Bungie retired the four seasonal events with Update 9.7.0 on June 9, 2026, and says the game will receive no planned live-service content updates after that release.
Some former event rewards may still be obtainable through the Monument of Guardian Tenets, while some event armor sets may appear in Eververse for Bright Dust. Bungie has not published a complete, permanent inventory, so the only reliable way to confirm a particular armor set or weapon is to search those in-game destinations now.

What changed with event rewards after Update 9.7.0?
Update 9.7.0, released June 9, 2026, changed the answer to every question about Destiny 2 event gear. Bungie’s current support guide states: “Following the release of Update 9.7.0 on June 9, 2026, Destiny 2 will no longer receive planned live-service content updates.” The same guide lists Guardian Games, Solstice, Festival of the Lost, and The Dawning as retired events.
That means you should not wait for a normal annual event calendar, prepare a class item for the next Guardian Games, or expect Eva Levante’s old event loop to become active on a scheduled date. The systems described in older help articles explain how the rewards were earned when each event was live; they are historical mechanics, not instructions that those events are currently running.
#1 Best Overall
- Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
Bungie’s retirement notice leaves two possible in-game routes:
- Monument of Guardian Tenets: some rewards formerly tied to the four events are intended to be earnable here.
- Eververse: some associated armor sets may be offered for Bright Dust.
The announcement does not promise that every former reward returns, that every weapon is available, or that any individual item remains listed indefinitely. Availability can therefore differ by item and can change if Bungie issues a later hotfix. Treat the in-game listing, not an old event guide, as the final authority.
How to look for a specific event armor set or weapon now
Use the item’s exact name and check both legacy destinations before assuming it is unobtainable.
- Identify the item or set name. Write down the exact armor set, weapon, ornament, or cosmetic you want. Event names alone are too broad because each event had multiple reward categories.
- Open the Monument of Guardian Tenets. Inspect its current inventory for the item or set. Read the purchase requirement shown on the item before spending any currency; Bungie’s announcement does not provide a universal price list.
- Check Eververse for Bright Dust offerings. Look through the current armor and event-related sections for the set name. A set appearing in Eververse is a Bright Dust purchase opportunity, not proof that every weapon or cosmetic from the same event is sold there.
- Confirm the listing before farming materials. If neither destination shows the item, the published retirement notice gives no alternate activity, vendor, or drop source that you can use today.
- Read the item details and claim it while listed. Availability is not guaranteed to be permanent. Note the currency, any stated requirements, and whether the listing covers a complete set or only an individual piece.
This process is deliberately item-first. Bungie has not released a complete live inventory of legacy event rewards, so a guide that names a specific current weapon drop without an in-game listing would be speculation.
Former event reward paths at a glance
| Event | Former currency or activity | Former vendor or destination | Former reward loop | Post-retirement possibility |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Dawning | Dawning Essence, event materials, Dawning Spirit, and gift boxes | Eva Levante’s Holiday Oven and vendor inventory | Bake treats, deliver gifts, complete challenges, activate Boons of Friendship, then exchange Spirit or focus gift boxes | Some rewards may move to Monument of Guardian Tenets; some armor may appear in Eververse for Bright Dust |
| Solstice | Solstice Alloy | Eva Levante’s Solstice Forge | Spend Alloy earned from activities to unlock armor pieces, then complete more activities to unlock each piece’s glow | Some armor sets may be offered in Eververse; no complete set list is guaranteed |
| Guardian Games | Medallions from Cards or eligible ritual activities | Tower Podium | Deposit Medallions for rewards and class standing; complete event challenges for rewards and title progress | Some associated rewards may be available through Monument of Guardian Tenets or Eververse |
| Festival of the Lost | Candy earned while wearing a Haunted Mask | Eva Levante and mask-upgrade inventory | Collect a Masquerader’s Helmet, earn Candy from activities and defeated targets, then spend it on upgrades and gear | Some rewards may move to Monument of Guardian Tenets; some armor may appear in Eververse |
The final column describes possibilities announced by Bungie, not a guaranteed inventory. Check the live destination for the item you want.
The Dawning: where the old weapons and armor came from
When The Dawning was active, the loop started with ordinary gameplay. Defeating enemies and completing activities produced Dawning materials and Dawning Essence. Players used those ingredients in Eva Levante’s Holiday Oven to bake treats.
Delivering baked gifts, completing Event Card Challenges, and activating Boons of Friendship generated Dawning Spirit. Eva accepted that Spirit for rewards, focusing options, and vendor upgrades. The upgrades could enable Dawning weapons with additional perks, but that description belongs to the former event system; do not assume the oven, Spirit, or upgrade path remains accessible after retirement.

Gift boxes called A Gift in Return supplied another weapon route. You could open a box for a random reward or focus it with Eva for a Dawning weapon. Event Card rewards had a hard end point: once The Dawning ended, unclaimed Event Card rewards could not be collected.
Can you still get Dawning weapons?
There is no published promise that every Dawning weapon returned. Search the Monument of Guardian Tenets by the weapon’s name first. If the weapon is not listed there, check whether any related armor—not the weapon itself—is currently sold in Eververse for Bright Dust. Do not farm Dawning Essence or gather baking ingredients expecting a retired event to convert them into drops; Bungie’s current retirement guidance does not identify that as a live route.
Solstice: old armor, Forge progression, and glow effects
The former Solstice progression began with Eva Levante in the Tower. Players received the Solstice Forge and earned Solstice Alloy by completing activities. Spending Alloy unlocked armor pieces in the Forge.
Unlocking a piece was only the first stage. Additional activity completions progressed that armor toward its glow. The result was a set whose visual state reflected event progress, rather than a single purchase that immediately granted every appearance.

