Bungie says planned live-service content updates ended with Update 9.7.0 on June 9, 2026, though a health or stability hotfix may still be released. Here’s what the expansion changed and what that status means now.
What changed in The Edge of Fate?
The Edge of Fate was a paid expansion that introduced the Kepler destination and the Portal activity-selection screen. Bungie announced the expansion and Year of Prophecy on May 6, 2025, then launched it on July 15, 2025. Bungie’s reveal recap and its official expansion guide describe the launch features.

Kepler and its destination abilities
Kepler was designed around exploration, puzzles, and finding paths through the environment. Its dark matter energy powers abilities that interact with the terrain:
- Matterspark: Changes a Guardian’s form to squeeze through narrow spaces, jump and dash across terrain, and attack as a rolling force.
- Relocator Cannon: Uses Fallen dark matter technology to teleport players through the environment.
- Mattermorph: Lets players manipulate their surroundings using dark matter and Strand.
The Portal activity screen
The Portal was introduced as an activity-selection interface intended to help players find content suited to their play style and reward goals. Its announced categories included Fireteam Ops, Pinnacle Ops, Crucible Ops, and Solo Ops. Bungie described Solo Ops as short activities for solo players.

What followed the expansion?
The Year of Prophecy roadmap announced two major updates after The Edge of Fate: Ash & Iron and Renegades, followed by Shadow & Order. The dates below are the schedule Bungie announced in May 2025; they are historical, not upcoming dates.

The dates and planned format come from Bungie’s May 2025 roadmap announcement. A listed date should not be read as evidence that content remains due: Bungie later stated that planned live-service content updates had ended.

Bungie identified Update 9.7.0, released June 9, 2026, as the final planned live-service content update. Its later Update 9.7.0 support guide says planned updates have ended. Bungie’s May 21, 2026 statement and support guide leave room for a future hotfix if needed for game health or stability; that is a limited exception, not a promise of new planned content.
As of October 2026, no future planned live-service content update is established by these announcements. The game remains playable, but the support statement does not promise a schedule of future content or hotfixes.
