Baba is best understood by what her kit asks you to do: build a conditional Spirit-damage window, use mobility and melee disruption to shape close fights, and choose among three rotating area effects. Her ultimate adds powerful-looking single-target control, but requires a long channel. No current source establishes one objectively closest hero or a universal best replacement, so compare picks by the job you want them to do—not by an unsupported ranking.
What Baba does in a match
Deadlock Labs reported Baba unlocked on October 6, 2026. Her documented kit combines Spirit damage and Spirit theft, movement and melee disruption, flexible area utility, and a channelled ultimate. The values below are those reported by the secondary overview published October 7, 2026; they are not independent tests and may change with patches. deadlock.one
Threadsap: damage with a setup condition
Threadsap sends a thread along the crosshair path, dealing Spirit damage and stealing an enemy’s Spirit Power. While Baba holds stolen Spirit Power, her bullets deal bonus Spirit damage. The overview lists a 35-meter range, 50 damage, a 26-second cooldown, and up to 45 Spirit stolen. The important tradeoff is that the bonus bullet damage depends on holding stolen Spirit Power; it is not a permanent passive.
Granny Long Legs: movement into melee disruption
This ability grants movement speed, higher jumps, debuff resistance, and melee resistance. Its light melee knocks targets back; its heavy melee launches and slows them while dealing Spirit damage. The overview lists +5 m/s movement speed, +30% debuff resistance, and +30% melee resistance for the ability’s duration. The movement tools support repositioning, while the melee effects ask Baba to engage at close range.

Baba’s Brew: three possible area effects
The thrown brew cycles among a soothing barrier, a silence, and a scalding damage-over-time effect that also reduces Spirit resistance. The overview lists a 6-meter base radius and a 25-second cooldown. That gives Baba defensive, control, or damage utility, but the effect depends on the brew’s current state when applied. The overview says players can pause or resume brewing; it does not establish a specific timing strategy.
Feed The Birds: control with a long channel
Baba covers a target in bread during a channel, applying stacking slow. When the channel ends, pigeons deal Spirit damage and hex the target into a pigeon. The overview lists a 6.5-second channel, up to 450 base damage, and a 150-second cooldown. That is a substantial commitment for a single-target control tool. The published mechanics do not establish how often opponents can interrupt or evade it in actual matches.

Strengths
- Layered Spirit pressure: Threadsap combines Spirit damage and Spirit Power theft, then enables bonus Spirit damage on bullets while Baba holds the stolen power.
- Mobility and disruption: Granny Long Legs adds movement and jump height, with melee effects that can knock back or launch and slow targets.
- Adaptable area utility: Baba’s Brew can provide a barrier, silence, or damage over time with reduced Spirit resistance, depending on its cycle.
- Potentially high-impact target control: Feed The Birds stacks slow before its hex, though its channel makes commitment part of the choice.
Tradeoffs
- Threadsap’s bullet bonus is conditional, so its value depends on first stealing and continuing to hold Spirit Power.
- The brew’s three outcomes rotate, so the desired effect may not be available at the moment it is needed.
- Feed The Birds’ listed channel and cooldown are significant costs. No verified interruption or hit-rate data is available to quantify its reliability.
- Granny Long Legs’ melee disruption is close-range, so Baba’s mobility does not make every part of her kit safe to use from a distance.
How to compare Baba with similar heroes
No available source provides a reliable, current direct kit comparison between Baba and named alternatives. Avoid treating an analytics matchup table as proof that a hero is her closest analogue: those tables are observational and do not show that a pairing caused a win-rate difference. Instead, compare the candidate heroes on the same practical axes.

What early performance numbers can—and cannot—tell you
Early statistics are provisional, especially for a newly unlocked hero. The two available snapshots cover different populations and sample sizes, so they should not be averaged or treated as directly conflicting evidence.

Who should pick Baba?
Baba is a reasonable candidate if you want to combine Spirit-based pressure, conditional bullet damage, flexible area utility, mobility, and disruptive melee options. Before choosing her over another hero, decide whether that mix fits the way you want to fight—particularly whether you value the conditional damage window and are comfortable committing to a long channel for Feed The Birds.
The available evidence does not establish one universal best alternative, replacement, or counter. A Valve developer note dated January 30, 2026 said hero avoidance was added for Standard Mode and Street Brawl, with two total bans initially, and that new heroes were excluded during their initial release window.
