Yes—Delta is a free emulator on Apple devices that supports Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64 games, along with NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Nintendo DS. It is available through the App Store outside the European Union, while users in the EU are directed to AltStore PAL. Delta does not include Nintendo games: you install the emulator, then import compatible game files that you provide yourself.

What Delta is—and what it is not
Delta is an emulator library for iPhone, iPad, Apple-silicon Mac, and Apple Vision devices. It recreates the software environment needed to run games from several Nintendo systems, including:
- NES
- Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
- Game Boy
- Game Boy Color
- Game Boy Advance (GBA)
- Nintendo 64 (N64)
- Nintendo DS
The App Store listing identifies Testut Tech as the developer and says Delta requires iOS 14 or later on iPhone and iPad. The listing also identifies the app as free with in-app purchases. A free download does not mean that Delta supplies a commercial game library, however. Delta is the emulator; the game files are separate.

Where to download Delta
Your installation route depends on your location:
| Location | Official route described by Delta |
|---|---|
| Outside the European Union | Apple’s App Store |
| European Union | AltStore PAL |
That regional distinction matters because the App Store is not the universal installation route. Use the official Delta distribution instructions for your country rather than relying on an old sideloading guide. Availability, regional rules, and installation requirements can change.
Patreon-linked benefits and Delta beta distribution are separate from ordinary emulator use. Delta’s documentation describes ways to access those benefits through the App Store version or Delta beta distributed through AltStore PAL or AltStore Classic, but standard GBA and N64 gameplay should not be treated as requiring Patreon access or a beta build.
What you need before importing GBA or N64 games
After installing Delta, you need compatible game files. Delta’s official importing guide lists these formats for the two systems highlighted in this article:

Delta does not download or distribute Nintendo’s commercial games. Do not interpret installing Delta as permission to download copyrighted ROMs from an unauthorized website. The safest general approach is to use files made from cartridges or other game copies you legally own, while following the copyright and circumvention laws that apply where you live.
Importing a game file
- Obtain a compatible file through a lawful method.
- Save or transfer it to your iPhone or iPad using the Files app, AirDrop, cloud storage, or another method available on your device.
- Open Delta and use its import interface to select the file.
- Wait for the game to appear in Delta’s library, then tap it to launch it.
For cartridge owners who want a hardware-based backup workflow, Delta’s importing documentation points to tools such as GB Operator. A cartridge reader or dumper is a specialized accessory, not a source of free commercial games; its suitability depends on the cartridge type, the software used with it, and the laws in your jurisdiction.
Why GBA and N64 support are especially useful
GBA games are a natural fit for a phone because the system was designed around portable play. Delta’s touch controls can make short sessions convenient, and the app supports features such as save states, fast-forwarding, cheats, custom controller skins, and hold-button functionality.
N64 games are more demanding from a control-layout perspective. Many rely on an analog stick, a large set of face and shoulder buttons, or quick access to the Z trigger. Touch controls can work, but a physical controller is usually the more practical choice for extended N64 sessions. Delta’s release notes also document N64 rendering improvements, so the app has continued to receive system-specific maintenance; exact behavior can still vary by game, file, device, and Delta version.

Use a physical controller for N64
Delta supports controllers recognized by iOS, including Bluetooth and MFi controllers. Its documentation lists examples such as Xbox Wireless, Xbox Elite, Xbox Adaptive, PlayStation DualShock 4, PlayStation 5 DualSense, Nintendo Switch Pro, Joy-Con, and Nintendo Switch Online controllers. This is compatibility guidance, not an endorsement of any particular brand or model.
A Bluetooth game controller for iPhone is the most useful accessory recommendation for this setup. Before buying, check that the model explicitly supports your iPhone or iPad, uses a connection method your device accepts, has a suitable N64-style button layout, and can be returned if its fit or controls are poor. Delta can hide the touch controller skin when an external controller is connected, allowing the game to use the full screen, and you can customize mappings for each supported system.
Pair the controller with iOS first, then open Delta and check its controller settings. If a button is in the wrong place, create or edit the mapping for that system rather than assuming every controller uses the same layout. A controller that works with iOS is the relevant baseline; Delta cannot guarantee universal compatibility with every Bluetooth gamepad.
Saves: use ordinary saves and save states together
Delta supports both the save system built into a game and emulator save states. Its save-state tools include automatic save states, user-created states, locked states, and preview states. These features are useful when you need to stop at an inconvenient point, retry a difficult section, or preserve multiple moments in a game.

