How this Stasis weapons ranking works
The order favors weapons that have a clear role and practical value in PvE, with Exotic picks judged by how much their distinct mechanics add. A niche weapon can still be the right choice for a particular encounter or PvP match. The available official material does not establish a comprehensive current top ten, usage statistics, or a consistent PvE-versus-PvP performance comparison, so treat this as a reasoned shortlist—not a universal tier list.
Stasis weapon final blows can have a chance to create a Stasis Shard through Whisper of Chill, and Frost Armor is a Stasis buff. Those interactions make Stasis weapons potentially useful to a Stasis subclass build, but shard generation depends on the aspect, fragment, and build conditions in play; it is not a guaranteed effect of every Stasis weapon (Bungie’s Final Shape abilities tuning preview).

The 10 best Stasis weapons
1. Ager’s Scepter — best Stasis crowd-control Exotic
Ager’s Scepter is an Exotic Stasis Trace Rifle. Its final blows create a slowing burst, while Stasis final blows transfer reserve ammo into its magazine (Bungie’s item definition). That combination gives it a clear PvE identity: clear groups with the beam, then let the slowing burst disrupt nearby enemies. It stands at the top for players who want their Stasis weapon to contribute direct crowd control instead of only dealing damage.
Its main trade-off is that it is a Special-ammo weapon, not a Primary weapon for sustained, low-cost fire. Consider your Special ammo use and the other weapon in your loadout before building around it.
2. Wicked Implement — best precision-focused Stasis Exotic
Wicked Implement is an Exotic Stasis Scout Rifle. Rapid precision hits slow targets; destroying Stasis crystals or landing precision final blows can create a returning Stasis shard, and collecting shards refills the magazine (Bungie’s item definition). It is a strong fit for players who prefer measured, accurate shots and want weapon behavior tied to Stasis crystals and shards.

Bungie’s July 3, 2025 update made the rifle intrinsically anti-Overload, changed it to a faster firing rate, and adjusted how many hits it takes to begin slowing and freezing (This Week in Destiny, July 3, 2025). That is dated balance history, not proof that Wicked Implement is currently superior to every alternative.
3. A Stasis Primary matched to your activity
For everyday play, a Stasis Primary can be the most convenient way to keep the element in your loadout without spending Special ammo on routine enemies. Pick one based on the range and weapon type you can use reliably in the activity. The evidence available here does not establish a single Primary model as the current best across all modes, so avoid treating this slot as a fixed recommendation.
4. A Stasis Special for burst damage or utility
A Stasis Special can fill a close-range, precision, or other encounter-specific gap while pairing with a Primary in the first slot. Its value depends on what the encounter asks you to handle and how much Special ammo you can sustain. Choose by role rather than assuming that Stasis alone makes one Special weapon a better pick.

5. A Stasis Heavy for a dedicated damage or add-clear role
Heavy Stasis weapons use the Power slot, so they compete with the rest of your loadout’s Heavy options. They are worth considering when you specifically want Stasis in that role, but the available sources do not support a universal damage ranking or a named best Heavy pick. Match the weapon to the encounter rather than choosing it solely for its element.

If your Stasis setup benefits from weapon final blows, choose a Stasis weapon you can use consistently to help activate the relevant build interactions. Whisper of Chill can give Stasis weapon final blows a chance to create a Stasis Shard; the chance and usefulness depend on your setup. This is a build-synergy choice, not a guarantee that any Stasis gun will constantly generate shards.
7. A Stasis weapon suited to crystal-focused play
When your build or encounter involves Stasis Crystals, consider a weapon whose mechanics reward interacting with them. Wicked Implement has a documented link between destroying Stasis crystals and creating a returning shard. For other weapons, check the item’s current perk description rather than assuming the same interaction applies.

8. A Stasis weapon for sustained primary-ammo use
A Primary-ammo weapon can keep firing without relying on Special or Heavy ammo pickups, making it a practical choice for routine encounters. The right option depends on your preferred range, accuracy, and activity. The official sources cited here do not provide comparable damage or performance figures for a ranked model-by-model choice.
9. A Stasis weapon for a focused PvP loadout
In PvP, weapon feel, engagement distance, map, and loadout pairing matter more than a general PvE crowd-control ranking. Use a Stasis weapon if it suits your chosen role and gives you a dependable option in the fights you expect to take. No comprehensive PvP comparison in the sources establishes one Stasis weapon as the top pick.
10. The Stasis weapon you can access and use effectively
A weapon that fits your playstyle and is practical for you to obtain can be a better choice than a nominally stronger niche pick. This is especially true when your goal is simply to use Stasis in a Primary, Special, or Heavy role; the element spans different slots and does not make those jobs interchangeable.

Unlocking Stasis
Bungie Help says Stasis is unlocked by completing the Beyond Light campaign on Europa and states that the campaign is available to all players (Monument of Triumph FAQ). This supports access to Stasis without recommending a paid expansion purchase as a requirement. Weapon-specific acquisition details are not established by the sources cited here, so check the current in-game source for the weapon you want.
What this ranking can—and cannot—tell you
Bungie’s final live-service update announcement dates to June 2026 (Destiny 2 Team announcement). That announcement does not establish a current universal ranking or settle later changes to weapon availability or game access. Use the list as a role-based guide, and verify current in-game availability and balance before committing to a specific weapon.
