Dead by Daylight does not have an official cheat-code system. Behaviour prohibits software or other methods that alter saves, progression, or cosmetics, but it does provide legitimate promotional codes and in-game progression routes. As of October 13, 2026, two codes were being reported by a third-party roundup: MACHETE for a charm through October 31, 2026, and ROADTRIP for a Dark Bomber cosmetic through October 2027. Code availability can change, so test each one promptly in the game.
Cheats, promotional codes and unlockables are different things
Searches for “Dead by Daylight cheats” often combine three unrelated ideas:

- Cheats and hacks: third-party software, save-file changes, exploits or unofficial methods intended to alter game progress or gain an unfair advantage. Behaviour’s rules prohibit this conduct. They also prohibit obtaining cosmetics through unofficial means.
- Promotional codes: strings distributed by Behaviour or its partners that are entered through the game’s Store. A code may grant a charm, outfit, cosmetic item or another listed reward.
- Unlockables: rewards earned through the normal game, such as perk tiers obtained by prestiging a character, temporary event rewards and Twitch Drops.
A promotional code is not permission to modify the game. Enter only codes from a credible official announcement or a clearly identified current report, and never install a cheat program that asks for your account credentials or game files.
Dead by Daylight codes reported for October 2026
The table below records the status reported on October 13, 2026. The official support material explains how to redeem codes but does not publish a live inventory of working codes. The dates therefore describe the third-party report, not a guarantee from Behaviour.

Codes are case-sensitive in some interfaces, so enter the characters exactly as shown. Do not add spaces before or after the code. If a code is announced for a specific platform, region or event, those conditions can also affect eligibility; the October 13 report did not establish additional restrictions for these two strings.
How to redeem a DBD code in the game
Use the built-in Store flow rather than a website that asks you to sign in. Behaviour’s official support instructions use these labels:
- Launch Dead by Daylight and wait until the main menu has loaded.
- Open Store.
- Select the Featured section.
- Choose Redeem in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
- Enter the promotional code and submit it.
- Open your inventory or the relevant customization screen to confirm that the reward has been added.
There is no need to spend Bloodpoints or Iridescent Shards to redeem a promotional code. If the reward is a charm or cosmetic, it may be placed in the appropriate customization category rather than displayed as a pop-up for an extended period.
What a redemption error means
An error does not necessarily mean that you typed the code incorrectly. Check the likely causes in this order:
- Expired code: limited-time strings stop working after their campaign closes. A reported deadline is not a promise that the code will remain active until the final minute.
- Reward already owned: the support instructions identify an item already in your inventory as another reason redemption can fail. Check charms, outfits and other cosmetic categories before trying repeatedly.
- Typing or formatting error: remove accidental spaces, compare similar-looking characters and paste the code into the in-game field rather than a chat window.
- Temporary service issue: restart the game and try again after confirming that the title has connected to its online services. Do not repeatedly submit a code during a connection outage.
- Unverified listing: community pages can retain old strings or misstate a reward. If a code is not confirmed by an official announcement or a current in-game result, treat it as unverified.
If the game accepts the code but the item is not visible, close and relaunch the title, then inspect the correct character, charm or customization inventory. Keep a screenshot of the redemption result if you need to contact Behaviour support.
Why cheat software and unofficial cosmetics are a bad shortcut
Behaviour’s rules describe third-party software and other methods used to cheat save files or game progress as prohibited. The same rules prohibit acquiring cosmetics through unofficial means. That covers more than an obvious “god mode” program: modified clients, injected files, manipulated save data and services that promise to add paid or event cosmetics outside the game can all put an account at risk.
Unofficial downloads also create practical security problems. A program advertised as a code generator may instead capture your login details, install malware or modify files in a way that produces a ban or a broken installation. Never provide a Behaviour, console or platform password to a code site, and do not disable security software to run a supposed unlocker. Legitimate rewards arrive through the game’s Store redemption screen, an official event, an approved Twitch campaign or normal progression.

