Short answer: this walkthrough takes you from the dock to the final interview with Officer James in Detective Grimoire. It includes the mobile-version puzzle moves and deduction phrases documented by Pocket Gamer on January 3, 2014, with spoiler levels clearly marked. The game is a single-player investigation adventure from SFB Games: you explore locations, inspect crime-scene details, question suspects, solve environmental puzzles and assemble deductions.
Platform note: the detailed route below is written for the iOS and Android edition. On Steam or another PC release, replace instructions such as “tap,” “hold a finger” and “drag” with the equivalent mouse or controller input; the exact interface wording may differ.

How deductions and evidence work
The investigation is not solved by selecting a single keyword. Grimoire assembles thoughts from phrase fragments into a complete conclusion. The Steam listing describes this feature as: “Assemble Grimoire’s thoughts to reach conclusions about the case.” Read each fragment as part of one sentence and select the combination that makes a grammatical, logical claim.
Evidence is collected as you inspect places and question people. Some conversations only advance after you have examined the relevant object or learned a related fact. If a response is unavailable, retrace the nearby scene before assuming the game is stuck.
Complete walkthrough
1. Leave the dock and enter Boggy’s Bog
- At the dock, use the walk control to reveal the route onward.
- Speak to the little girl. She gives Grimoire the map.
- Use the map or the newly revealed route to enter Boggy’s Bog.
On a touch screen, the walk control is the interaction that exposes the path; on PC, use the corresponding movement input rather than looking for a separate “map” command.
2. Solve the chain puzzle
The chain blocks progress in Boggy’s Bog. The key requirement from the mobile walkthrough is easy to miss: both latches must be moved. If only one latch is repositioned, the chain becomes too taut to move.
- Move one latch to one of the red circles at the bottom.
- Move the second latch to a red circle as well.
- Once both latches have moved, use the loosened chain to continue.
If the chain still will not shift, check that you moved each latch, not merely one of them. The guide does not specify a different winning arrangement; it identifies moving both latches as the essential condition.

3. Make the first deduction
After the opening investigation, assemble the fragments in this exact order:
“The Swamp” + “is far too remote for” + “the tourist attraction” + “to make any money”

Select all four parts so they read as one conclusion. The wording is the mobile guide’s answer text; punctuation or capitalization may look slightly different in another edition.
4. Investigate the crossroads and Remington’s office
- At the crossroads, go left.
- Pass the protest and continue to the clearing.
- Enter Remington’s office area.
- Inspect the chalk outline.
- Try the locked office.
- Tap the bubbling swamp water beside the bridge.
Those examinations establish the next deduction. Select:
“Vincent Van De Peer” + “told me that” + “Bobby Burle” + “was no where to be found last night”

Keep the phrase “no where” exactly as shown in the mobile walkthrough, even though conventional spelling would usually join the words.

- Talk to Vincent Van De Peer about the subject of his challenge.
- When asked about the filming permission, answer: “Remington has denied you the filming permission in the past”.
- Drag the bag of money onto Grimoire’s notebook to complete the challenge.
The drag instruction is touch-oriented. On a mouse interface, click and hold the bag, move it over the notebook and release; on a controller, use the equivalent pick-up and place action if the port provides one.
6. Question Bobby Burle and develop the photograph
- Talk to cameraman Bobby Burle again about his challenge topic.
- Use the response “You left it with Van De Peer, and he used it instead”.
- Use the additional response “Van De Peer said you had a hobby on the side”.
- Apply developing fluid to the photograph by rubbing the image with it.
The photograph changes from black and white and reveals an image of Boggy. The developed black-and-white photo is added as evidence for the later confrontation.
7. Open the museum lock
- From the investigation area, go right to the museum path.
- Enter the museum.
- For the lock, move the middle lock up.
- Move the bottom lock all the way right.
- Move the middle lock down.
- Move the upper lock right.
- Move the middle lock up and left.
Perform the moves in that order. If your platform highlights a selected lock differently, confirm that the intended lock is active before each movement; the documented solution is based on the mobile interface.
8. Question Sally and activate the Boggy toy
- Talk to Sally about her challenge topic.
- Answer “Your black leggings were part of the murderer’s costume”.
- Then answer “They’re loose and stretched”.
- Sally gives Grimoire the Boggy toy.
- Hold a finger on the toy to wind it, then release.
On PC, substitute the equivalent press-and-hold input for the finger gesture. The important timing is to keep the toy held while winding and release afterward, rather than tapping repeatedly.

9. Ask the remaining suspects about Remington
- Talk to Folder about the Boggy costume.
- Speak to Burle about Remington.
- Speak to Van De Peer about Remington.
- Speak to Echo about Remington.
- Speak to Sally about Remington.
- Speak to Weybridge about Remington.
- Speak to Harper about Remington.
Do not stop after the costume conversation. The route requires the Remington conversation with each person listed. When Grimoire says it is time to talk to Officer James, return to the swamp dock.
10. Finish the case with Officer James
At the dock, speak to Officer James. Give the following responses first:
- “I didn’t find him”
- “I don’t need to”
Present the evidence items in this set:
- The black-and-white photo
- The costume designs
- The missing page
- The fireplace poker
- The swamp juice
When the final explanation prompt appears, choose:
“To make sure Remington got ill and had to return to his office”
That evidence presentation and explanation complete the route documented by the mobile walkthrough.

The route onward is invisible at the dock
Use the walk control before trying to navigate elsewhere, then speak to the little girl for the map. The path to Boggy’s Bog is revealed through that opening interaction.

The chain will not move
Move both latches. The guide specifically warns that one moved latch leaves the chain too taut.
A deduction does not accept the answer
Check that every fragment is selected and arranged in the documented order. The deduction system expects a complete conclusion, not one correct keyword. For the first deduction, begin with “The Swamp”; for the second, begin with “Vincent Van De Peer.”
A conversation option is missing
Inspect the associated location or object first. The route calls for the chalk outline, locked office and bubbling water before the second deduction; the photograph must be developed before it becomes evidence; and the suspect conversations continue only after the Boggy toy sequence.
The final interview does not progress
Return to the swamp dock only after Grimoire indicates it is time to speak with Officer James. Use the two opening responses, present all five listed evidence items, and then select the explanation about making Remington ill so he returned to his office.
Mobile instructions versus PC play
The detailed source for these moves is a January 3, 2014 Pocket Gamer walkthrough for iOS and Android. Its touch language—tap, drag, rub, hold a finger and release—is therefore not proof of a particular Steam key binding or controller layout. The Steam release is also a 2014 single-player version, but the available store description supports the game’s investigation mechanics rather than these exact puzzle movements.

This is a completion route for the documented progression: it gets Grimoire from the opening dock to the Officer James conclusion and supplies every solution phrase listed in the mobile guide. It is not an exhaustive 100% guide. The source explicitly omits some hints, clue details and suspicious facts about suspects, so optional observations or alternate discovery order may not appear here.
