Deep Rock Galactic has no documented conventional cheat-code list for the Live game. The built-in exception is a Cheats terminal on the Experimental Branch, intended for testing; progress made there does not transfer to Live. For normal missions, the useful advantage comes from understanding each class, choosing a build for the mission, and checking a mod’s category before installing it.

Are there cheat codes in Deep Rock Galactic?

Not in the conventional sense for the Live build. There is no supported set of typed codes that grants permanent credits, experience, minerals, weapons, or class levels in ordinary Live sessions. Pages that present a universal code list should be treated skeptically unless they identify a current, official feature and the branch on which it works.

The documented built-in cheat-like feature is a Cheats terminal on the Experimental Branch. It is a testing tool rather than a Live-game shortcut. Its listed functions include adding XP, credits, and resources, allowing developers and testers to set up situations quickly. The branch is separate from normal progression: Experimental progress does not transfer to Live.

Game environment What is documented Progress result
Live branch No conventional built-in cheat-code list is documented. Normal progression and multiplayer rules apply.
Experimental Branch A Cheats terminal can add XP, credits, and resources for testing. Progress made there does not transfer to Live.

This distinction matters if you are trying to unlock a promotion, prepare a Deep Dive, or earn materials for a regular save. A test-branch credit or XP change is not a faster route to Live progression; it is confined to the branch where it was made.

How to use the Experimental Cheats terminal safely

The terminal belongs to the Experimental Branch, so first make sure you have launched that branch rather than the standard Live build. Branch availability and the exact launcher controls can change by platform. Once you are in an Experimental session, use the documented Cheats terminal and select only the test resource or XP change you need.

  1. Start the Experimental Branch. Confirm the branch name in your launcher or game entry before beginning a test session.
  2. Find the Cheats terminal. It is an in-game testing feature on that branch, not a command that is entered in a Live mission.
  3. Choose a test adjustment. The documented options include XP, credits, and resources. Use them to set up a controlled test rather than to simulate a Live unlock.
  4. Keep the branch distinction clear. Do not assume the resulting levels, currency, or materials will appear when you return to Live; Experimental progress is separate.
  5. Return to Live for real progression. Launch the normal branch when you want your standard save, regular matchmaking, promotions, and Live rewards.

If the terminal is missing, the most likely explanations are that the game was launched in Live, the branch changed, or the feature was altered in a later build. Check the current branch label and current game documentation instead of trying random console commands.

What about trainers and downloadable cheat software?

A third-party Windows trainer listing advertises player and inventory modifications, but it also says that version support can vary. That is fundamentally different from an official game feature. A trainer may stop working after an update, affect only a particular executable, or conflict with multiplayer and anti-cheat protections.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not treat a trainer’s feature list as proof that it works with the current build. Before running any third-party executable, consider the risks:

  • Version mismatch: a trainer made for one game build may fail or behave unpredictably after an update.
  • Save and account risk: altering inventory or progression can produce inconsistent data and may violate the rules of a server or group.
  • Multiplayer problems: a local modification can cause desynchronization, disconnects, or a ban from a server that disallows it.
  • Security risk: an unofficial executable has to be trusted independently of the game and its developer.
  • Unsupported recovery: if a change damages a save or profile, the game’s normal support path may not cover it.

For those reasons, describe trainers as third-party software, never as official cheat codes, and do not promise compatibility with a specific current version without a fresh check.

How Deep Rock Galactic categorizes mods

The game’s modding documentation separates mods into Verified, Approved, and Sandbox categories. The category determines how a mod interacts with regular play, rewards, and multiplayer. Check the current category and rules every time you install or update a mod; a label is more useful than a generic claim that a mod is “safe.”

Category Documented purpose or compatibility Progression and multiplayer consideration
Verified Described as compatible with regular play and joining other players. Designed for ordinary play under the stated mod rules.
Approved Recognized by the mod system but subject to restrictions. Check the current restrictions before joining others or earning rewards.
Sandbox Includes changes such as reward or payout adjustments and direct in-game item unlocks. Restricted from ordinary progression or multiplayer situations under the current rules.

Reward changes and direct item unlocks are specifically described as Sandbox behavior. That makes Sandbox the wrong category to recommend as a Live-progression shortcut. If your goal is to play with friends in regular sessions, verify that the mod is allowed for that session and that its category permits the progression you expect.

Practical class tips that work without cheats

Class advice is role guidance, not a guaranteed build. Community recommendations can become outdated as weapons, enemies, and mission balance change. Compare your weapon and ammunition trade-offs with the mission type, hazard level, terrain, and team composition instead of copying a build blindly.

Driller: shape the cave and control grounded swarms

Driller’s drills are a terrain tool as much as a weapon. Use them to open routes, connect rooms, create shortcuts, and reshape an awkward fight into space your team can defend. A short tunnel can provide a safer retreat, while a carefully cut route can save time when the objective is separated from the drop pod path.

The class’s weapons are particularly suited to crowd control and status effects against grounded swarms. That makes Driller valuable when enemies are clustered or when the team needs breathing room around an objective. The trade-off is matchup: distant or high-health enemies can be less comfortable targets. Keep sight lines and ammunition in mind, and coordinate with a teammate who can handle threats outside Driller’s preferred range.

  • Use drills to solve traversal and positioning problems before a swarm begins.
  • Fight where your area damage can reach several grounded enemies at once.
  • Do not assume crowd control replaces a plan for distant or high-health targets.

