Does Unholy Alliance add co-op to Cult of the Lamb?
Yes. Unholy Alliance added local co-op for two players to the existing game. One person plays as the Lamb; the second joins as the Goat. The update was announced as free, so it is an update to Cult of the Lamb, not a separately paid DLC purchase. What can two players do together?
Crusades and cult-building
The Lamb and Goat can venture through dungeons, fight heretics, and build the cult together. The Nintendo Switch listing and Steam listing describe playing the campaign in local co-op.
Fishing and Knucklebones
The update adds two-player twists on fishing and Knucklebones, extending co-op beyond combat and dungeon exploration. These activities were highlighted in Devolver Digital’s feature announcement.

What else is in the update?
Unholy Alliance also adds corrupted weapons, tarot cards, curses, relics, and two new structures. Some of the new relics and tarot cards are designed with co-op in mind. The update is not only for people playing with a partner: Nintendo’s listing also notes new powers for solo players.
Is Cult of the Lamb co-op online?
The official platform descriptions cited here specify local co-op. They do not establish native online matchmaking or cross-platform play, so do not assume you can invite someone over the internet through an in-game online mode. Steam Remote Play Together is not confirmed by the Steam listing cited here.

What do you need to play co-op?
Plan for two players to have a way to provide separate inputs on your platform, and check the platform’s current controller compatibility information if you need another controller. The official listings do not state that every platform requires a separate physical controller for each player, or name one universal compatible controller model.
