Cosplay creator Zibartas recreated the NUSA Infiltrator jacket from Cyberpunk 2077 as a working wearable display. The most ambitious part is the collar: four flexible OLED panels curve around the neck, driven by two Raspberry Pi 4 boards and powered with two concealed power banks. The reported display bill alone was about $1,200, and the system ran its screens and LEDs for roughly three hours.
The project is notable less for a conventional parts list than for the engineering compromises behind it. A panel failed during installation, the support structure had to be redesigned, and a planned Raspberry Pi 5 setup was replaced after synchronization and video-decoding work became impractical. Here is what was actually reported about that build, followed by practical guidance for anyone attempting a similar wearable display.

What Zibartas actually built
The finished garment is a handmade recreation of the NUSA Infiltrator jacket, produced in the maker’s workshop. Its defining feature is a luminous collar made from four flexible OLED panels. Two Raspberry Pi 4 boards coordinate playback, while two power banks hidden around the lower back supply the screens and lighting. A separate 3D-printed shoulder assembly represents the jacket’s radar-jammer detail and carries four indicator LEDs.
Tom’s Hardware reported these details in 2026 and identified Zibartas as a robotics and animatronic cosplay enthusiast. The report describes a one-off costume project, not a commercial product or a standardized kit. Exact display models, dimensions, panel supplier, battery capacities, wiring diagrams and a reproducible bill of materials were not published.

Why the collar became the hardest part
Four screens had to behave like one curved surface
A flat display can be attached to a rigid panel with predictable pressure. A collar has a different problem: it curves around the wearer, twists as the jacket is put on, and flexes when the wearer moves. Four independent panels also create four seams that must line up visually and mechanically.
The panels used in this project were described as flexible OLEDs primarily intended for flagship phones and tablets. That description indicates why they could follow a collar’s arc, but it does not establish that they were designed for costume use, repeated bending, impact, sweat or textile laundering. Their flexibility should not be interpreted as unlimited twist tolerance.
The first installation damaged a panel
Zibartas reported that the first panel was damaged while being fitted into the curved collar’s EVA-foam housing. The failure happened during installation, before the garment had become a finished costume. At roughly $300 per panel, a single mistake represented a substantial portion of the display budget.
The maker responded by designing a semi-rigid support with side tracks intended to resist twisting. This is a project-specific recovery, not a guarantee that the structure prevents future damage. The important design lesson is to control deformation mechanically instead of asking the OLED itself to absorb every force.
Practical mounting guidance for a similar build
If you are designing your own collar, treat the screen as a protected module rather than as the structural shell.
- Measure the wearer’s neck and the garment’s intended curve before ordering panels. Leave room for seams, connectors and a service path.
- Create a full-size dummy from inexpensive card, foam or a nonfunctional plastic sheet. Test the curve while the jacket is worn, removed and stored.
- Use a semi-rigid carrier to define the arc, with compliant padding between the carrier and the wearer. Side rails or tracks can limit twisting, but they must not pinch the panel.
- Provide strain relief where every flex cable exits the carrier. A cable that is safe on a bench can fail when the collar is repeatedly donned.
- Make the carrier removable. A display that cannot be extracted for inspection turns a minor connector problem into a costume teardown.
Why the project moved from Raspberry Pi 5 to Pi 4
The build reportedly began with two Raspberry Pi 5 boards. After about a week of work on playback, Zibartas changed to Raspberry Pi 4 boards for this particular multi-screen arrangement. Tom’s Hardware attributes the change to the combined demands of video decoding and synchronized playback across multiple displays.

The maker said a direct gigabit network connection introduced too much overhead. The quoted workaround was: “At the start, I used direct gigabit network, but it added too much of an overhead. So, I moved to pure hardware GPIO pulses and Python.” In this design, GPIO provides a low-level timing signal while Python coordinates the application logic.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →This does not establish that Pi 4 is generally superior to Pi 5. It shows that, for this project’s software stack, display interfaces, decoding workload and synchronization method, the earlier arrangement was not meeting the maker’s needs. A different panel interface, codec, operating system or timing strategy could produce a different result on either board.
How to plan synchronization in a new build
Decide first whether the screens must be frame-synchronous or merely start together. Four animated panels that form one image need tighter timing than four independent status displays. If a network transport adds variable latency, a shared hardware trigger can give each player the same start edge. The software still needs a defined behavior when one panel misses a frame or reboots.
For a prototype, test the complete media pipeline before sewing anything into fabric:
- Connect every panel and its intended adapter to the chosen compute board.
- Play the longest, highest-bitrate clip you expect to use, not just a short test animation.
- Measure startup skew, dropped frames and recovery after disconnecting one display.
- Use a shared trigger or clock only after the basic decode load is stable.
- Log temperature, CPU utilization and storage errors during a full rehearsal.
Power, placement and the reported three-hour runtime
Two power banks were hidden in pockets around the jacket’s lower back. Tom’s Hardware reported about three hours of operation for the screens and LEDs. The article did not identify the banks’ capacities, output ratings, models or the method used to measure runtime, so the figure should be treated as a report of this costume, not a promise for another build.