Bungie’s old Solstice guide said event rewards were accessible only while the event was active. That restriction applies to the historical event loop. The current retirement notice creates a different possibility: some Solstice armor sets may be sold in Eververse for Bright Dust.
Can you still get old Solstice armor?
Possibly, but only if the set is currently listed. Check Eververse for the set name and inspect whether the offer is for the armor itself, an ornament, or another cosmetic. Also check the Monument of Guardian Tenets, because Bungie says some seasonal-event rewards will be earnable there. If neither destination lists the set, the available sources do not establish a current acquisition method.
Guardian Games: what happened to Medallions and class rewards?
Guardian Games previously revolved around class competition. Players earned Medallions from Contender, Platinum, or Diamond Cards, and from eligible ritual activities while wearing the event class item. Depositing Medallions at the Tower Podium awarded event rewards and contributed to class standing.
Event challenges supplied additional rewards and title progress. Event Card access existed only during the active event, so its challenges were not an evergreen checklist. With Guardian Games now listed among the retired events, there is no recurring Medallion-deposit schedule to follow.
Where do Guardian Games rewards go now?
Search the Monument of Guardian Tenets for the exact reward name. Check Eververse separately if you are looking for an armor set. Bungie’s notice does not identify a complete split between the two destinations, so a missing Medallion weapon cannot be assumed to be sold for Bright Dust, and an armor set cannot be assumed to be in the Monument.
Festival of the Lost: masks, Candy, and former gear
The former Festival of the Lost path began when players collected a Masquerader’s Helmet from Eva Levante. Wearing a Haunted Mask during activities and while defeating targets generated Candy. Candy could be spent on mask upgrades and gear.
As with the other events, the rewards were tied to the event window. The old support guide stated that event rewards were accessible only during the event. Festival of the Lost is now retired under Update 9.7.0, so the Haunted Mask and Candy loop should be treated as historical information.

Can you still earn Festival of the Lost gear?
Look for the specific item in the Monument of Guardian Tenets, then check Eververse for associated armor. Bungie says some former event rewards may be placed in the Monument and some armor sets may be sold for Bright Dust, but it does not guarantee that every mask, weapon, armor piece, or cosmetic is present. If an item is absent from both locations, no official replacement route is specified.

Event Cards were free to access during their respective events. Bungie’s support information described an optional upgrade costing 1,000 Silver. The upgraded card added extra Event Challenges and Event Tickets that could be exchanged for additional cosmetic rewards.
Event Cards were temporary by design. Challenges and rewards disappeared when the corresponding event ended, and unused Event Tickets did not transfer to another Event Card. Those rules explain why an old guide may mention a challenge or ticket that you cannot find now. They do not show that a retired card can currently be purchased.
Do not buy Silver specifically to chase a retired Event Card unless the card itself is visibly available in your current game. The documented 1,000-Silver price describes the former optional upgrade, not a standing post-retirement offer.

The item is not in the Monument
Verify the spelling and search for the individual item rather than only the event name. Some rewards were tied to a set, while others were weapons, titles, or cosmetics. If the exact item is absent, inspect Eververse before concluding that it has been removed permanently.
The armor set is not in Eververse
Eververse offerings are not a catalog of every former event reward. A set may instead be intended for the Monument, may not have returned, or may not be offered at the moment you check. Bungie’s retirement announcement does not provide a schedule or guarantee of rotation.

An old guide tells you to visit Eva
Eva’s Holiday Oven, Solstice Forge, Haunted Mask, and Guardian Games Podium were components of the former event loops. They are useful references for understanding how players originally earned the gear, but they are not evidence that the corresponding event is active after Update 9.7.0.
You expected a weapon but found only armor
Bungie distinguishes between possible Monument rewards and possible Eververse armor offers. An armor set appearing in Eververse does not imply that weapons from the same event are included. Search each weapon separately in the Monument and rely on the item’s current listing.
A practical decision checklist
- Confirm that the item came from Guardian Games, Solstice, Festival of the Lost, or The Dawning.
- Check the Monument of Guardian Tenets for the exact item or set name.
- Check Eververse for armor sets and note whether Bright Dust is accepted.
- Read the listing for currency and requirements before purchasing.
- Ignore former instructions to earn Medallions, Solstice Alloy, Candy, Dawning Spirit, or event tickets unless the live game explicitly presents that activity.
- Claim a listed reward while it is available; Bungie has not promised permanent inventory.
- If neither destination lists the item, treat its current availability as unconfirmed rather than farming an obsolete event currency.
What the retirement means for future farming
The four events no longer provide a dependable annual farming plan. There is no current evidence of a recurring event schedule, a universal vendor conversion, or a complete legacy-reward archive. Bungie allows for possible future hotfixes for health and stability, but that is not a promise of new event content or a restored reward loop.
For collectors, the most reliable habit is to check the two named destinations whenever you return to the game and to search by exact item name. For everyone else, avoid spending time or currency on instructions copied from pre-9.7.0 guides unless the relevant activity and reward are visibly present in-game.
Bottom line for each event
- The Dawning: former rewards came from baked gifts, Dawning Spirit, and gift-box focusing; current weapon availability must be verified in the Monument.
- Solstice: former armor required Solstice Alloy and Forge progression; some sets may now appear in Eververse for Bright Dust.
- Guardian Games: former Medallions and class-standing rewards came from Cards and ritual activities; retired rewards may be redirected to the Monument or Eververse.
- Festival of the Lost: former Candy and Haunted Mask activities are no longer a scheduled route; check the Monument and Eververse for any returned gear.
Bungie’s announcement is a destination guide, not a complete catalog. The item’s current in-game listing is the decisive answer.
