In Steam’s U.S. Top Sellers snapshot returned on October 4, 2026, Gears of War: E-Day ranked above Cyberpunk 2077 on a chart described as ranking games by current revenue. But SteamDB’s snapshot from the same date showed Cyberpunk 2077 with far more total wishlists, while E-Day had the larger recent wishlist gain. None of these figures shows which game had more players or sold more copies overall.
What does “ahead on Steam” mean?
Steam’s U.S. Top Sellers chart and SteamDB’s wishlist and follower trackers measure different kinds of activity. The Top Sellers result is a volatile chart position described by Steam as ranking the top 100 selling games right now by revenue; the SteamDB figures are tracker snapshots, not official sales totals.

Why the revenue chart does not settle the comparison
The Steam U.S. Top Sellers page returned on October 4 placed E-Day above Cyberpunk 2077 in its chart described as “Top 100 selling games right now, by revenue.” That supports saying E-Day was ahead on this particular chart in that snapshot. It does not establish a broader or lasting win.

The same page showed E-Day at $69.99 and Cyberpunk 2077 at $17.99 after a displayed 70% discount. Those are time-sensitive displayed prices, not stable prices or evidence of units sold. A revenue chart position can reflect different prices and changing store activity; it should not be translated into a claim that one game has more players or more lifetime sales.
Wishlists and followers tell a different story
SteamDB’s Rising Wishlist Activity tracker snapshot returned October 4, 2026 shows the contrast between total interest and recent momentum: Cyberpunk 2077 leads the total wishlist count, while E-Day leads the recent wishlist gain. These are not interchangeable measures. A lifetime total accumulates over time; a recent gain captures a shorter period.

The SteamDB trending follower tracker returned that day likewise shows Cyberpunk 2077 with more total followers and E-Day with a slightly larger recent follower gain. Neither tracker establishes purchases, active players, or sales revenue. Counts and ranks can change after the snapshot.
Release timing matters for interpreting E-Day’s chart position
Steam’s listing index snapshot returned October 4, 2026 gave Gears of War: E-Day an availability date of October 6, 2026. In other words, the returned chart placed it above Cyberpunk 2077 two days before that listed date. The evidence does not explain why the game appeared in the chart before its listed availability, so the result should not be treated as evidence of post-launch player activity.
