Yes—the PS5 remake of Dead Space supports both DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive trigger effects. PlayStation specifically describes haptics for weapon firing, asteroid impacts on the ship, and attacks by Necromorphs. The PS5 Store listing also confirms that you can play with controller vibration (including haptic feedback) and adaptive trigger effects disabled. The evidence establishes these features for the PS5 version; it does not establish equivalent support for the PC version.
What DualSense features does the PS5 remake support?
The remake uses the two signature features of Sony’s DualSense controller:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Haptic feedback: more detailed vibration effects that can communicate different impacts and events through the controller.
- Adaptive trigger effects: resistance in the L2 and R2 triggers that can change how the buttons feel when pressed.
These are game-specific effects rather than a generic claim that the controller merely works with the game. PlayStation’s launch feature article presents them as part of the PS5 version’s design, allowing physical feedback to accompany what Isaac experiences on screen.

PlayStation describes haptic feedback for three concrete situations:
#1 Best Overall
- Haptic feedback - Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions with dual actuators which replace traditional rumble motors. In your hands, these dynamic vibrations can simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons. .Operating temperature : 41 °F to 95 °F (5 °C to 35 °C)
- Adaptive triggers - Experience varying levels of force and tension as you interact with your in-game gear and environments. From pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring to hitting the brakes on a speeding car, feel physically connected to your on-screen actions.
- Built-in microphone and headset jack - Chat with friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5mm jack. Easily switch voice capture on and off at a moment’s notice with the dedicated mute button. Internet and account for PlayStation Network required.
- DualSense Controller PS5 and PC compatible. Not compatible with PS4.
- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
- Weapon firing: shots produce physical feedback as Isaac uses his weapons.
- Asteroid impacts: collisions with the ship are represented through the controller.
- Necromorph attacks: hostile attacks can be felt through the DualSense.
The official wording is that “haptic feedback lets players feel the impact as Isaac would.” That description does not mean every sound or animation has a separate effect, nor does it provide a numerical intensity rating. It confirms the intended relationship between major in-game impacts and the controller.
What adaptive triggers add
Adaptive triggers alter the resistance of the controller’s triggers while you play. The official material confirms that Dead Space supports adaptive trigger effects, but it does not catalog a separate resistance pattern for every weapon, action, or event. You should therefore expect trigger feedback as part of the PS5 control experience without assuming a particular effect that has not been documented.
PS5 and PC: what is actually confirmed?
Platform matters because DualSense support is not automatically identical across console and computer versions. The official evidence directly describes the PS5 remake and its controller options. It does not confirm that the PC release provides the same native haptics or adaptive trigger behavior.

Community reports about PC controllers can vary with the game build, operating-system settings, connection method, and driver behavior. They are not enough to turn the unresolved PC question into a definitive compatibility claim. If PC DualSense effects are your deciding factor, treat them as unconfirmed until an official PC-specific statement or documentation addresses them.

How to use the DualSense features on PS5
You do not need a special adapter, replacement part, or additional tool to access the documented effects. The relevant hardware is a standard Sony DualSense wireless controller used with the PS5 version.
- Connect a DualSense to the PS5. Pair or connect the controller using the normal PS5 process, then make sure it is the active controller before starting the game.
- Launch the PS5 remake. The documented haptic and adaptive-trigger behavior belongs to the PS5 edition, not merely to any copy of the game running somewhere.
- Keep controller effects enabled while testing. If you want to experience the feature set, do not select the accessibility options that remove controller vibration or adaptive trigger effects.
- Play through an affected situation. Weapon firing, an asteroid impact on the ship, and a Necromorph attack are the examples PlayStation identifies for haptic feedback. These provide a more meaningful test than pressing buttons in a menu.
- Check the controller itself if nothing is felt. Confirm that the DualSense is connected and responsive. Then check whether vibration or trigger effects have been disabled in the game or at the system level.
The available official information does not establish a precise in-game menu path for changing these options. Avoid relying on a guessed label or location; use the accessibility and controller sections shown by your installed version of the game and console software.
Can you turn haptics and adaptive triggers off?
Yes. The US PlayStation Store listing explicitly identifies two accessibility options:
- Playable without Controller Vibration — supports playing without controller vibration, including the haptic feedback described for the game.
- Playable without Adaptive Trigger Effect — supports playing without adaptive resistance in the triggers.
These listings establish that both effects are optional. They do not establish that the two controls must be changed together. In practical terms, players who dislike vibration can use the no-vibration option, while players who want ordinary trigger travel can use the no-adaptive-trigger option. The listing does not provide a specific sequence of menus, so the exact route can depend on the game’s displayed accessibility interface and software version.

