Demonite is reported to drop from Volcanic Rocks in the depths, but the published drop-rate figure is an unofficial community estimate.
How to find Skal in the Volcanic Depths
- In the Ashen Passage, locate the Magma Pickaxe area and look for a hole in the floor nearby.
- Drop through the hole to enter the Volcanic Depths.
- Follow the right wall until you reach a branching tunnel leading to Skal.
- Talk to Skal and accept his request for three Demonite.
These directions come from a community guide; check the current in-game map if the route has changed. Skal’s quest dialogue, reproduced on the fan wiki, identifies the Volcanic Depths as the place to search and points players toward the magma-scarred rocks.
Where to get Demonite
Mine Volcanic Rocks in the Volcanic Depths. Community guides identify them as the source of Demonite, though the ore is reported to be rare. One guide gives a drop chance of 1 in 3,666 per ore; that figure is not confirmed by official developer documentation and should be treated as an unofficial estimate, not a guarantee of how long the farm will take. Pickaxe and farming tips
Guides recommend using a pickaxe with at least 100 Mining Power to mine Volcanic Rocks, and suggest luck or mining potions as possible ways to improve a farming run. These are community recommendations, not an officially confirmed optimal setup.

How to get and use the Demonite Key
- Collect three Demonite by mining Volcanic Rocks.
- Return to Skal in the Volcanic Depths and hand over the three ores.
- Take the Demonite Key he gives you to the locked door in the depths and use it to enter the Demonic Pickaxe room.
The guides agree on the three-ore exchange and the room the key opens. One guide also reports a reward of 500 EXP for the quest. The Demonic Pickaxe is listed at 500,000 Gold in a community guide; check the live game for the current price and availability before setting out to buy it.
