What Xbox and Meta announced
The Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition is a special-color version of Meta’s standalone Quest 3S, created in partnership with Xbox. Launch price and availability
At launch on June 24, 2025, the bundle cost $399.99 in the United States and £379.99 in the United Kingdom. Xbox said quantities were “extremely limited” and that the bundle would be available while supplies lasted; it did not state how many units were produced. Those are launch prices, not confirmed prices today.
The launch announcement named Meta.com and Best Buy in the U.S., and Argos and EE in the U.K. These are the retailers identified for the original launch, not confirmation of current stock. What the Xbox features actually do
The Xbox app brings Xbox Cloud Gaming to the Quest. Rather than rendering Xbox games as immersive VR experiences, the headset displays supported games on a large virtual screen. That can let someone play without occupying a television, using a compatible controller and a stable internet connection. Quest 3S hardware beneath the special design
The Xbox Edition is based on the 128GB Quest 3S; its themed finish and bundled accessories do not make it a different generation of headset. For use as a virtual monitor, the lenses matter: Fresnel optics have a smaller clear “sweet spot” and can show more glare than pancake lenses, so some users may need to move their head to keep text clear. That is a practical trade-off, not a reason to dismiss the 3S for games and general VR. The same coverage estimates typical battery life at roughly 2–2.5 hours depending on use; treat that as an estimate for the platform, not a guaranteed runtime for every session. The included Elite Strap should not be assumed to extend battery life.

The Quest 3S’s Fresnel lenses can require more head movement to find the clearest view, while Quest 3’s pancake lenses generally offer a wider clear area—useful when reading text or spending long sessions with a virtual screen. Is the Xbox Edition worth its launch premium?
At U.S. launch, the Xbox Edition cost about $100 more than the standard 128GB Quest 3S. In return, buyers got the limited-edition Xbox controller, Elite Strap, themed design and three-month subscription trials. Whether that premium made sense depended on whether the buyer wanted those specific accessories and services; the bundle did not add exclusive VR capability.
A fair comparison is the cost of a standard Quest 3S plus the current prices of the strap and controller, alongside the buyer’s actual value for the subscription trials. Those accessory and subscription prices can change, and no current comparable prices are established here, so a precise present-day savings claim would be misleading. Someone who already owns a Bluetooth controller and comfortable strap—or does not plan to use Game Pass Ultimate cloud gaming—has less reason to pay extra for this bundle. A buyer considering a resale listing should separate the product’s appeal from the seller’s asking price.

- Cloud-gaming players with unreliable or high-latency internet, or who live where the relevant service or titles are unsupported.
- Buyers whose only option is a resale listing priced well above the original launch price.
Setup considerations for Xbox cloud play
- Set up the Quest with a Meta account and complete the headset’s safety and play-space setup.
- Sign in to the Xbox app with a Microsoft/Xbox account and confirm cloud gaming is supported in your region.
- Use the included Xbox Wireless Controller or another compatible Bluetooth controller; if it does not connect, check Bluetooth pairing in Quest settings and pair it again.
- For the Game Pass catalog, redeem the promotional Ultimate entitlement if eligible and verify its end date and renewal terms before relying on access.
- Test the connection where you plan to play. If controls feel delayed or the image stutters, try a stronger Wi-Fi signal or less congested network before concluding the headset is at fault.
Microsoft announced a collectible, accessory-rich Quest bundle—not a new Xbox VR platform. Its appeal is strongest for people who want the design, controller and strap, and will use Xbox Cloud Gaming; other VR buyers should weigh a regular Quest 3S’s lower launch price or Quest 3’s optics against their own needs.
