Use a Tribute at the Spirit Brazier to steer a Kurast Undercity run toward a reward category; then build Attunement by fighting monsters and completing events to improve the reward you receive from the final boss. Higher-quality Tributes can increase both the reward potential and the challenge. Before committing one—especially in a party—check its current in-game tooltip, since recent guides disagree about some Tribute names and rewards.
How do you use Undercity Tributes?
At the Spirit Brazier, offer a Tribute before entering the Undercity. Tributes modify the run and target a type of reward. Blizzard describes them as keys used to augment future runs and target specific rewards: Blizzard’s Vessel of Hatred feature overview. The reward is paid out after the final boss, and its quality depends on the Attunement earned during the run.

A Tribute is therefore a way to focus a run, not a guarantee of a particular item. Its quality matters too: a higher-quality Tribute raises reward potential while increasing the run’s challenge. Choose one that fits both your immediate goal and your ability to complete objectives efficiently.
What does each Tribute reward?
Recent guides do not agree on the full Tribute catalog or all reward mappings. The August 2026 guide reports the following categories; treat these as guide-reported targets, not an authoritative, permanent loot table. Check the exact Tribute name and tooltip in your current game before offering it.

A July 2026 guide gives a different catalog, including Mystique for slot- or class-targeted Uniques, Radiance for Aspect imprints, Titans for boss keys, Equipment for gear, Gold for currency, and Refinement for masterworking materials. Because those listings conflict with the newer August 2026 guide on names and rewards, do not assume that either list covers every current version of the game. The live tooltip is the practical check before spending a Tribute.
How do you build Attunement efficiently?
Attunement is the run’s measure of progress toward a better final reward. Blizzard says it comes from killing monsters and completing events; defeating the final Undercity boss awards the reward scaled by Attunement. Afflicted demons extend the timer, giving you more time to finish objectives. See Blizzard’s overview of the Undercity.

- Head toward marked beacon events. The 2026 guide recommends completing these events as a way to build Attunement rather than taking low-value detours.
- Prioritize efficient combat, including elites. The guide identifies elite kills as a useful focus. Clear enemies along your route instead of abandoning objective progress for unnecessary fights.
- Use timer extensions to keep objectives within reach. Afflicted demons extend the timer, according to Blizzard. Take advantage of that time to complete nearby objectives.
- Finish the run by defeating the final boss. The boss ends the run and pays out the reward based on your Attunement.
The August 2026 guide describes five Attunement levels, from 0 to 4, and recommends beacon events and efficient combat for reaching the highest tier. Treat the level labels and route advice as guide context, not an immutable official rule; the official overview confirms the Attunement system but does not specify that five-level scale.
What should solo players and parties check before offering a Tribute?
For a solo run, match the Tribute’s target to what you need, then weigh its reward potential against the increased challenge of a higher-quality Tribute. Pick a difficulty and Tribute combination that leaves enough time to complete events and reach the boss with strong Attunement.

For parties, confirm who receives the payout before starting. The August 2026 guide reports that Resolute Tributes reward only the player who offered them, while other Tribute rewards are shared with the party. Blizzard’s overview explains the Tribute and Attunement system but does not document that current distinction. Read the item’s live tooltip and agree on who will contribute before entering; do not assume that every party member receives an offerer-only reward.

Kurast Undercity is content from the Vessel of Hatred expansion, as confirmed in Blizzard’s expansion overview. A March 2026 guide reports that access requires completing the Vessel of Hatred campaign quest “Reunion,” reaching level 15, and completing the Undercity priority quest chain. Because that checklist is secondary and predates current seasons, check your Priority Quests and the live game if the entrance is unavailable rather than assuming the old checklist is exhaustive.

Which Tribute should you choose?
- Start with the reward: choose the category that matches your current objective, after verifying its tooltip.
- Account for challenge: a higher-quality Tribute can offer greater rewards but also makes the run harder.
- Check the payout: in a group, establish whether the current Tribute is reported as offerer-only or shared before anyone spends it.
- Be realistic about Attunement: favor a run where you can reach events, defeat enemies efficiently, and make it to the boss in time.
