Detective of the Dead is planned for release in 2027, according to its current Steam listing; it is not yet available to play there. Actrio Studio’s upcoming adventure follows a murdered detective through the Mexican afterworld Mictlan, blending investigation with taco cooking and help from a magical dog.
When does Detective of the Dead come out?
Actrio Studio currently lists Detective of the Dead for 2027 on Steam. The listing gives no exact date and says the game is not yet available. Players can wishlist it or request access to a playtest through the store page.
The Steam Community hub has an “Early Access Game” banner and developer posts about showcases and playtests, but that banner does not establish that the game is currently playable in Early Access. The current store listing is the clearer indicator of availability.
What do you do in Detective of the Dead?
You play as Alejandro, a detective who has recently been killed and must find his own murderer while protecting his loved ones and the Día de los Muertos. The story unfolds in Mictlan, the Mexican afterworld. Actrio Studio describes the game as an adventure that combines cozy cooking with detective work.
