In an October 1, 2026 interview with Insider Gaming, Twisted II Studio developer Jakub Śliwiński describes the creative contrast behind the game, its inspirations and the small-team challenges that shaped development.
What is Dark Fracture about?
Players take the role of Edward, a night-shift worker at a body farm in the late 1990s. As his memories and surroundings blur, the facility connects to an alien realm called the Underworld. The game combines first-person exploration, physical puzzles and investigation into what lies behind that connection.

The body farm is designed to begin as a recognizable workplace, with the unsettling quality of its real-world setting doing some of the work before anything overtly impossible appears. The Underworld, by contrast, is biological and alien, and its purpose is not immediately clear. The mystery linking the two spaces is central to the experience, Śliwiński says.
What inspired the game’s horror and visual design?
Śliwiński identifies H. R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński as influences on the alien imagery, and H. P. Lovecraft as an influence on the fear of confronting something the human mind cannot fully understand. He also names Silent Hill, Visage and Scorn as important game references.

Those influences meet in the game’s contrast between an ordinary human environment and a world that resists easy explanation. Rather than making every space strange from the outset, the body farm’s grounded routine provides a point of comparison: the more familiar it feels, the more sharply its corruption can unsettle the player.
How long has Dark Fracture been in development?
Śliwiński said the full game had been in development for about five years at the time of the interview, published October 1, 2026. That is his approximate account of the project’s timeline, not an independently verified production history.
Before full production, the studio released Dark Fracture: Prologue. Śliwiński describes it as canon and set earlier in the story, but says it will remain a separate experience rather than being folded into the full game.
What challenges did the small team face?
Śliwiński says no more than three people worked on the game at once, and fewer than three for most of development. He describes a tendency to treat adding more features as proof that the game was improving. Some ambitious ideas helped, but others created unnecessary work, scope pressure and delays. Technical problems and console development also demanded substantial effort from the small team.

His takeaway was to prioritize and finish fewer ideas well: “The main lesson was learning to cut, prioritize and accept that a smaller number of ideas executed properly is better than a long list of unfinished features.”
Did the team have a moment when everything clicked?
Śliwiński says there was no single breakthrough. Instead, the game came together through many small decisions and fixes, as its environments, sound, story and gameplay increasingly supported the same atmosphere. He singles out the body farm as the feature he is most proud of, especially its starting point as a believable workplace routine.

What does the interview establish about release details?
The interview does not give a release date, supported platforms, price, age rating or purchase page. Its mention of console-development challenges does not establish which consoles, if any, will support the game. Those practical details remain unconfirmed by this source.
