The two additions had different plan and platform listings, and both announced dates have now passed. Xbox’s announcement does not establish whether either game remains in the catalog on August 16, 2026.
At a glance
| Game | Game Pass date | Plans listed by Xbox | Platforms listed | Release model |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf | March 5, 2026 | Xbox Game Pass Ultimate; PC Game Pass | Cloud; Xbox Series X|S; handheld; PC | Day one |
| Cyberpunk 2077 | March 10, 2026 | Xbox Game Pass Ultimate; Game Pass Premium | Cloud; console | Catalog addition |
These details come from Xbox’s official announcement, “Coming to Xbox Game Pass: Cyberpunk 2077, Planet of Lana II, and More”. “Handheld” is Xbox’s designation for games optimized for handheld play.
Planet of Lana II: a day-one cinematic adventure
Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf was the day-one release in the announcement, arriving March 5, 2026. Xbox listed it for Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC support.
The game is a cinematic science-fiction platforming adventure centered on Lana and her companion, Mui. Its play loop combines platforming, puzzle-solving, exploration, secrets, and threats affecting their home. That makes it a substantially different proposition from a sprawling role-playing game: the appeal is a focused journey built around atmosphere, environmental challenges, and the relationship between its two protagonists.

Cyberpunk 2077: an open-world RPG on cloud and console
Cyberpunk 2077 joined the catalog on March 10, 2026, according to Xbox. The announcement listed the game for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass Premium, with cloud and console support.
Xbox describes it as a large-scale open-world action RPG set in Night City. You play V, a cyberpunk mercenary whose story begins after a heist involving an experimental prototype goes wrong. It is the larger time commitment of the two announced additions, so subscription value depends on whether you expect to spend many sessions in its world and whether you prefer access through a catalog to permanent ownership.

Important PC Game Pass limitation
The announcement did not list Cyberpunk 2077 for PC Game Pass. Its general availability on PC outside Game Pass does not change the specific Game Pass listing: Xbox identified cloud and console, not PC, for this addition.
Which game fits your setup and play style?
| If you want… | The closer fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A large open-world RPG and a long-form campaign | Cyberpunk 2077 | Night City, character-driven storytelling, and the broader RPG structure suit extended play sessions. |
| A focused cinematic adventure | Planet of Lana II | Its emphasis is platforming, puzzles, exploration, and a companion-led story rather than an open world. |
| PC Game Pass access | Planet of Lana II | Xbox explicitly listed PC Game Pass for this title; it did not do so for Cyberpunk 2077. |
| Cloud or console access to the announced titles | Either, subject to the listed plan | Planet of Lana II was listed for cloud and Xbox Series X|S, while Cyberpunk 2077 was listed for cloud and console. |
| A day-one subscription launch | Planet of Lana II | Xbox explicitly labeled it day one; Cyberpunk 2077 was a later catalog addition. |
What subscribers should verify
Match the plan to the game
- Planet of Lana II: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, as listed in the announcement.
- Cyberpunk 2077: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass Premium, as listed in the announcement.
- Do not assume Premium includes Planet of Lana II, or that PC Game Pass includes Cyberpunk 2077, because neither was listed that way.
Catalog access is not ownership
A Game Pass subscription grants catalog access rather than permanent ownership. If a title leaves the service, you may need to buy it to continue playing; Xbox says departing games can generally be purchased at a discount, but the announcement gives no departure date for either title. Check the live catalog before subscribing specifically for one of these games.

Do not assume an edition or expansion
The announcement does not confirm Phantom Liberty, other downloadable content, a complete edition, bonus items, cross-progression, or Xbox Play Anywhere. Treat the Game Pass listing as confirmation of the named game only unless a current official store listing says otherwise.
Cloud-play practicalities
Cloud availability can depend on the title, subscription, region, supported device, and network quality. A cloud listing is not a guarantee of identical access in every market or on every device.

Does either addition justify a subscription?
For an existing subscriber, the answer depends mainly on the plan and platform: PC players have a clearly listed route to Planet of Lana II, while the announcement’s route for Cyberpunk 2077 is Ultimate or Premium on cloud and console. For a new subscriber, compare the current plan price with the game’s purchase price and how long you expect to play. Buying outright is more suitable if you want permanent access, expect to replay the game, or want content that has not been confirmed as included.
Use Xbox’s current subscription pages for live plan terms rather than relying on March announcement details: Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Current game prices and editions should be checked in the Xbox games store.

The bottom line
Xbox’s March 3 announcement delivered two deliberately different Game Pass additions: Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf arrived day one on March 5 for Ultimate and PC Game Pass, while Cyberpunk 2077 joined on March 10 for Ultimate and Premium, listed for cloud and console. Choose between them by checking the plan your device supports and deciding whether you want a focused puzzle-platforming adventure or a much larger open-world RPG. The announcement alone cannot confirm either game’s catalog status on August 16, 2026.
