There is no responsibly sourced “best Mage build” for Deskrawl yet. The class is documented as a beta addition, while current skill names, talent effects, level gates, costs, scaling, and balance are not confirmed by the available launch-era evidence. Use the method below to build from the descriptions in your own game, record each change, and test it against the activity you actually play.
Deskrawl launched on Steam on September 28, 2026. Its store listing calls it an idle ARPG that runs at the bottom of the desktop and describes the loop as “Grind mobs, farm loot and capture enemies to serve you.” First Day Games is listed as developer and publisher, with Gamersky Games also listed as publisher.

What is known about the Mage right now
The Mage appears in a community class guide as a beta addition. That page was published and last reviewed on August 27, 2026, and explicitly treats the class details as provisional. It does not establish a launch skill list or final balance. A separate Mage build page, reviewed on the same date, also leaves the exact skills, best weapon, stat priority, talent allocation, and Gem or Rune setup unconfirmed.

That distinction matters. A beta-era screenshot, an old guide, or a “best” label is not proof that the same ability exists or performs the same way in your installed version. The practical answer is therefore a verification guide: read the current tooltips, map level requirements, and test one change at a time.

An independent class reference says each class has 14 skills divided among basic attacks, strong attacks, and specials, with skills unlocking at different levels. Treat that as a community reference rather than a guaranteed launch specification. Your character screen is the authority for the version you are playing.
Identify your version and objective before spending points
- Write down the version shown by your game client. Include the date you are making the build. If the game updates, keep the old notes instead of silently replacing them.
- Record your character level and unlocked skills. Do not plan around a later ability on a leveling character. A talent that looks ideal at a high level may be unavailable for most of your current progression.
- Choose one immediate objective. Use separate notes for unattended farming, staying alive in a difficult area, and defeating a particular boss. A setup that kills ordinary mobs quickly may not be the safest choice for a long boss encounter.
- Capture a baseline. Before changing a talent, weapon, Gem, or Rune, note the area or encounter, elapsed time, deaths, visible damage or effect values, and resource behavior shown by the interface.
This prevents a common mistake in idle games: changing several systems at once and then crediting the last change for an improvement that came from equipment, an unlock, or a different enemy group.
Build a current Mage record from the in-game interface
Use the following worksheet for every unlocked ability and talent. Copy the displayed wording rather than paraphrasing it; a small qualifier such as “on hit,” “below a threshold,” or “for a duration” can change how an interaction works.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →| Field | What to record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Ability or talent name | Exact spelling from the current interface | Prevents mixing beta and launch terminology |
| Category | Basic attack, strong attack, special, passive, or talent | Shows where it fits in the class kit |
| Unlock requirement | Displayed level or other condition | Separates a leveling plan from an endgame plan |
| Effect text | Damage, status, target rules, duration, and triggers | Defines what can actually be tested |
| Cost and cooldown | Only values visible in your game; otherwise “not stated” | Determines uptime and resource pressure |
| Scaling | Any listed stat, percentage, level, or weapon dependency | Identifies which equipment changes are relevant |
| Observed result | Same-area comparison after a controlled change | Keeps an observation separate from a tooltip claim |
The beta Mage guide specifically calls for names, effects, costs, cooldowns, scaling, and level requirements to be verified from current screenshots, developer notes, or launch evidence. Until those details are visible in your client or a current official notice, leave the cell as “not stated” instead of filling it with a remembered value.
Keep tooltip facts and observations separate
Use two columns in your notes. The first is what the game says: an effect, percentage, duration, cost, cooldown, or restriction. The second is what happened during a repeatable test. A tooltip can establish that an ability deals damage over a duration, but it cannot establish your average clear time, uptime while idle, or performance against a particular boss. Label each line “tooltip,” “observed,” or “unverified.” This makes your notes useful after a patch and prevents a single lucky run from becoming a permanent claim.
How to allocate talents without an invented meta
Start with effects, not a talent name
Read every available talent and sort it by the problem it solves: more damage, more frequent ability use, greater durability, improved resource flow, or a conditional effect. Because the current Mage talent names and values are not established, assigning points by name would create false precision. Assign a point when its displayed effect addresses your chosen objective and you can observe the result.

Use a one-change experiment
- Choose a repeatable activity that your Mage can complete without outside changes.
- Run it with the current allocation and record the baseline indicators available to you, such as completion time, deaths, resource depletion, or progress made while idle.
- Change one talent point or one related item. Keep level, area, minions, and other equipment constant.
- Repeat the same activity for a comparable interval. If the game is highly variable, make several runs and record the range rather than one lucky result.
- Keep the change only if it improves the objective without creating an unacceptable problem elsewhere.
This is a testable hypothesis, not a published ranking. No inspected source reports a Mage damage benchmark, clear-time comparison, or measured talent test, so there is no evidence-based point order to reproduce.

