That gives listeners an on-demand destination; it does not create a continuous 24/7 live broadcast. The distinction matters: YouTube documents the podcast-playlist workflow, but the cited guidance does not establish a native way to rotate existing episodes as a live stream.
Choose the format that matches what you mean by “radio”
| Format | What listeners get | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube podcast playlist | Your existing full-length episode videos arranged as a show for on-demand listening. YouTube may offer podcast-specific discovery and YouTube Music inclusion, subject to eligibility. | A continuously running live broadcast. A playlist is not itself a 24/7 live stream. |
| Live stream | A real-time broadcast that could, in principle, present episodes continuously. | The YouTube sources cited here do not confirm a native episode-rotation method. Live streams are scanned for third-party content and may be interrupted. |
YouTube describes a podcast as a playlist and its episodes as videos in that playlist. If your episodes already exist as YouTube videos, the podcast playlist is the documented route. If you specifically need an always-on live stream, do not treat podcast setup as a substitute.

Set an existing playlist as a YouTube podcast
- Open YouTube Studio. Choose Create → New podcast, then choose the option to set an existing playlist as a podcast. Alternatively, go to Content → Playlists, open the playlist’s options, and select Add podcast features.
- Review the podcast title, description, visibility, and thumbnail. Use the show’s real name and describe the program clearly; avoid generic titles such as “Full Episodes” or “New Uploads.” YouTube recommends a square 1280 × 1280 pixel thumbnail on the podcast details page.
- Check the playlist contents and order. Keep it focused on one show’s full-length episodes. Include seasons together rather than making a separate podcast for each season; do not mix in clips, another show, or videos from other channels.
- Choose an order that fits the show. YouTube’s setup guidance says episodic shows should run newest to oldest and serial shows oldest to newest. Its discovery tips advise ordering episodes as listeners should consume them. For a serial narrative, that means putting the first episode first; for a standalone episodic show, the newest-first order is the stated setup guidance.
- Save the changes, then review the podcast playlist as a viewer to confirm the title, artwork, visibility, episode selection, and order.

Create a new podcast using videos already on your channel
- In YouTube Studio, choose Create → New podcast and start a new podcast rather than designating an existing playlist.
- Enter the podcast’s title and description, set its visibility, and add the square thumbnail. YouTube recommends 1280 × 1280 pixels for the podcast artwork.
- Go to Content → Podcasts, open the podcast, and choose Add videos → Add your existing videos.
- Select the published episode videos you want, add them to the podcast playlist, and save. Check that the playlist contains full episodes from this show, not clips or unrelated material.
- Set the final order according to the format: episodic shows newest to oldest under YouTube’s setup guidance; serial shows oldest to newest. For serial listening, verify the first episode appears first.
YouTube’s podcast model requires episodes to be videos: you cannot turn an MP3 directly into a YouTube podcast episode. If you have audio files rather than published episode videos, this workflow does not by itself convert them into podcast episodes. YouTube also describes RSS-feed connection and distribution by some podcast hosts as another publishing route; it is not required when your episode videos are already on YouTube. Details: Create a podcast in YouTube Studio and Distribute podcasts on YouTube.
Check eligibility, rights, and discovery expectations
- Discovery is possible, not guaranteed. Podcast features may provide podcast badges, recommendations, search improvements, and potential inclusion in YouTube Music, but YouTube does not guarantee eligibility or those outcomes.
- Use content you own or are entitled to use. Playlists containing content the creator does not own may be ineligible for podcast features. Episodes must also comply with YouTube’s copyright policies.
- Keep the podcast playlist specific to one show. YouTube’s discovery guidance recommends one public podcast per show, with full-length episodes from all seasons. Avoid clips, mixed programs, and other channels’ videos.
- Separate playlist publishing from live broadcasting. If you choose a live approach instead, YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even licensed material may trigger interruption unless the rights holder allowlists your channel through Content ID. Confirm rights for episode audio, music, and other third-party material before broadcasting.
Podcast episodes remain subject to YouTube Community Guidelines and, if monetized, monetization policies. For live-stream copyright details, see YouTube Help.

If what you actually want is an always-on YouTube live stream made from uploaded episode videos, StreamNeo is a separate option—not a podcast-playlist feature. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer, OBS setup, or home internet connection has to stay on. It supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only; it is not the way to create a YouTube podcast playlist.
