To beat Darkdrift Knight—Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow—in ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN, stay close, dodge the ends of its spear combos, and use a lightning hit when it raises its spear for a holy slam. A heavy melee character can punish its recovery windows, but do not attack through an active combo. In the claw phase, roll into the wide sweeps and evade the ground-slam shockwave before counterattacking.
Before you enter the fight
Darkdrift Knight is a one-armed centaur whose fight combines spear attacks, fast movement and holy magic. The tactics below come from Method’s June 12, 2025 guide; the official sources cited here confirm the game’s broader systems, but do not independently document these move-by-move responses. Patch changes or in-game behavior may affect whether the tactics remain unchanged.

Choose a close-range approach
Method recommends high-impact melee characters such as Wylder or Raider. Its reasoning is that staying near Fulghor tends to draw close-range spear moves, which the guide considers easier to avoid. It also warns that wide-reaching attacks can punish ranged characters. This is a recommended approach, not a required team composition or a guarantee of success.
If you are playing with a team, Method identifies Recluse or Revenant as potential sources of lightning spells. You can also use a heavy lightning weapon hit for the opening described below; the guide does not establish a required weapon, spell, or exact damage threshold.

Account for expedition structure and solo play
An expedition has two exploration days with mandatory nighttime boss encounters, followed by a Nightlord showdown on the third day. The official starter guide says enemy HP is scaled down during solo play. The game supports solo and co-op modes, so choose the format that suits your run rather than treating a particular party size as a requirement for this fight.
How to handle Fulghor’s spear attacks
Triple spear swipe
Fulghor can perform three spear swipes, ending either with a wide sweep or a delayed dragging hit. Do not swing into the sequence. Wait through the second swipe, then time your dodge for the finishing attack; once the move ends, use the recovery to land a hit before resetting your position.
Raised spear and holy ground slam
When Fulghor raises its spear, glowing runes appear and spears erupt beneath players and across the arena. Method recommends landing a charged lightning strike or a heavy hit from a lightning weapon at this point. A successful hit can break Fulghor’s stance and interrupt the more dangerous follow-up sequence.
An interruption does not necessarily end the threat: Fulghor may still make a follow-up slam. Keep watching its movement and be ready to dodge rather than assuming the stance break makes you safe. If you fail to interrupt the sequence, Method says Fulghor can sprint around the arena two or three times and create fissures that erupt with holy energy. Treat the raised-spear cue as an opportunity to stop that escalation when possible, not as a reason to ignore the arena.

How to survive the claw phase
Wide claw sweeps
Fulghor’s transformed claw attacks are fast and wide, and can chain into spear attacks or jumping slams. Method recommends rolling toward Fulghor through the claw sweeps rather than retreating away from them. Avoid committing to an attack until you can tell whether the sweep is chaining into another move.
Claw jump slam and shockwave
The claw ground slam has a delayed windup and creates a circular shockwave when it lands. Roll through the impact or jump as the claw hits, then counterattack while Fulghor remains stationary in its recovery. If the evade leaves you close enough for a safe hit, use that opening before it resumes its attacks.
Standard Darkdrift Knight versus Everdark Sovereign
The Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight is not simply the same encounter with a different label. Bandai Namco describes Everdark Sovereigns as stronger, more challenging Nightlord forms with new moves and increased power, and its June 18, 2025 announcement included Darkdrift Knight among them. The announcement described a limited-time appearance; those 2025 dates are historical, not a current schedule. Check the game’s current expedition listing for present availability.
The move advice above is drawn from Method’s guide to Darkdrift Knight. Do not assume every response applies unchanged to the stronger Everdark variant, whose new moves and increased power may alter the fight. No boss-specific win rate, damage total, stagger threshold, recommended level, or weakness multiplier is established by the cited material.
