Getting Buried Bloodline and unlocking its catalyst are separate goals. The Exotic Sidearm is reported to drop randomly from Warlord’s Ruin’s final encounter; the catalyst route instead requires the In the Shadow of the Mountain quest, three dungeon puzzles, and a hidden encounter.
How to get Buried Bloodline
Buried Bloodline is an Exotic Sidearm tied to the Warlord’s Ruin dungeon. A Shacknews guide reports that it can drop randomly from the dungeon’s final encounter, but the reviewed sources do not establish an official drop chance or guarantee. Bungie’s item record identifies the weapon and lists its perks and components.
Complete Warlord’s Ruin and defeat the final encounter for a chance at the weapon. If it does not drop, you will need another eligible clear; no source here supports a reliable number of runs or a percentage chance.
How to unlock the Buried Bloodline catalyst
Complete the prerequisite quest
First finish In the Shadow of the Mountain. The walkthroughs identify this quest as a prerequisite for the catalyst route, not as the reward that grants Buried Bloodline itself. Once it is complete, return to Warlord’s Ruin.

Complete the three puzzle sequences
The catalyst walkthroughs describe three puzzle sequences through the dungeon. They use Taken blights and torches or totems: shoot the blights and activate or match the relevant torch-and-totem elements to complete each sequence. Consult the current in-game landmarks as you progress; the exact positioning and timing are not fully specified in the cited official item record. Shacknews and the Warlord’s Ruin walkthrough cover the route. The latter lists a verification date of August 1, 2026.
Find and complete the hidden encounter
After the puzzle route, reach the hidden encounter in the area before the dungeon’s final encounter and complete it. The walkthroughs say this special encounter grants access to the catalyst. One secondary guide notes that a bridge puzzle can be tight when playing solo; that is a practical observation, not an official requirement to bring a fireteam.

Finish the catalyst masterwork
Obtaining the catalyst does not finish its masterwork. Bungie’s item entry instructs players to defeat targets using Buried Bloodline to unlock the upgrade. Equip the weapon and get defeats with it after acquiring the catalyst.
A secondary database names the catalyst perk Splitvein Lineage and describes it as weakening targets hit while Devour is active. Treat that wording as the database’s description and check the catalyst’s in-game text for the current perk details.

Is Buried Bloodline farmable?
Do not plan around a fixed weekly limit or guaranteed repeatable drop without checking the current activity listing. A July 2024 Bungie.net forum reply described one Exotic chance per class each week for the then-current newest dungeon and non-rotator dungeons, with the weekly rotator dungeon farmable. That is dated community guidance, not an authoritative current rule. A May 2026 forum discussion includes a reply saying legacy dungeon Exotics can be farmed, but it does not verify Warlord’s Ruin’s current schedule or eligibility details.
Before repeating clears, check Warlord’s Ruin’s listing in the in-game Director for its current status and any stated farming eligibility. The cited forum discussions do not establish a current drop rate.

Bungie’s item record describes Buried Bloodline as firing tracking bolts that leech health, with multiple final blows granting Devour. Its catalyst socket points players to Triumphs for acquisition information; once the catalyst is obtained, the masterwork step is weapon defeats.