Save states should not completely replace ordinary in-game saves. Delta’s guide recommends normal game saves as the more reliable option. A good routine is:
- Save through the game’s own menu whenever possible.
- Use save states as a convenient secondary checkpoint.
- Keep important save states rather than overwriting every slot.
- Test a restored state before trusting it as your only copy.
This matters particularly when changing app versions, moving files between devices, or troubleshooting a game that does not behave normally after a state is restored.
Delta Sync across devices
Delta Sync can synchronize games, save files, skins, and BIOS files through Google Drive or Dropbox. It is useful if you play on more than one Apple device, but it should not be confused with a visible folder of ordinary game files that you can freely edit.

Delta’s documentation says that Delta files are not visible in Google Drive. It also warns that manually editing visible Dropbox files can cause data loss. In practice, avoid renaming, deleting, or rearranging synchronized data directly in Dropbox unless Delta’s documentation specifically tells you to do so. Keep an independent backup of important in-game saves when possible.

The game does not appear after importing
Confirm that the import finished and that the file has one of the formats Delta supports for the intended system. A GBA file and an N64 file are not interchangeable, even if both are commonly called ROMs.
The game refuses to launch
Delta’s troubleshooting guidance warns that corrupted or altered ROM files may fail to run. Verify the file’s integrity and try a clean, legally obtained backup. Some larger ROM hacks may require additional software, so a failure with a modified game does not necessarily mean the original system support is broken.
The controller connects but the controls are wrong
Check that iOS sees the controller, then review Delta’s per-system mapping. Different controller layouts can place the N64 analog stick, C buttons, Z trigger, and shoulder buttons in very different locations. Reassigning controls is often more useful than changing the emulator’s general settings.
A save state is missing or will not restore
Try the game’s ordinary in-game save first. Save states can be affected by a damaged game file, a changed file, an app update, or synchronization problems. Avoid manually editing synchronized Dropbox data, since Delta warns that doing so can cause data loss.

The official Delta release notes record version 1.7.3 on October 23, 2025, and describe earlier updates including N64 rendering work, iPad support, controller-case support, local multiplayer history, AirPlay, and per-game settings. The App Store version-history display presents a different date for the listed version. Because both Apple’s listing and Delta’s distribution routes can change, treat 1.7.3 as the version recorded in the checked sources—not as a guarantee that it remains the newest build when you read this.
For the same reason, check the current App Store or official Delta distribution page before troubleshooting a newly installed copy. Do not assume that a beta feature, Patreon benefit, or release-note item is present in every installation channel.
Is Delta worth using for GBA and N64?
For Apple-device owners who already have lawful game files, Delta is a convenient free starting point. GBA play works well with touch controls for many short sessions, while N64 is a stronger case for adding a physical controller. The app’s library support, customizable controls, save states, synchronization, and convenience features make it more capable than a bare emulator, but those features do not remove the need to manage your own game files and backups.
The simplest reliable setup is an iPhone or iPad running a supported iOS version, Delta from the correct regional distribution channel, legally obtained .gba, .n64, or .z64 files, and an iOS-compatible Bluetooth or MFi controller if N64 games are your priority.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Delta include GBA or N64 games?
No. Delta does not distribute Nintendo games. It provides the emulator, and users must import compatible game files they provide themselves. Delta’s documented formats include .gba for Game Boy Advance and .n64 or .z64 for Nintendo 64.
Where can I download Delta?
Outside the European Union, Delta’s official guide directs users to Apple’s App Store. Users in the European Union are directed to AltStore PAL. Check the current official distribution information because availability can change.
What controller works with Delta for N64 games?
Delta supports iOS-compatible Bluetooth and MFi controllers, including documented examples from Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo. Compatibility is not universal, so check iOS support and controller mappings before buying.
Are Delta save states reliable?
Yes. Delta supports automatic and manual save states, but its guide recommends ordinary in-game saves as more reliable. Use save states as a convenient second layer rather than your only backup.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Delta is a free Apple-device emulator with GBA and N64 support, but it does not include games. Download it through the correct regional channel, import your own compatible files, use ordinary in-game saves alongside save states, and consider an iOS-compatible Bluetooth controller for a much better N64 experience.
