may produce another error.
Likewise, do not copy the file into C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or another global Windows folder. The application’s own directory or the matching CUDA Toolkit bin directory is the appropriate location when supplied by the official installer.
Find the executable requesting the DLL
If several programs are installed, identify the actual owner before changing CUDA or driver files.
- Check the error dialog for the executable name.
- Open the program’s installation directory.
- Review launcher logs or crash reports.
- Search that folder for the application executable and
cublas64_100.dll. - Use a dependency inspection tool to examine the executable’s imports.
- Advanced users can use Visual Studio’s
dumpbincommand:
dumpbin /IMPORTS "C:PathToApplication.exe"
Look for cublas64_100.dll in the import list. This confirms what the executable requests, though it does not by itself prove that every dependency is present.

Is cublas64_100.dll part of Windows?
No. It is an NVIDIA CUDA cuBLAS runtime library associated with CUDA 10.0.
Does it come with the NVIDIA display driver?
Not necessarily. NVIDIA separates the CUDA driver requirements from the CUDA Toolkit libraries. Installing the latest display driver does not guarantee that the CUDA Toolkit’s cuBLAS DLL is installed.

Does every application need CUDA 10.0?
No. Only applications built to request that CUDA-era library, or software whose vendor bundles it, need this specific filename. Installing CUDA 10.0 is most appropriate when you deliberately use CUDA or the application’s documentation requires it.
Should I download the DLL by itself?
No. Standalone DLL downloads can contain malware, the wrong architecture, or the wrong CUDA compatibility version. They also leave dependent files and application configuration unresolved.

Only if the dependency chain also reports a missing MSVCP*.dll or VCRUNTIME*.dll. It does not install cuBLAS.
Will SFC restore the file?
Normally no. SFC repairs protected Windows system files, while cublas64_100.dll belongs to a third-party application or CUDA Toolkit installation.
What if the file exists but Windows still cannot load it?
Check for a missing dependency, incompatible architecture, damaged binary, or incorrect PATH order. Repair the application and inspect its executable imports rather than renaming or replacing DLLs blindly.