Estimating runtime without guessing
For a new design, record the average electrical draw of the complete system, including display converters, computers, LEDs and any voltage conversion. Convert the battery’s rated capacity to usable watt-hours at the output voltage, then allow for conversion losses and the fact that power banks rarely deliver their headline capacity under every load. A useful planning relationship is:
runtime in hours ≈ usable watt-hours ÷ average watts.
Measure the real load while the brightest animation is playing and all LEDs are active. Keep a reserve for startup surges and avoid placing a battery where it can be crushed by a belt, chair or fall. Include protection against accidental shorts and make charging ports accessible without opening the collar.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe shoulder radar-jammer detail
The reported shoulder-mounted detail was 3D printed in flexible resin and fitted with four indicator LEDs. No resin formulation, printer, layer settings or LED specifications were given. That means the part can be described as a flexible-resin print with four lights, but not reproduced from the published information alone.
For a comparable prop, separate the decorative shell from the LED service panel. Flexible resin can tolerate some impact, yet thin sections, cured cable exits and screw holes still need reinforcement. Diffusers should be replaceable because LEDs and wiring are more likely to need service than the printed shell.
A practical workflow for recreating the concept
1. Define the visual target
Decide whether you need four panels showing one continuous animation or separate graphics on each section. Record the required viewing angle, brightness, animation length and acceptable seam visibility. This determines whether phone-class flexible OLEDs are appropriate or whether smaller rigid modules would be safer.

2. Prototype the collar mechanically
Build the carrier and foam interface before purchasing the expensive panels. Check neck clearance, shoulder movement, zipper access and how the collar behaves when the wearer sits. Add hard stops that limit twist and soft surfaces that prevent point pressure.

Replicate the proposed panel interfaces, adapters, compute boards and storage outside the garment. Confirm that every display can show the same test clip, then test the synchronization method under the full decoding load. Keep spare cables and a way to bypass one failed panel.
4. Design the power system around measured load
Log current at idle, during maximum brightness and during startup. Select batteries and converters from those measurements, not from the three-hour figure reported for Zibartas’s costume. Balance runtime against weight, heat, charging time and safe placement.
5. Integrate in serviceable layers
Use removable electronics pockets, labeled connectors and openings for inspection. Route signal and power separately where practical, secure every cable against repeated flexing, and protect boards from sweat and conductive debris. Test the jacket while walking, turning, sitting and removing it.
6. Rehearse failure recovery
Decide what the costume does if a panel loses power, a video process crashes or a battery is unplugged. A static fallback image or synchronized restart is more convincing than a dark collar that requires a laptop in the middle of an event.
Costs and unknowns you should budget for
| Budget item | What the reported build establishes | Planning implication for a new build |
|---|---|---|
| Flexible OLEDs | About $300 each; four panels totaled roughly $1,200 in the reported project | Reserve money for a damaged panel and verify compatibility before ordering |
| Raspberry Pi boards | Two Pi 4 boards were used after Pi 5 testing | Choose based on your interfaces, codecs and synchronization tests; board choice is not universally settled by this project |
| Batteries | Two power banks were used; capacity not stated | Measure load and calculate usable watt-hours; do not assume three hours |
| Mechanical parts | EVA foam, a semi-rigid support and side tracks were part of the collar solution | Prototype fit and strain relief before exposing real displays to the garment |
| Shoulder prop | Flexible-resin 3D print with four LEDs | Allow for print iterations, diffusers, wiring and a replaceable service panel |
Common failure modes and fixes
| Symptom | Likely area to inspect | Practical response |
|---|---|---|
| OLED shows a crack or permanent artifact after fitting | Twist, point pressure or a cable bend radius that is too tight | Stop powering it, remove the panel without flexing it further, revise the carrier and add strain relief before installing a replacement |
| Panels start together but drift apart | Network latency, independent clocks or uneven decode time | Measure skew, use a shared trigger, and define a resynchronization event in software |
| Playback stutters on all screens | Codec complexity, storage throughput, adapter limits or thermal throttling | Profile the complete media path, test a lower-bitrate copy, improve cooling and verify each interface separately |
| Runtime is far below expectation | Brightness, converter losses, battery aging or an underestimated load | Log watts at the battery output and at each major subsystem; recalculate from usable watt-hours |
| LEDs flicker when displays change scenes | Shared supply noise or inadequate current headroom | Separate LED and display power paths where possible, add proper regulation and check ground returns |
| Garment is difficult to put on | Heavy lower-back pockets, rigid collar geometry or inaccessible connectors | Rebalance mass, add quick-disconnects and make the electronics removable before the next fitting |
What is—and is not—known about the finished project
The documented facts are specific: Zibartas made the jacket, used four flexible OLED panels, redesigned the collar support after damaging one panel, switched from two Pi 5 boards to Pi 4 boards, synchronized with GPIO pulses and Python, powered the system from two power banks for about three hours, and added a flexible-resin shoulder prop with four LEDs.

The public details do not identify a panel model, battery capacity, supplier, wiring diagram, software package or complete cost. A Reddit post described the build as handmade in the maker’s workshop and indicated that a full build video was forthcoming at the time. The available information does not establish whether that video has since appeared.
Comments on that post included questions such as “Can you beat Cyberpunk 2077 on the Cyberpunk jacket?” and requests to see the collar build. Those comments show interest from individual readers, not a survey or a measured reception study.
Why this build is useful to other makers
The jacket demonstrates that a convincing game-inspired wearable is a systems-engineering problem. The visual effect depends on mechanical support, display handling, timing, power distribution, thermal management and service access working together. The most expensive component was also the most vulnerable: a flexible panel can follow the collar’s curve, but it should not be expected to provide the collar’s structure.
Zibartas’s switch in computing hardware is equally instructive. A faster board on paper does not automatically solve a multi-display pipeline when software overhead, interfaces and synchronization dominate. Testing the exact media path early—and giving the displays a deterministic timing signal—can matter more than choosing the newest board.
For anyone pursuing a similar NUSA Infiltrator interpretation, the safest sequence is to prototype the carrier, validate playback and synchronization on the bench, measure real power draw, and only then commit expensive OLEDs and electronics to the finished garment.