Engineer: build a defended area

Engineer combines sentries, platforms, and weapons that can lock down a useful position. Set sentries where they can cover an approach without forcing teammates to stand in the line of fire, then use platforms to give the team firing positions or access to high resources. During holdout phases, a prepared area can make the difference between controlled target selection and a scramble.

Ammo is the central constraint. Engineer’s weapons can consume ammunition quickly, and some options have range limitations. Avoid spending every shot on low-priority targets when a sentry or teammate can finish them. Platform placement also needs communication: a platform that helps a Scout reach minerals is useful, while one placed without a route in mind can leave the team climbing awkwardly or wasting time.

  • Place sentries to cover likely enemy paths and the objective area.
  • Use platforms for both resource access and stable defensive positions.
  • Track ammunition early; high damage output is not free.
  • Coordinate platform requests with the Scout rather than placing them at random.

Gunner: sustained fire and team protection

Gunner is the team’s sustained-fire anchor. The class is built to keep pressure on a swarm while protecting teammates who are reviving, mining, or completing an objective. The Lead Storm minigun is highlighted for its firepower, but that output still requires heat and ammunition management.

Watch the weapon’s heat and switch to a sidearm when continuing to fire would leave you unable to respond. Save your strongest sustained-fire window for dangerous groups or priority targets rather than emptying the magazine into enemies another class is already controlling. Gunner’s value is not just damage on a scoreboard; it is the time and safety that damage gives the rest of the team.

  • Use sustained fire to stabilize a fight, especially around a downed teammate or objective.
  • Manage heat deliberately and use sidearms when the primary weapon needs a reset.
  • Focus fire on dangerous targets instead of trying to cover every enemy alone.

Scout: light, mobility, and priority targets

Scout changes how quickly a team can understand a large cave. Prioritize lighting and navigation so miners can see mineral veins, threats, and escape routes. Mobility lets Scout reach hard-to-access minerals and investigate distant rooms before the team commits to a route.

Scout is also well suited to dangerous priority targets. The class can reach a threat that is isolated or above the main swarm, but it is not designed to out-clear a dense swarm alone. Use movement to create angles, then return to the team rather than trying to replace the team’s area damage.

Scout synergizes especially well with Engineer platforms: Engineer creates a surface at a difficult mineral vein, and Scout uses mobility to reach it quickly. Call out lighting needs and mineral locations so the team benefits from the information rather than splitting into four separate searches.

  • Light large caves before the team starts mining or fighting in them.
  • Use mobility for high or distant minerals and dangerous priority targets.
  • Do not attempt to solo-clear a dense swarm when the team needs your navigation and target access.
  • Coordinate with Engineer for platform-assisted mineral collection.

How to choose a build without relying on a code

There is no single all-purpose setup that removes the need to adapt. Evaluate every proposed build against four questions:

  1. What does it spend? Compare ammunition consumption, reload or heat demands, and how often the build can contribute before resupplying.
  2. What does it control? Decide whether the setup is better at crowd control, single-target damage, or a mixture of both.
  3. What utility does the team lose? Traversal, visibility, platforms, drills, and defensive tools can be more important than a small damage increase.
  4. What is the mission asking for? Tight tunnels, open caves, long travel, holdout phases, and high hazards reward different trade-offs.

Use that framework to compare weapons and overclocks after considering the whole team. A crowd-control-heavy Driller may need a teammate who can handle distant enemies. An Engineer who spends heavily on sentry ammunition may need the Gunner to cover the next wave. A Scout who focuses on priority targets should still keep the cave readable with light. The strongest choice is the one that covers a team weakness without creating an ammunition or range problem elsewhere.

Promotion and Deep Dives: progression, not cheating

Promotion is the game’s prestige-style progression step after a class reaches its maximum level. It is a legitimate milestone, not a cheat command. Promotion documentation states that a first promotion unlocks Deep Dives, so players pursuing that content should plan around leveling and promoting the relevant class in Live rather than trying to reproduce the result with a test-branch adjustment.

  • Dwarves

Because Experimental XP and resources do not transfer to Live, the Cheats terminal cannot substitute for the promotion process in your standard progression. Use the terminal only when you are testing a setup on Experimental; use normal missions and the documented promotion path for an account that will participate in Live content.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Mistake: treating an Experimental feature as a Live code

Fix: verify the branch before using the Cheats terminal and remember that its progress is isolated.

Mistake: installing a Sandbox mod for ordinary rewards

Fix: check the mod category first. Reward changes and direct item unlocks are described as Sandbox behavior, which carries restrictions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mistake: assuming every trainer supports the current build

Fix: treat version support as unconfirmed unless the publisher has verified the exact game version. Avoid using unofficial software in multiplayer.

Mistake: copying a class build without checking the mission

Fix: compare crowd control, single-target damage, ammunition use, range, traversal, and visibility against the actual cave and hazard.

Mistake: expecting one class to cover every job

Fix: divide responsibilities. Driller shapes terrain and controls grounded swarms; Engineer establishes defended areas; Gunner supplies sustained fire and protection; Scout handles light, mobility, minerals, and priority targets.

Bottom line for players searching for “Deep Rock Galactic cheats”

For the Live game, do not expect a conventional cheat-code catalog. The documented Cheats terminal is an Experimental Branch testing feature, and its XP, credits, and resource changes do not carry into Live. Third-party trainers are unofficial and version-dependent, while mods must be judged by their Verified, Approved, or Sandbox category and its current restrictions. If you want a reliable advantage, build around each class’s role, adapt ammunition and utility to the mission, and use normal Live progression for promotions and Deep Dives.
