Destiny 2’s Year of Prophecy was Bungie’s 2025 content plan: two paid expansions, The Edge of Fate and Renegades, alongside two major updates Bungie said would be available to all players. The roadmap began with The Edge of Fate on July 15, 2025, and Renegades launched on December 2, 2025. The announced schedule also included the all-player updates Ash & Iron and Shadow & Order.
What was Destiny 2’s Year of Prophecy?
Bungie introduced the Year of Prophecy in its May 6, 2025 reveal recap as a four-beat content year: two paid expansions and two major updates available to all players. Bungie said those updates would bring activities, Exotic Missions, gear, rewards, and Exotic weapons, and described the structure as not requiring paid access to seasonal activities. Those are Bungie’s announced plans, not an independent assessment of how the content model performed.

What did The Edge of Fate add?
A new destination and the Fate Saga
The Edge of Fate was the first expansion and launched July 15, 2025, according to Bungie’s guide. Bungie positioned it as the beginning of the Fate Saga, a story centered on the Nine and taking Guardians to Kepler. Its reveal described Kepler as a place built around exploration, mystery, and player discovery.

- Relocator Cannon: enables teleportation.
- Mattermorph: lets players manipulate their surroundings.
The Portal and solo activities
Alongside the expansion, Bungie announced the Portal as a core-game activity-selection screen available to all players. Its listed options were Fireteam Ops, Pinnacle Ops, Crucible Ops, and Solo Ops. Bungie described Solo Ops as short sessions designed for solo play.

What is Destiny 2: Renegades?
Renegades was announced as the Year of Prophecy’s second paid expansion. Bungie said it was inspired by Star Wars while remaining part of Destiny’s narrative. The expansion launched December 2, 2025; Bungie’s launch post confirmed it was available to play that day.
Its campaign follows The Edge of Fate. Bungie’s Renegades guide introduces the Barant Imperium, Drifter’s vision, and alliances with Syndicates. Bungie’s Year of Prophecy page describes the Lawless Frontier and activities including jobs, Turf Wars, Invasions, and the Equilibrium dungeon.

What was included in the Year of Prophecy editions?
Bungie’s edition support page lists The Edge of Fate Standard Edition, Year of Prophecy Edition, Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition, and Collector’s Edition. It describes the Year of Prophecy Standard Edition as including both expansion campaigns, a raid and dungeon, and rewards passes. The Ultimate Edition adds the bonus items listed on Bungie’s page. Bungie’s purchase page identifies the two expansions and their launch dates and describes Renegades Standard and Year of Prophecy editions.
Those pages are useful for understanding the announced edition structure, but contents, platform availability, and prices can change. Check the current Bungie or platform storefront listing before buying. Bungie’s support page also lists preorder bonuses tied to deadlines before the expansions launched; those are historical offers, not proof that a bonus remains available. Some items may require installation through the game’s add-on management.

Collector’s Edition searches
Bungie’s recap mentions a physical Collector’s Edition, so “Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy Collector’s Edition” is a specific product-search phrase. That mention does not establish whether it is currently listed by a retailer such as Amazon, what physical items it contains, or whether it includes a game code.
How the announcement differs from the released content
The May 2025 recap was a roadmap and preview. For The Edge of Fate, the guide identifies the July 15, 2025 launch; for Renegades, Bungie’s December 2 launch post confirms release. The roadmap dates for Ash & Iron and Shadow & Order should likewise be read as dates Bungie announced, rather than as a current status report on those updates.
