Diablo 4 2.0.5 was an all-platform update released on November 19, 2024, as build 59712. It adjusted several runes and mercenary abilities and included fixes for quests, achievements, strongholds, item usability, and other gameplay issues. This is a historical patch, not a statement of the game’s current version. Blizzard’s official patch-notes archive lists the original update and its later 2.0.5a and 2.0.5b follow-ups.
What changed in Diablo 4 patch 2.0.5?
The November 19 notes focus on balance changes for runes and mercenaries, alongside a range of bug fixes. Blizzard’s Diablo IV team introduced the notes by saying it had been “monitoring your feedback.” The update is listed under the Vessel of Hatred heading, but the notes do not identify every individual change as requiring the expansion.

Rune changes
Blizzard changed the behavior or values of several runes. The listed changes include:
- Neo: The effect is no longer blocked by invulnerability. Its tooltip clarifies that taking health damage is required to stop the effect: “The Tooltip now specifically states that you must take health damage to stop this effect.”
- Moni: Offering increased from 25 to 35.
- Ton: Meteorites were adjusted.
- Ceh: Spirit Wolves were adjusted.
- Tal: Pestilent Swarms were adjusted.
- Vex: Duration behavior was adjusted.
- Lum and Thul: Values were adjusted.

Mercenary changes
Raheir’s Shield Throw
Shield Throw received a longer taunt, more target bounces, and increased damage. Blizzard’s November 19, 2024 notes give these before-and-after values:

Patch 2.0.5 included fixes across several areas of play. Blizzard’s notes list issues involving Vessel of Hatred quests, achievements, strongholds, item usability, and other gameplay problems. The full archive entry gives the individual fixes; the update is not limited to the balance changes summarized above.

The patch notes appear under the Vessel of Hatred heading, but that alone does not show that every change requires the expansion. Blizzard’s Vessel of Hatred launch guide distinguishes content available to all Diablo IV players from expansion content and says the Vessel of Hatred campaign requires purchasing the expansion. It does not map each 2.0.5 change to an ownership requirement, so the notes do not support a blanket claim that the entire patch requires the expansion.
