To earn its Exotic Catalyst, complete the hidden Vestige of Light and statue sequence in the regular Ghosts of the Deep activity, then defeat Thul-Ar. Explorer Mode and the Rite of the Nine version are not reliable alternatives: Bungie says the Catalyst will not drop from those routes.
How to get The Navigator
The Navigator is an Exotic Trace Rifle tied to the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. The community-maintained Destiny 2 Wiki guide identifies the dungeon’s final encounter as its drop source. Exact drop conditions and current farming rules can change, so check the activity details in game before running it.

How to get The Navigator Catalyst
The Catalyst comes from a hidden sequence inside Ghosts of the Deep. The guide describes a route in which you collect a Vestige of Light from a pile of dead Ghosts, carry it to a hidden statue, and activate a Thul-Ar encounter stage. Repeat the statue sequence as you progress through the dungeon, then defeat the final Thul-Ar stage to claim the Catalyst.
- Enter the regular Ghosts of the Deep dungeon.
- Find and collect a Vestige of Light from a dead-Ghost pile.
- Carry the Vestige to the hidden statue and use it to activate the Thul-Ar encounter stage.
- Repeat the Vestige-and-statue sequence through the dungeon.
- Defeat the final stage of Thul-Ar to earn the Catalyst.
The guide’s route is a broad walkthrough rather than a guarantee of unchanged placements or mechanics; follow the in-game encounter cues if details differ.

|---|---|---|
| Regular Ghosts of the Deep | Yes, this is the version Bungie support directs players to use. | Complete the hidden sequence and defeat Thul-Ar. |
| Explorer Mode | No. Bungie removed the Catalyst steps because the Catalyst did not drop after completing them. | Use regular Ghosts of the Deep instead. |
| Rite of the Nine version | No, according to a Bungie support-forum response dated May 27, 2025. | Run regular Ghosts of the Deep. |
Bungie’s June 10, 2025 Update 8.2.6.4 notes state: “Removed the Navigator’s catalyst steps in Explorer Mode of Ghosts of the Deep, since the catalyst will not drop after completing the steps.” A Bungie support-forum response on May 27, 2025, likewise says the Rite of the Nine version does not award the Catalyst and directs players to regular dungeon runs.

Dungeon and seasonal-content access can change. Bungie’s Destiny Content Vault information explains that activities and seasonal content may rotate into the Vault; it does not establish a live weekly rotation. Confirm that regular Ghosts of the Deep is accessible in game before planning the Catalyst run.
