Spike Chunsoft describes Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc as “the first game in the Danganronpa series.” The publisher says it was released for PSP in Japan on November 25, 2010. Spike Chunsoft’s announcement therefore establishes the order: start with Trigger Happy Havoc, then move on to Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.

What to know about Danganronpa 2×2
Spike Chunsoft announced Danganronpa 2×2 for release in North America and Europe on January 14, 2027. It includes the original Goodbye Despair scenario in refreshed form, alongside a separate new scenario based on that game with a different storyline. The new scenario is not the original game’s plot.
The announcement lists physical standard editions for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. Check current platform and retailer listings for availability; the announcement does not establish whether those editions are currently available to order.