When a new skill unlocks, reassess the talents that support your currently used attacks. The independent class reference says skills unlock at different levels; it does not establish the exact Mage schedule for the current release. Keep a “next unlock” note and avoid spending points on a synergy you cannot activate yet.
Account for respec and opportunity cost
If the interface shows a respec fee, cooldown, lost currency, or any other restriction, record it before experimenting. The reviewed material does not establish a universal respec price, so do not assume that reallocating points is free or unlimited. When changing a build has a visible cost, test the proposed talent on a low-risk activity first and reserve a second allocation only when the expected benefit is clear. A point spent on a conditional effect also has an opportunity cost: it may delay a general-purpose improvement that helps every run. Document that trade-off instead of treating a talent as automatically superior.
Match equipment, minions, Gems, and Runes to the attacks you actually use
The build system is broader than the talent panel. The class, gear, abilities, minions, Gems, and Runes all contribute to the result. A talent that looks strong in isolation may be poor if your weapon does not support its trigger or if a Gem changes the way the attack behaves.
Equipment checklist
- Copy each weapon and equipment effect exactly as displayed.
- Mark whether the effect is always active or requires a condition you can reliably meet.
- Note which attack, stat, target type, or resource the effect references.
- Change one item at a time when testing a talent interaction.
Minion checklist
- Record the minion’s listed attack or utility effect and any condition attached to it.
- Check whether the minion helps the same objective as your Mage attacks: faster routine clears, survival, or a specific encounter.
- Do not assume that adding a minion automatically improves Mage damage; verify the visible interaction in your game.
Gem and Rune checklist
- Write down the exact effect and any restriction, trigger, or duration.
- Test the Gem or Rune with the attack or talent that is supposed to benefit from it.
- Look for an interaction in the tooltip or combat result before calling the pairing synergistic.
- Record the version and date because these systems are especially sensitive to balance changes.
The Mage build reference calls for evidence of equipment, Gem and Rune interactions, gameplay results, and patch context before making a best-build claim. In the absence of that evidence, describe a combination as “worth testing,” not as best in slot.
Leveling plan: what to do at each stage
Early levels
Use the attacks and talents already available. Prioritize a setup that kills the enemies in your current progression area consistently and does not stall from resource or survivability problems. Record the first unlocks and their requirements; do not reserve every point for a future combination if doing so makes current progress slower.

Middle levels
When additional skills become available, compare them with the attack you are actually using rather than replacing a reliable option automatically. Check whether the new ability has a cooldown, cost, target restriction, or conditional effect that changes unattended performance. Re-run your baseline after the unlock, because a level increase or new equipment can otherwise be mistaken for a talent improvement.
Later progression
Separate general farming from encounter preparation. Keep a stable farming allocation and a second documented experiment for difficult content if the game allows easy respecs. If respecs are costly or limited, test the displayed effects on a low-risk activity before committing. The available sources do not establish a final-game Mage rotation, stat priority, or class ranking.
Choose a setup by task, not by a universal “best” label
| Goal | Questions to answer in your current game | Evidence to record |
|---|---|---|
| Unattended farming | Does the setup clear routine enemies without stalling, dying, or exhausting its resource? | Progress over a fixed interval, deaths, and resource behavior |
| Survival | Which displayed effect prevents deaths or reduces incoming pressure? | Deaths, recovery or defensive triggers, and time survived |
| Boss or elite encounter | Does the effect work on the target, and can its cooldown or condition be maintained? | Attempt result, phase reached, and conditions active |
These are decision axes, not claims that one Mage variant wins. The reviewed sources contain no comparative results for any of the three goals.

When you have enough current information to compare alternatives, make a small table rather than declaring a winner from one number. Record each variant’s unlock level, displayed damage or effect, cooldown, resource cost, survival result, equipment requirements, Gem and Rune requirements, and intended task. A lower-cost ability may provide better unattended uptime even if its displayed hit is smaller; a conditional talent may excel against a boss while doing little for routine farming. Those are questions to test, not established Mage trade-offs.
Common mistakes and how to correct them
Following a beta screenshot as if it were a launch patch
Symptom: a skill name, value, or talent shown elsewhere is missing or different in your client. Fix: keep the screenshot as historical context only and use the current tooltip for your allocation.
Planning around an unreached unlock
Symptom: the proposed combination cannot be equipped at your level. Fix: mark the unlock requirement, use the strongest verified current option, and revisit the plan when the gate is reached.