- Feel you in-game actions and environement simulated through haptic feedback
- Experience varying force and tension at your fingertips with adaptive triggers
- Chat online through the built-in microphone
- Connect a headset directly via the 3.5mm jack
- Switch voice capture on and off using the dedicated mute button
Why disable them?
Some players prefer no physical feedback because vibration is distracting, uncomfortable, or difficult to perceive consistently. Others may want to avoid trigger resistance for accessibility reasons or simply because they prefer a light, uniform trigger press. Disabling an effect changes the controller response; it does not remove the associated weapon, impact, or attack from the game.
What to check if the effects are missing
If you are playing the PS5 remake with a DualSense but feel no haptics or trigger resistance, work through these checks in order:
- Verify the platform and edition. The confirmed feature description applies to the PS5 remake. Do not use the PC version as a test of PS5 support.
- Confirm the controller connection. Make sure the DualSense is paired with the PS5 and that ordinary input works. A controller that is only partially connected cannot be used to judge feature support.
- Review the game’s accessibility options. Look for the options named “Playable without Controller Vibration” and “Playable without Adaptive Trigger Effect.” If either is enabled, the corresponding effect is intentionally suppressed.
- Check console-level controller settings. System settings can affect how a controller feels. If vibration or trigger effects have been disabled outside the game, restore them before testing again.
- Test more than one documented situation. PlayStation cites weapon firing, asteroid impacts, and Necromorph attacks. A single quiet stretch of gameplay is not a reliable test.
- Reconnect and retest. If the controller works but effects remain absent, reconnect it and repeat the test after confirming the options above.
The official sources do not identify a unique failure code, firmware requirement, cable requirement, or intensity value for these effects. Consequently, there is no evidence-based reason to promise that a particular cable, accessory, or numerical setting will restore them.
Does the PC version support PS5 controller features?
The available official information does not answer that question. PlayStation’s feature article describes the PS5 version, and the PlayStation Store accessibility text is also for the PS5 listing. Neither source establishes native haptic feedback or adaptive trigger effects on PC.

A DualSense may still function as an ordinary input device on a computer, but ordinary button compatibility is not the same as confirmed game-specific haptics and adaptive resistance. The PC question should remain open rather than being answered with a blanket yes or no based on unverified community posts.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need to buy a special controller?
For the documented PS5 experience, the relevant controller is a standard Sony DualSense wireless controller. No additional accessory, replacement component, or tool is identified as necessary. If you already have a working DualSense, there is no stated hardware upgrade required to use the supported effects.
If you do not own one, availability and price are not established here, so check current local listings before purchasing. Buying a controller solely for PC haptics would be premature because PC-specific support is not confirmed by the official material.

Does every weapon have a unique haptic pattern?
That level of detail is not stated. The official description confirms weapon-firing feedback as an example, but it does not document a separate pattern for every weapon.

Are asteroid impacts and Necromorph attacks adaptive-trigger effects?
PlayStation names those events when describing haptic feedback. It does not assign each example to a particular trigger-resistance behavior, so they should not be presented as documented adaptive-trigger mappings.
Can I play the entire game without these effects?
Yes. The PS5 Store listing says the game is playable without controller vibration and without adaptive trigger effects. Those statements support disabling both categories for play.
Is DualSense support confirmed on PC?
No definitive PC confirmation is established by the official sources covered here. The documented support is for PS5.
