Bungie says it has begun work to bring vaulted Destiny 2 campaigns, destinations, and raids back for all players, but it has not announced a release date or which content will return first. Separately, the current Bungie Store is reported to be retiring on October 19, 2026; Bungie’s store pages confirm sale and rewards deadlines at that time, but do not establish what merchandise channel, if any, will replace it.
What Bungie means by bringing Destiny 2 back
On September 17, 2026, Bungie Studio Head Poria Torkan and Head of Product Josh Deane said the studio is beginning work to restore vaulted Destiny 2 campaigns, destinations, and raids, where they would be available to all Destiny 2 players. The statement is a commitment to start restoration work, not a launch announcement: Bungie gave no date and named no first wave of content. Bungie’s statement, “The Next Chapter for Bungie”, says more details will follow in the months ahead.
Why the work will take time
Bungie says Destiny 2 has changed substantially since Beyond Light, so restoring older content requires work on lighting, encounters, combatants, and other underlying systems. The aim, according to the statement, is to bring that content up to current stability and gameplay standards. This explains why “bringing back” does not mean simply switching vaulted missions or locations back on; it does not, however, establish how long the work will take.
Is Destiny 2 shutting down?
No. Bungie Help says Destiny 2 remains playable after Update 9.7.0, released June 9, 2026. Bungie describes that update as the final planned live-service content update: it is not planning further content updates, while leaving open the possibility of hotfixes for game health and stability. That maintenance possibility is not a promise of new content. See the Monument of Triumph and Update 9.7.0 Support Guide.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The September restoration statement changes the outlook for vaulted content, but Bungie has not said it is reversing the end of planned live-service updates or returning to a regular release schedule. The studio’s own caution is apt: “Trust won’t be rebuilt through a single blog, video, or release.”
What is known about the Bungie Store retirement
The current storefront’s retirement on October 19 is reported in a Reddit post dated October 3 that attributes the announcement to Bungie social media. The original social post was not available in the material supporting this report, so the closure claim cannot be confirmed here from Bungie’s own announcement. Bungie Store pages do independently list October 19, 2026, at 9:59 AM Pacific Time as the end of a retired-rewards restock window and a Bungie Foundation sale. Those deadlines are not, by themselves, proof that every official Bungie merchandise channel will end. The Bungie Store and its policies provide the official sale and rewards details.

If you are considering a current Bungie Store order
- The limited retired-rewards restock is for eligible players, runs through October 19 at 9:59 AM PT, and is subject to available supplies.
- The Bungie Store x Bungie Foundation sale is listed for September 28 through October 19 at 9:59 AM PT. Bungie says 50% of discounted sales proceeds before tax, shipping, and fees go to the foundation.
- The US storefront says it can no longer sell or ship orders to the EU or UK because of VAT regulation changes. This is a restriction on that storefront, not evidence about every regional store or a future merchant. See Bungie’s shipping information.
Rewards deadlines are not the same as store-wide availability
Bungie’s June 4, 2026, This Week in Destiny described a physical Monument of Triumph shirt tied to the Immortal Title. To qualify, players had to complete the title by September 30 at 9:59 AM PT and order by October 2 at 11:59 PM PT; Bungie corrected an earlier October 31 order date. Both windows have passed. The post also announced a Sparrow Racing League jacket drop planned for later in June. Those reward examples do not confirm present stock or post-retirement purchasing options.

No successor storefront or authorized replacement retailer is confirmed in the sources available here. Bungie’s store describes its offerings as digital game items, gear, and personalized apparel, but neither the current sale deadlines nor the retirement report say where those products will be sold afterward. Treat any third-party merchandise listing as separate from Bungie Rewards, and check the specific seller and listing rather than assuming it is official.