Changing several variables together
Symptom: you cannot tell whether a talent, weapon, Gem, Rune, or minion caused the result. Fix: restore the baseline and change one variable per comparison.
Recommended Free Tools
Confusing a tooltip with a measured result
Symptom: a larger displayed number is assumed to mean faster progression everywhere. Fix: test it against the stated objective and record the same activity before and after.
Using a guide’s “best” tag without checking its evidence
Symptom: the recommendation has no version, screenshots, conditions, or comparison method. Fix: treat it as a lead, then verify the effect, unlock, and interaction in your own game.
Ignoring idle-specific behavior
Symptom: a setup looks strong during a short active test but loses progress while the game runs unattended. Fix: include a fixed idle interval in your comparison and record stalls, deaths, resource exhaustion, and progress. Do not substitute an active burst result for unattended performance.

Deskrawl is presented as a digital Steam release; the reviewed material does not establish a boxed edition, printed Mage guide, Mage-themed merchandise, or specific required hardware. It also does not provide a Mage-specific talent currency price, respec fee, mana cost, or other universal build cost. Use the values shown in your client for those details. A generic keyboard, mouse, or computer accessory is not a meaningful Mage recommendation without a documented requirement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe Steam listing showed 74% of 377 English reviews as positive on October 13, 2026. How to keep the build current after a patch
- Save a screenshot or transcription of your current skill and talent panels before updating.
- After the patch, check every changed name, value, cooldown, cost, and level requirement.
- Re-test the baseline activity before changing your allocation.
- Review equipment, minion, Gem, and Rune interactions again; a skill change can invalidate an old pairing.
- Date your notes and label conclusions as “observed,” “tooltip-only,” or “unverified.”
This process is more reliable than copying a static point-by-point build because it remains usable when balance changes or additional Mage skills arrive.
What the available public evidence does—and does not—prove
| Question | Current answer | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|
| Is Deskrawl available on Steam? | Yes; the listing gives a September 28, 2026 release date. | Official store listing |
| Who is listed as developer and publisher? | First Day Games is listed as developer and publisher; Gamersky Games is also listed as publisher. | Official store listing |
| Was Mage documented? | Yes, as a beta addition in a community Mage guide reviewed August 27, 2026. | Community reference; not proof of launch balance |
| What is the exact current Mage skill and talent list? | Not stated in the inspected sources. | Requires current in-game or official evidence |
| What is the best weapon, stat priority, Gem, Rune, or point order? | Not established. | No comparative test or current sourced build |
| How many skills does a class have? | An independent class page says 14 across basic attacks, strong attacks, and specials. | Community reference; recheck in the current game |
| What was the Steam review snapshot? | 74% of 377 English reviews were positive on October 13, 2026. | Changing store snapshot, not a Mage-balance measure |
| Are specific hardware or physical products required? | No such requirement or relevant physical product is established by the reviewed material. | Do not infer a purchase recommendation |
Because the public material is community reference rather than official patch notes or hands-on comparative testing, it cannot support a definitive Mage ranking. The safest build is the one whose effects, unlocks, and results you have recorded for your own version and objective.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Mage build in Deskrawl?
A definitive best build is not established. Current Mage skills, talents, weapons, stats, Gems, Runes, and balance need to be checked in your installed version. Test one change at a time against farming, survival, or a specific encounter.
Is Mage a launch class or only a beta class?
A community guide documented Mage as a beta addition and was reviewed August 27, 2026. That confirms historical inclusion, not the exact launch skill tree or final balance. Verify the class and its tooltips in your current client.
How many Mage skills should I expect?
An independent class reference says each class has 14 skills across basic attacks, strong attacks, and specials, unlocking at different levels. Treat that as a community reference and recheck the current Mage interface.
What information should I record before choosing a talent?
Record the exact name, category, unlock requirement, effect text, visible cost, cooldown, scaling, conditions, and your observed result in a repeatable activity. Mark values that are not displayed as “not stated.”
Should I use separate farming and boss talent setups?
Use separate notes and compare them by task. A farming setup may prioritize consistent unattended progress, while a boss setup may depend on target conditions or cooldown timing. The available evidence does not identify a universal winner.
Does Deskrawl require special hardware or a physical guide?
No specific hardware requirement, boxed edition, printed guide, or Mage merchandise is established by the reviewed material. Deskrawl is listed as a digital Steam game; use the requirements shown by Steam and your client.
The Bottom Line
Build the Mage you can verify, not the one a beta screenshot implies. Record your version and level, copy every current tooltip, respect unlock gates, match equipment and minions to the attacks you actually use, and test one talent or item at a time. Until current comparative results exist, “best” means best for your documented objective and progression context.
