To choose the Demon Prince’s second-phase attack, decide which demon to kill last: kill Demon in Pain last for the meteor variant, or Demon From Below last for the laser variant. The fight begins as a two-on-one and ends with the last surviving demon rising as the Demon Prince. Both first-phase demons and the Prince are reported as susceptible to bleed and immune to poison and frost.
Where to find the demons
The encounter is at the bottom of The Dreg Heap, down the hole at the end of the area, in front of the Earthen Peak Ruins Bonfire. It is part of The Ringed City DLC. Slave Knight Gael and Amnesiac Lapp are listed as nearby NPC summons, and the boss reward is the Soul of the Demon Prince. The location, summon, and reward details are reported by the community-maintained Dark Souls III Wiki.

How the fight works
Phase one: two demons
Demon From Below starts empowered and opens with a distant leap; Demon in Pain becomes empowered shortly afterward. The two alternate between aggressive and less active states, so the encounter’s pressure shifts as you manage both opponents. Reported moves include claw swipes, an uppercut, an overhead smash, and an empowered leap-and-slash sequence. In a burnout state, a demon can use toxic attacks. Keep track of both demons rather than focusing so hard on one that the other catches you from outside your view.
Defeating one demon does not end the fight. The last one killed rises with a fire shockwave and becomes the Demon Prince, beginning phase two.

Phase two: the Demon Prince
The Prince is a solo opponent, but the first-phase kill order determines which distinctive attack pattern appears. The two variants are not established as having a universal difficulty ranking; choose based on which attack pattern you would rather manage.

These attack descriptions and the link between kill order and variant are community-wiki reports. The meteor sequence is not a guaranteed safe opening, and the laser’s lava means a beam ending does not necessarily leave the area safe to cross.

Practical combat tips
- Plan phase two while fighting phase one. The demon you leave for last sets the Prince variant. Do not accidentally finish the other demon if you want a particular pattern.
- Use the demons’ status vulnerabilities selectively. The community wiki lists both first-phase forms and the Prince as bleed-susceptible, and poison- and frost-immune. Poison is therefore not a viable status plan according to those entries.
- Do not assume fire is effective because the enemies use fire. The wiki’s first-phase absorption table reports 78% fire absorption for the two demons; the Prince’s listed fire absorption is 89.66%. These are community-wiki values, not independently tested figures.
- Look for opportunities to stagger. The wiki reports that demons can be poise-broken for a critical attack. It also reports 20% bonus damage from the Black Knight Sword, Greatsword, Greataxe, and Glaive. Treat these as reported mechanics rather than guaranteed optimization advice; verify against your game version if building around them.
- Use summons if you want help splitting attention. Gael and Lapp are listed near the bonfire as NPC summon options; their availability can depend on the relevant quest and game state.

Reward and lore
The listed reward is the Soul of the Demon Prince. Its item description explains why the last demon rises: “The demons, birthed from a common Chaos, share almost everything between them, even the pride of their prince, and his near-faded flame. So that the last demon standing may rekindle it.” The description for Lorian’s Greatsword adds that Lorian “single-handedly slayed the demon prince,” and that the victory scorched his sword with flame.