Behaviour’s July 2022 progression update changed how character prestige works. The first three prestige levels for a selected Killer or Survivor unlock that character’s perk tiers across the other characters in the same role. This is a progression system, not a cheat and not a redeemable code.
What the first three levels do
- Prestige 1: makes the character’s first perk tier available on the other relevant characters.
- Prestige 2: unlocks the second tier across those characters.
- Prestige 3: unlocks the third tier across those characters.
The update also states that prestiging no longer removes perks, items, offerings or add-ons. Older guides that warn you will lose those contents describe the previous system and should not be used as a current cost or reset guide. Behaviour can still revise progression in later patches, so check the patch notes when planning a long grind rather than relying on an old Bloodpoint table.
How to use prestige efficiently
- Choose the Killer or Survivor whose perks you want to spread to the rest of that role.
- Play that character and spend Bloodpoints in the Bloodweb until the prestige requirement shown by the current game client is met.
- Confirm the prestige action on the character screen.
- Open another character’s loadout and check the relevant perk tier before investing more Bloodpoints there.
This approach gives a permanent, account-based progression benefit without risking a rule violation. It does not instantly unlock every character, teach teachable perks from one role to the other, or bypass paid DLC ownership requirements.
Use temporary modes to practise outside normal loadouts
Behaviour’s July 2026 Summer Screams announcement describes two mode-specific rule sets. They are useful for practice and variety, but they are not permanent cheats and are not guaranteed to be available after the event period.
Chaos Shuffle
Chaos Shuffle randomizes perks, Survivor items and add-ons. The announcement says perks are supplied at Level 3. Because your normal build is replaced, the mode is useful for learning unfamiliar perk interactions, adapting to teammates’ random tools and practising decision-making without falling back on a rehearsed loadout.

Lights Out
Lights Out removes perks, the HUD, the Terror Radius and Scratch Marks. These rules change how information is gathered: you cannot depend on perk notifications, the usual interface, the warning audio or visible trail marks. Treat the mode as a limited event format. Its rules do not change standard matches, and event timing can change between announcements.
When a mode disappears, do not install a modification that tries to recreate it in ordinary matchmaking. Wait for an official return or use a private practice plan that stays within the game’s rules.

The Official Stats Tracker records kills, escapes, perk use, character performance and other match-history information. Its page says broad statistics refresh daily at approximately 10:30 UTC, while recent match history updates after each match.
A practical review routine
- After a session, check recent match history to separate a short losing streak from a longer pattern.
- Compare your Killers’ performance rather than judging every match by a single result.
- Look at perk use to identify builds you understand and builds that are rarely contributing.
- Use the results to choose which character to prestige or which perk interaction to practise next.
Daily aggregate numbers may lag until the stated refresh time, so a match played moments ago can appear in recent history before it affects a daily total. The tracker is a diagnostic tool; it does not award currencies or unlock cosmetics by itself.
Claim limited rewards through Twitch Drops
Behaviour’s Twitch Drops instructions describe a campaign running from October 1 through November 1, 2026, across the PC and console platforms listed on that campaign page. To participate, link your Twitch account and your Behaviour account for the relevant platform, watch eligible streams during the campaign and claim the reward through Twitch when it becomes available. The instructions say claimed rewards are added to your in-game inventory.
Linking must be completed before you expect a drop to arrive. If a reward is claimed but missing, verify that the correct platform account is connected, relaunch the game and inspect the relevant inventory category. Recheck the campaign instructions after November 1, 2026: event windows close, and a later campaign may use different requirements or rewards.
Other legitimate unlockable sources
Official announcements and in-game events
Behaviour may distribute codes, cosmetics or event access through official social posts, livestreams and in-game campaigns. Because the official support page explains redemption mechanics rather than listing every active code, confirm a newly announced string in the game and note its publication date. A code copied from an old guide can remain visible long after its reward has been retired.

Normal account progression
Perks, character experience and other progression rewards should be earned through the current game systems. The prestige update is the clearest documented route for extending perk access across characters, while temporary modes provide practice under unusual restrictions rather than permanent items.
Physical tabletop products
A physical Dead by Daylight board game is a related tabletop product, not a videogame unlock method. Its edition, stock and retailer availability can change, so purchasing the board game should not be presented as a way to obtain in-game codes unless a specific, current product listing explicitly includes such a promotion.
How to keep a code list accurate
Code pages age quickly. Use this checklist whenever you see a new entry:
- Record the date the code was announced or last checked.
- Distinguish an official announcement from a third-party report.
- Copy the code exactly, including capitalization and numbers.
- Test it through Store → Featured → Redeem rather than trusting a “working” label.
- Remove entries that return an expiry or already-owned error, and keep the reason beside the date.
- Never download a file or enter a password to “activate” a code.
For the October 2026 entries listed above, the safest expectation is that MACHETE may stop working after October 31 and that ROADTRIP has a reported window extending into October 2027. Neither date replaces an in-game confirmation.

What to do first
Open the game and try MACHETE and ROADTRIP through Store → Featured → Redeem, understanding that both statuses come from a dated third-party report rather than an official live list. If either fails, check expiry and inventory ownership before assuming the game is broken. For lasting progress, use prestige to distribute perk tiers, review your match history after each session and watch official event announcements for time-limited rewards. Those routes provide unlocks without risking a suspension, corrupted files or stolen account details.
