Short answer: Dacast documents Simulcast as a way to send an existing encoder-based live channel to YouTube; it does not create the source stream. Its documentation treats VOD Rebroadcast as a separate feature and does not establish that a prerecorded loop can be simulcast continuously as a 24/7 YouTube feed. If that exact workflow is your goal, confirm the channel type, plan and destination behavior with Dacast before relying on it.
What Dacast Simulcast does
Dacast’s Simulcast workflow adds YouTube and other RTMP destinations to an existing Dacast live channel. You still need a source encoder sending a live feed to Dacast; Simulcast distributes that channel onward rather than creating video or a live source for you. Dacast’s Simulcast guide describes this as destination setup for an existing channel.
That distinction matters for a continuous stream. A camera, production system or software encoder can supply a live feed, but an uploaded recording that repeats is a different workflow. Dacast lists VOD Rebroadcast separately, and its documentation says Simulcast applies to encoder channels, not VOD Rebroadcast. The cited documentation does not verify that a prerecorded loop can be relayed to YouTube without interruption for 24/7 operation.
Can you use Dacast for a 24/7 YouTube livestream?
For an encoder-originated live channel, Dacast documents the path to YouTube, but that alone is not proof of uninterrupted 24/7 operation. The available product documentation does not establish continuity for every channel type, plan or configuration, nor does it provide independently verified uptime for this use case. Treat Dacast’s simulcasting claims as vendor descriptions, not a guarantee of performance for a particular setup.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Before choosing Dacast for an always-on channel, ask its support team to confirm in writing:
- Whether your intended source is an encoder live channel or a VOD Rebroadcast, and whether that exact channel type can be simulcast continuously to YouTube.
- Which plan supports the workflow, including any bandwidth, usage or destination limits and applicable support terms.
- What happens when the encoder, Dacast ingest or YouTube connection drops, and how the feed resumes.
- Whether your expected stream duration and configuration are supported without planned interruptions.

- Make your YouTube channel eligible to stream. YouTube requires a verified channel, live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Create or select a Dacast live encoder channel. Your encoder must already be sending the source feed to that channel. Dacast Simulcast attaches destinations to an existing live channel; it does not generate the source.
- Open the channel’s engagement settings and add YouTube as a destination. Follow Dacast’s current Simulcast instructions for the destination fields. Enter the YouTube stream key in Dacast as directed by the guide.
- Check the Dacast ingest details again. Dacast warns that adding destinations changes the channel’s ingest URL. Update the encoder to use the new ingest address; otherwise, it may continue sending to the previous address.
- Configure YouTube’s stream credentials and verify the feed. YouTube provides a server URL and stream key for encoder-based streams. Check that the Dacast destination uses the correct key, then preview the stream and monitor YouTube’s stream health before depending on it.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance is at Set up your encoder for live streaming. Playback at another destination remains subject to that platform’s behavior and limits, as Dacast notes in its guide.
Keep the feed stable and monitor it
Leave upload capacity in reserve
YouTube recommends upload bandwidth headroom of 20% above the stream’s bitrate. A connection that barely meets the encoding bitrate has little room for network variation. Dacast’s onward delivery does not remove the need for a stable encoder-to-Dacast connection or YouTube-side monitoring. See YouTube’s live-streaming network guidance.

Test before leaving the stream unattended
Start with a test, preview the destination, and check YouTube’s stream health. YouTube advises testing and monitoring, and warns that a network disruption can break a live stream. Decide in advance who will respond to a failed source or destination and how the encoder will reconnect; the cited Dacast material does not establish an automatic recovery guarantee for every configuration. YouTube’s setup and stream-health guidance is available at its live-streaming tips.
Archives, rights and other YouTube constraints
Do not rely on a complete archive of a stream longer than 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not promise a complete automatic archive for one continuous stream lasting longer than 12 hours. If you need a complete recording of a 24/7 feed, arrange separate recording or archiving and verify that it captures what you need. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

Use only content you have rights to stream
YouTube’s live-streaming terms make the content provider responsible for having the rights needed to use the live content, including applicable music licensing rights, and for complying with applicable laws and platform guidelines. Repeating a song, game soundtrack, broadcast clip or other third-party material does not remove that responsibility. Review YouTube’s Terms of Service and its applicable platform policies before running a feed unattended.

The available Dacast product material describes Simulcast, but does not establish current detailed pricing, plan entitlements or usage limits for this workflow. Check Dacast’s current plan terms directly and have support confirm the cost of your intended channel type, expected bandwidth and YouTube destination before committing. A feature listing alone is not enough to determine the cost of a continuous feed.
