Cyber Monday fell on December 1, 2025, and the available evidence does not independently confirm that the $50 discount has returned in September 2026. Nintendo’s surfaced official alternative is a different game-choice bundle offering savings of up to $29.99, subject to retailer availability and offer terms.
If you find a $449 listing now, check that it is the exact new U.S. bundle, sold or fulfilled by a reputable retailer, and not a marketplace, refurbished, imported, or incomplete unit.

The $449 Mario Kart World bundle was a historical Cyber Monday deal
During Cyber Monday 2025, retailers including Walmart reportedly offered the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle for $449, down from its usual bundled price of about $499.99. The promotion was notable because the standalone Switch 2 was priced at $449.99: buyers effectively received Mario Kart World at no additional cost compared with purchasing the console alone.
This was a bundle discount, not a permanent $50 reduction in the price of Switch 2 hardware. Coverage from Engadget, Nintendo Life, and 9to5Toys described it as temporary and stock-sensitive.
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Race from one course to another through interconnected paths that span the world
- Traverse mountains, forests, cities, and more—with shifting weather patterns and a day/night cycle
Current status: the supplied deal evidence is from December 2025. It does not establish that the $449 offer is still available now. Retail prices, stock, shipping charges, and marketplace listings can change independently, so a live checkout—not an old headline—is the final authority.
What the bundle included
The official Mario Kart World bundle included:
- Nintendo Switch 2 hardware;
- the standard Switch 2 dock, controllers, power accessories, and other hardware included with the console; and
- a full-game digital download of Mario Kart World.
It was not automatically a physical-cartridge bundle. Check the individual listing to see how the digital entitlement is delivered—such as through the purchasing account, a redemption process, or a download code. Digital games generally cannot be resold or lent like physical cartridges and require storage space.
Why $449 was such a strong price
| Purchase | Historical price | What was included |
|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 console alone | $449.99 | Hardware only |
| Switch 2 + Mario Kart World, Cyber Monday 2025 | $449 | Hardware plus Mario Kart World digital download |
| Standard Mario Kart World bundle price | About $499.99 | Hardware plus Mario Kart World digital download |
At the historical $449 price, the bundle was the better purchase for anyone who wanted Mario Kart World. The practical saving was the game’s value, not a new lower MSRP for the console itself. If you already owned Mario Kart World digitally, the benefit was smaller.
Nintendo’s current alternative
Nintendo’s retail-offers page currently surfaces a different type of promotion: a Switch 2 system bundled with a choice of Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Pokémon Pokopia, with savings advertised at up to $29.99. The exact retailer, price, stock, start and end dates, and eligible game can vary.
This offer should not be confused with the historical $50 Cyber Monday promotion. It may be the better fit if you want one of the alternative games, but it is not evidence that the old $449 Mario Kart World price has returned.
Rank #2
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps

How to verify a $449 listing
If a retailer shows the old price, verify all of the following before ordering:
- Exact product: confirm that the listing is the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle, not the console alone or a separate game listing.
- Condition: look for new condition and a U.S. model. Avoid assuming that a lower price includes full warranty coverage.
- Seller and fulfillment: distinguish “sold by” from “fulfilled by.” Marketplace sellers may offer imported, used, refurbished, or incomplete products under a similar title.
- Game format: confirm that Mario Kart World is included as a digital entitlement and understand how it is redeemed.
- Checkout price: add the item to the cart. Some discounts appear only at checkout, while shipping, taxes, membership fees, or required payment methods can erase the saving.
- Stock: separate shipping, store pickup, back-order, and unavailable status. Pickup availability may depend on ZIP code.
- Returns: check the retailer’s return window and warranty terms before buying an expensive marketplace listing.
Historical retailer destinations included Walmart and Amazon, but generic search pages do not prove that an exact deal or seller is currently available.
Game deals: what to check before buying
Cyber Monday coverage also featured discounts on games, including promotions such as Just Dance 2026. Those prices were temporary and should not be carried forward as current offers without checking the live product page.
For any discounted game, identify:
- whether it is labeled for Switch 2, original Switch, or both;
- whether it is physical or digital;
- the retailer and seller offering the price;
- whether the game has a Switch 2 edition, upgrade, or enhanced features;
- how much storage a digital version and its updates may require; and
- whether online multiplayer requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Original Switch games that run on Switch 2 can be worthwhile, but a low price does not necessarily mean the game includes a Switch 2 upgrade. Check Nintendo’s product information and the game’s exact edition before purchasing.
Accessory deals worth considering
Prioritize accessories that solve a specific ownership need rather than buying every product labeled “Switch 2.” Useful categories include:
Rank #3

- Pro Controller 2: a comfort and battery-life upgrade for players who prefer a traditional controller.
- Carrying case and screen protector: practical for portable use, provided the case explicitly fits Switch 2.
- microSD Express storage: consider this when buying several digital games; do not treat a standard microSD card as automatically equivalent.
- Additional AC adapter, dock, or charging equipment: useful for a second room or travel, but unnecessary if the included equipment meets your needs.
- Camera or webcam accessory: relevant to GameChat features, subject to the accessory’s stated compatibility.
- Racing wheel or grip: optional for Mario Kart World and other racing games.
Official Nintendo accessories generally offer stronger compatibility confidence but often cost more. Third-party cases, protectors, and controllers can be good values, but verify Switch 2 fit, dock clearance, motion controls, HD rumble, wake functionality, and other features individually. A product title that says only “Nintendo Switch” is not proof of full Switch 2 compatibility.

Digital versus physical games
A digital bundle is convenient and avoids changing cartridges, but the entitlement is normally tied to an account and cannot be resold. Digital games also consume internal or expansion storage. Physical games are easier to resell, lend, or collect, although they require cartridges and may still need updates or additional downloads.
For a buyer who already owns Mario Kart World, a bundle containing the same digital game may offer less value than a standalone console or a bundle with a different game. Compare the complete purchase price rather than relying on the advertised percentage discount.
Who should buy and who should wait?
- Buy the historical $449 bundle if it genuinely returns: only when the exact new bundle is confirmed, retailer-fulfilled or sold by a trusted retailer, and the final checkout price is $449 before applicable tax.
- Choose Nintendo’s game-choice bundle: if you want Donkey Kong Bananza or Pokémon Pokopia, or prefer the clearer terms of an official current offer.
- Buy the console alone: only if it is materially cheaper than an available bundle or you do not want any included game.
- Consider refurbished or open-box hardware cautiously: the saving should compensate for reduced warranty coverage, possible missing accessories, and condition risk.
- Wait: if the only $449 listing is a marketplace offer, imported unit, refurbished product, scalper listing, or listing with unusually high shipping.
Deal history and source context
The Cyber Monday 2025 promotion was reported as a surprise or first price drop for the Mario Kart World bundle. Nintendo Wire and Tom’s Guide also covered the holiday discounts. These reports are useful for understanding the deal’s history, but they do not verify current stock or prices.
For official specifications and included hardware, consult Nintendo’s Switch 2 information page. For any current promotion, confirm the retailer’s exact listing, seller, fulfillment method, condition, digital-game format, and checkout total.
